Elvis Costello

Elvis Costello's cancelled and then doubly rescheduled date happened last night (10/6) at Wellmont Theatre in NJ. The show featured the great songwriter's now infamous Spectacular Spinning Songbook. Pictures from the wheel-generated 2 hour and 15 minute show are in this post.

Last week Elvis hit United Palace in NYC where some special guests got to take a spin: a little boy and Mary Louise Parker.

Round and round she goes, where she stops, nobody knows... though sometimes Costello may have influence. After one spin at Wellmont last night, the wheel didn't end on "Time" like the spinner had hoped, so Elvis bumped the wheel back one notch and said, "If I can't cheat in New Jersey where can I cheat?"

Costello does it again at Wellmont Theater TONIGHT (10/6) and tickets are still available. More pictures from last night are below...

SPOILER ALERT. FUCK.

Posted by Anonymous | October 6, 2011 2:29 PM

guess no one reported on the costello show at the paramount theater in huntington, long island on 9/30.

after the audience wouldn't quiet down during his unamplified singing of 'slow drag with josephine,' the king of america threw a hissy fit and walked offf - not to return.

having seen the man 90 times since '78 and knowing his shows are 2+ hours with a minimum of 30 songs played at these shows, the 21 songs he played in huntington was a complete RIPOFF.

he's a seasoned entertainer who should have thicker skin by now.

maybe he's trying to pull a jihnny rotten ("ever get the feeling you've been CHEATED?")

i love the suit he's wearing. however, my question is ... hasn't yo la tengo done kinda the same thing with their wheel? did elvis do this way prior to the hoboken kids or is he ripping them off?

would love it if mary louise parker was dancing in that cage.

Posted by Anonymous | October 6, 2011 2:44 PM

Elvis did it first, Yo La Tengo copied it but fully acknowledged where the idea came from...

the above pics are from Wellmont last night

Mary Louise Parker was at the Union Palace show on Saturday. yes, she danced in the cage -- she actually followed a drunk girl who was dancing in the cage and MLP made a joke about wanting sanitizer before going in there.

This report is from last night's concert--which was GREAT. But it was 10/5, NOT 10/6, as stated at the top of the article. *That's* tonight!

And now I'm bummed that I didn't spot Stephen Colbert. I SO wish he had been in the cage!!

I think he looks sharp, either way, Elvis Costello has certainly earned the right to be a pompous ass
