I ask this seriously and with no snark: Why is everyone always so over the fucking moon about Justice? P'fork, not that it should matter, and it doesn't, what they say, but using them as an example, loses their collective shit anytime that band moves an inch. And, I see them pop up on BV too.

Why?

@237 listen to their new LP.

Posted by Anonymous | October 17, 2011 2:40 PM

^poor man's daft punk

Posted by Anonymous | October 17, 2011 2:41 PM

Is that Carmine Appice in the first pic?

Posted by Anonymous | October 17, 2011 2:42 PM

@ 2:40pm: Can I listen to their new CD or MP3 or does it require a vinyl experience?

Posted by Anonymous | October 17, 2011 2:43 PM

first time i've been closer to an artist than the BV photographer (talking about florence + the machine). i was basically taking pics up her dress.

also first time my pics have been better than the ones on BV

Florence, looking 45 when you're 25 is not a good look. Do something about that.

Posted by Anonymous | October 17, 2011 2:47 PM

does anybody know which camera/lens these pictures were shot with?

Posted by Anonymous | October 17, 2011 2:48 PM

@ 2:48pm: Certainly not all of them, but quite a few were taking with a 50mm lens. You can tell because that's the lens that most replicates the perspective and depth of the human eye.

Posted by Anonymous | October 17, 2011 2:51 PM

@243 fuck format, just listen

start-to-finish it's great. highlights are civilization, canon primo/canon, on'n'on, ohio

Posted by Anonymous | October 17, 2011 2:51 PM

@ 2:48pm: Also, Cartier-Bresson used to always use a 50mm lens on his Leica and if you check out his iconic images, you'll see what I mean. By contrast, and probably my favorite shooter ever, was the mother fucking New York City badass, Garry Winogrand, who would use a wide-angle lens on his Leica and shoot every fucking person he saw.

Posted by Anonymous | October 17, 2011 2:53 PM

@ 2:48pm: And if you want a modern-day total beast of a shooter, there's only one: New York City's own Bruce Gilden. He shoots Leica also, and I'm pretty sure he's rockin' a 28mm Summicron lens with flash. He'll kick your ass six ways from next week and steal your Zola Jesus vinyl too. But for real, check out his work on the Magnum site. It's fucking unreal.

That's your photography lesson for the day. Don't say I never give anything to BV but grammar lessons. Bitches.

was this free? why did i miss this?

Posted by Anonymous | October 17, 2011 3:02 PM

@237 Namechecking Pitchfork first in 'people over the moon about Justice' = you lose before you even tried, check their review of the live album. AVD probably isn't going to get much love. Ed Banger was a beautiful thing for about a year, it'll fall in and out of fashion for next few decades.

Bradford Cox is my least favorite thing about indie music.

Complaints about Saturday
1) Waited for the Field just to realize it was Chairlift who replaced them....
2) No "special guests" after Four Tet played like it was mentioned in the booklet

ps someone give Frohawk a hug......

Posted by Anonymous | October 17, 2011 3:21 PM

Frohawk!!

Posted by Anonymous | October 17, 2011 3:23 PM

i really enjoyed the atlas sound set. that set was def one of the highlights of the evening.

Posted by Anonymous | October 17, 2011 3:40 PM

2:42 wins the internet for today. Everyone else go home, and come back tomorrow.

Posted by Anonymous | October 17, 2011 3:44 PM

@321 all of your problems would've been solved by:

1.) realizing you were looking at the incorrect schedule
2.) going to your nearest staff table and asking for the revised schedule

revised schedule showed that the field had been cancelled and chairlift took their spot. also said there was no special guest and gave new set times for all acts.

Posted by Anonymous | October 17, 2011 3:47 PM

All things considered, I'd much rather look at the girl from Chairlift while listening to Field's music in headphones. Hahahahaha, am I right, kids? Put down your medium-rare Billyburgers and just tell me I'm right. Mmmhmm. She's a stone cold fox. She should lose the panties though as I hate seeing those lines in her outfit.

Posted by Anonymous | October 17, 2011 3:59 PM

i asked about 4 people if there were changes to the schedule (specifically asking if the four tet set time had changed), and the response was "i don't know... is four tet a movie?"

Posted by Anonymous | October 17, 2011 4:08 PM

i LOVED that movie. i think vince gallo was in it, right? took place mostly on bedford avenue. karen orzolek got her fly tattoo in one of the big, ahem, climax scenes. fuckin' indie cinema is the best.

the black leotard is the standard "high school nerd girl makes herself over to become hot and surprise the evil jocks" outfit.

didn't you guys see "she's all that"????

Yuksek sold me tons of drugs at Union Pool last night.

i don't know who john maus is but i take it that all he does in his performance is scream?

John Maus is the embarassment of the world.

Frohawk was really nice when I introduced myself to him at Atlas Sound.
