« What's going on Monday? (Talk Like a Pirate Day) | Radiohead also doing Colbert in NYC, do 'The Twist' »

...So we realized that streaming and DVD by mail are really becoming two different businesses, with very different cost structures, that need to be marketed differently, and we need to let each grow and operate independently.I recommend "We Jam Econo: The Story of the Minutemen" which was actually streaming on Netflix on demand up until recently, but now, just on Qwikster. It's hard to write this after over 10 years of mailing DVDs with pride, but we think it is necessary: In a few weeks, we will rename our DVD by mail service to "Qwikster". We chose the name Qwikster because it refers to quick delivery. We will keep the name "Netflix" for streaming.
Qwikster will be the same website and DVD service that everyone is used to. It is just a new name, and DVD members will go to qwikster.com to access their DVD queues and choose movies. One improvement we will make at launch is to add a video games upgrade option, similar to our upgrade option for Blu-ray, for those who want to rent Wii, PS3 and Xbox 360 games. Members have been asking for video games for many years, but now that DVD by mail has its own team, we are finally getting it done. Other improvements will follow. A negative of the renaming and separation is that the Qwikster.com and Netflix.com websites will not be integrated.
There are no pricing changes (we're done with that!). If you subscribe to both services you will have two entries on your credit card statement, one for Qwikster and one for Netflix. The total will be the same as your current charges. We will let you know in a few weeks when the Qwikster.com website is up and ready.... - Netflix

The Devil and Daniel Johnston is probably the best music documentary of the last 20 years.

"I know a lot of you were rankled when we arbitrarily hiked our streaming prices a month ago, so we're making it up to you by rebranding."

FUCK.
If they really are doing this, they better improve the catalog of their streaming service ASAP.

This is getting too confusing. Someone needs to streamline this shit.

We Jam Econo - Mike Watt driving around in a van for an hour is a little annoying. But not bad.
Pink Floyd: The Dark Side of the Moon - The 'Classic Albums' episode that's a must watch. In fact, most of the classic albums episodes are engrossing.
Kurt Cobain: About a Son - ZZZZZzzzzzzz Terrible 'movie'.

"There are no pricing changes (we're done with that!). If you subscribe to both services you will have two entries on your credit card statement, one for Qwikster and one for Netflix."
So is the monthly total going to be $15.98 for both services as they initially announced, or return to $7.99?

This schmoo Reed "disgrace to the WASP tribe" Hastings emails to say he made a terrible error, explains why in excruciating corporate double-speak, and then concludes by saying he's not going to fix it. And after all that the pricing isn't even clear to reasonable people like 10:30. Hunt the schmoo down and serve him up.

yeah I stopped reading the email as soon as it said the new higher pricing structure wouldn't change.

While the switch was handled poorly, if you're that attached to physical media, I think you've probably got bigger problems than a Netflix rebranding.
Frankly, grandma, it would be unsurprising if all the digital clocks in your house are blinking "88:88".

"The Plight of the Chickpea" is an excellent documentary about central American hummus producers. And the soundtrack has animal collective among others!

the movie industry's gonna follow the music industry's idiot lead and bitch about torrent sites for 10 years before they finally just stream everything and discover that when they stop trying to rip people off with a ridiculously inconvenient scam, most are actually willing to fork over some dough.

Amen to that brother. What the heck happened to LALA.com? I heard apple bought them out. I think something like that would help the music industry.
