TV on the Radio

The chance of precipitation will hover around 35% according to hourly forecasts for today, meaning there is still a high likelihood that you won't get drenched if heading out later to catch TV On The Radio / Broken Social Scene at Williamsburg Waterfront. Tickets are still available.

TV On The Radio screened the film that accompanys their current LP Nine Types of Light last night (9/7) at The Nitehawk. The film, comprised of videos for all of the tracks on the LP and viewable in its entirety below, was screened and followed-up with a Q&A session with Tunde Adebimpe and the film's director. Directly following, members of the band performed a 25-minute experimental set "to a silent video Tunde shot on his iPhone during tour". Pictures from last night are in this post.

This week also held important milestone in the TVOTR lore, with 9/6 marking the release of their new World Cafe Live EP available now on iTunes or on CD/12" vinyl with bonus track "Province."

All TVOTR dates and more pictures from last night's event are below.

is Tunde wearing cargo shorts? i thought that was a big no-no in Hipsterville

Posted by Anonymous | September 8, 2011 10:54 AM

BSS will only play for 45 mins! Not worth the $$$

Posted by Anonymous | September 8, 2011 10:55 AM

BSS live > TVOTR live

Posted by Anonymous | September 8, 2011 10:58 AM

Brought to you by delicious, refreshing, Heineken. Please drink responsibly.

Posted by Anonymous | September 8, 2011 11:00 AM

10:45 Tunde is much more than Hipsterville. But, yes, I think hipsters do hate cargo shorts. They love skinny shorts and blouses.

Posted by Anonymous | September 8, 2011 11:04 AM

@1058 exactly. Why would anyone pay $50 to see this bill is beyond me.

BSS should have just headlined their own show @ Bowery/MHOW

P.S. And the fact that TVOR r headlining Hollywood Bowl must be a joke! Arctic Monkeys should be.

Posted by Anonymous | September 8, 2011 11:06 AM

BSS goes on at 7:00pm. was told they will not hesitate to pull the plug if there is heavy rainfall or lightening.
rain delay can not last too long due to the requirements to close venue by 10

Posted by Anonymous | September 8, 2011 11:08 AM

does anyone know the set times tonight. i know the show starts at 6.30

Posted by Anonymous | September 8, 2011 11:08 AM

there done dancing in front of the Heineken billboards and want to be artists again?

clown shit

Posted by Anonymous | September 8, 2011 11:11 AM

Set times should really be like this....

1) door 530pm
2) bss 6-730pm
3) tvor 8-945pm

but I know bss will only get like 45 mins..

Posted by Anonymous | September 8, 2011 11:13 AM

1108 what kind of question is that?

if you know what time the show starts, why are you asking???????????

do you only care about tvor? if so just show up at 8pm.

Posted by Anonymous | September 8, 2011 11:17 AM

i don't get why they'd only get 45 minutes. such a waste. no thanks

Posted by Anonymous | September 8, 2011 11:17 AM

Don't care for them but when you think about BSS's name, it sounds quite fitting.

Posted by Anonymous | September 8, 2011 11:20 AM

so the show starts at 630pm.....

BSS should get at least 75 mins!

BSS 630-745
TVOR 815-945

Won't this set times make everyone happy? But I know BSS will only get around 45 mins.....

Posted by Ok | September 8, 2011 11:22 AM

$50 for 45 mins of BSS. Not sure...

TV on the RAINio

Posted by Anonymous | September 8, 2011 11:29 AM

Was at the Best Buy Theater box office the other week and it said show at 6:15.

Posted by Anonymous | September 8, 2011 11:30 AM

nitehawk is amazing

Posted by Anonymous | September 8, 2011 11:31 AM

Hummus in the fridge > TV on the Radio

Posted by Anonymous | September 8, 2011 11:42 AM

all tickets on sale on craigslist for way below face, embarrassing. bad booking.

Posted by Anonymous | September 8, 2011 11:54 AM

is there an opener on before BSS tonite? what is the approximate exact perfect time to roll up and avoid having to stand around with you plebes?

Posted by queefah | September 8, 2011 11:55 AM

wait. bss is playing for 45 minutes?

they normally play like three hour sets.

and, uh, they really should be headlining this bill. they had no trouble selling out summerstage last year (and that was an awesome show).

Posted by Anonymous | September 8, 2011 12:01 PM

Where are people getting this 45-minute idea?

Most of these waterfront shows have been 3-band bills.

Kurt Vile / Wild Flag certainly combined for more than 45 mins prior to Sonic Youth, so with a similar showtime, I see BSS getting at least an hour if not 75ish...

Posted by Anonymous | September 8, 2011 1:16 PM

broken social scene goes on at 6:30. which means they will be playing for an absolute minimum of an hour. probably an hour and 20. nice.

Posted by Anonymous | September 8, 2011 2:03 PM

BSS 630-730
TVOR 8-945

Just called Best Buy Theater box office for the set time. He said BSS at 630 and TVOR at 8.

Yes they take 30 mins for set change at this place so max set time for BSS will be an hour.....

Posted by Takk | September 8, 2011 2:21 PM

I feel kinda bad saying this, cause they seem like such nice guys, but... the "experimental set" at the Nitehawk was the most deluded display of no-talent, both visually and audio-wise, that I believe I've ever witnessed in my life. And I was excited for it; I'm into crazy A/V stuff.

Anyone else? Am I losing my mind?

The Nitehawk, on the other hand... great place.

Posted by Anonymous | September 8, 2011 2:22 PM

What time does the show start?

Posted by Anonymous | September 8, 2011 3:01 PM

Yeah, I've been meaning to check out the Nitehawk - cool to see pics of the actual layout.

Posted by Anonymous | September 8, 2011 3:17 PM

Anybody know whether the Nitehawk shows films or just dvds?

Posted by Anonymous | September 8, 2011 4:21 PM

"is there an opener on before BSS tonite? what is the approximate exact perfect time to roll up and avoid having to stand around with you plebes?"

I think if you're rolling into the venue at 6:26, you'll hit it perfectly.

Posted by Anonymous | September 8, 2011 4:44 PM

Hieneken on the Radio...

Posted by Anonymous | September 9, 2011 12:47 AM

Nitehawk shows 35mm and Digital Prints, no DVD. It rules. Wish it was there when I was living in Williamsburg.

Posted by Anonymous | September 9, 2011 1:42 AM

so the show starts at 630pm.....

BSS should get at least 75 mins!

BSS 630-745
TVOR 815-945

Won't this set times make everyone happy? But I know BSS will only get around 45 mins.....
