Speaking of backlash, Vivian Girls headline Knitting Factory tonight (and it's not even sold out). Widowspeak and Amy Klein open.

i blame daniel gill personally for the failure of the knitting factory show by vivian girls, LLC to have forthwith sold out at this date and time. thank you.

If I wasn't totally lame and tired from work I would run across the Williamsburgh Bridge barefoot for that Deerhoof show.

"deerhoof show is the best show tonight"

this is true for 80%-90% of nights anywhere in the world.

Vivian Girls = harmless, backlash is over since no one cares anymore.

Clap Your Hands and Say Yeah = Actually nice guys, just not very talented. Good PR job though with the full page BV advert

Deerhoof = Hilariously bad band. Most people who liked them 3 or 4 years ago, probably cringe when they see Deerhoof is still on their ipods.

5:50 cool story bro

Call me crazy, (YOU'RE CRAZY!), but I think CYHSY at Bowery will be fun.

kickball katy's ice cream sundae tattoo is in town

5:54, you're not really listening are you? Listen harder and be honest with yourself. Lead singer is painful to listen to, and can't play bass. Drummer isn't even in proper time on their STUDIO records, and the guitarist just wanks. Its bad musicianship parading as art for failed music critics with asian fetishes.

"Speaking of backlash"?

A bit opinionated, methinks BV. Vivian Girls are doing just fine with their half-dozen side-projects keeping the main ship afloat.

Posted by Anonymous | September 20, 2011 6:02 PM

the rapture. on a roof.

Posted by Anonymous | September 20, 2011 6:10 PM

"Suplecs, Lo-Pan, The Brought Low @ Union Pool"

FYI, if you like rock... The Brought Low are playing first, then Lo Pan, and The Suplecs are last.

5:50 / 6:01 - you are a fool, you child. just because you don't like something that doesn't mean it sucks. it means that you suck. and i have seen that you do suck in this case. deerhoof are beyond great, and you ... you just are so not. so go beat off in the shower to pictures of raccoons you little man.

Posted by Anonymous | September 20, 2011 6:31 PM

deerhoof did a good job of watering down their style to appeal to the lcd crowd, which also happens to be the lowest common denominator

Posted by Anonymous | September 20, 2011 6:45 PM

does anyone know the status of smith westerns gear? are they paupers forced to beg in the streets for amps now? are they tied up in court suing the festival? please someone clear up this mystery as i am dieing to know what happened

This dude is going to be totally embarrassed by this comment in five years. He feels passionate about his musical chops, but will cringe once he stops working at Guitar Center and drifts outside of his Rush-comfort zone.

"Lead singer is painful to listen to, and can't play bass. Drummer isn't even in proper time on their STUDIO records, and the guitarist just wanks."

I like the guitar wanking, but I agree, the singer is atrocious. I could deal with the simple basslines, but the singing is terrible.

Posted by Anonymous | September 20, 2011 11:03 PM

Thats crazy that 6:31 PM gets off on raccoons.

But no Deerhoof would be wise to change the vocals to someone else.

"Drummer isn't even in proper time on their STUDIO records"

this is funny. whaddya mean by "proper time?" like he swings too much? greg saunier has an article in 'modern drummer' magazine of all places. (not that I particularly care about that. I'm just saying you can't credibly knock his chops.) weird argument!

and all you all saying "the singing is terrible/get a new singer" etc. y'all have to listen to a few more female rock and roll and punk and blues vocalists across time and space and geography before you go on categorically dissing satomi's pipes! anyway, deerhoof with smoother vox wouldn't be deerhoof.

Posted by full time idiot | September 21, 2011 1:54 AM

Deerhoof is here to stay
Not a flavor of the day
that instantly fades away
further down the road
"important" many will say

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 5:04 AM

Deerhoof singing > Kurt Vile singing > J Mascis singing >>>> Neil Young singing

Fuck all ya haters.

And to the other guy (the same guy?), the drummer is A-FUCKIN-MAZING and if you had the smallest concept of rhythm maybe you wouldn't love his style but you would not make such ignorant comments as saying that he can't keep the beat. Really, it's called swing, Jackass.

Go back to your Wilco CD and leave the discussion to the adults.

anyone who hates on deerhoof needs to rethink life

also last night's show was EPIC

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 8:58 AM

i missed last night's deerhoof show, but they're all epic so i'm not surprised. will see them at ATP

"Deerhoof singing < Kurt Vile singing < J Mascis singing <<<< Neil Young singing"

Couldn't agree more. Well put.
