Hank

"I have always been very passionate about Politics and Sports and this time it got the Best or Worst of me. The thought of the Leaders of both Parties Jukin and High Fiven on a Golf course, while so many Families are Struggling to get by simply made me Boil over and make a Dumb statement and I am very Sorry if it Offended anyone. I would like to Thank all my supporters. This was Not written by some Publicist." -- Hank Williams Jr
To that Gawker says, "You don't say, Hank."

The offense happened on Fox News believe it or not. Video below...

shout out to the elementary school teacher who taught him about capitalization!

Posted by Anonymous | October 4, 2011 8:00 PM

you shouldn't judge a man's music by his politics, but it always helps to point out that one always goes right from Hank I to Hank III, skipping Junior each and every time.

Posted by Anonymous | October 4, 2011 8:06 PM

No, he's not.

Posted by Anonymous | October 4, 2011 8:18 PM

> shout out to the elementary school teacher who taught him about capitalization!

Hey, dumbass. Perhaps you should start to look into the art of capitalization yourself and start with the first letter of the sentence.

Posted by Anonymous | October 4, 2011 8:37 PM

he did not compare obama to hitler.
P.C.-poisoned americans have a real problem with reading and understanding what they've read,

In the Country this Shape is innn?!?

Posted by Anonymous | October 4, 2011 8:54 PM

It's obvious that the point was that these are polar opposites - competing factions - playing golf while millions of Americans are suffering. Poor choice of analogies on his part though.

The mindless and creepy adulation of Obama in '08 had a mildly totalitarian vibe to it, but one can hardly blame a guy who stood in front of a teleprompter night after night uttering boilerplate platitudes for turning lefties into an army of North Korean style sycophants.

I'd like to apologize for comparing Frohawk to BEAAAAAANS

Posted by Anonymous | October 4, 2011 10:48 PM

Hank was indeed indirectly comparing BO to Hitler through the use of an
analogy-

Obama:Boehner:: Hitler: Netanyahu

Jesus.

Rednecks + Nitwits

Posted by Anonymous | October 4, 2011 10:53 PM

Why does 10:53 hate complete and coherent sentences?

Posted by Anonymous | October 4, 2011 11:16 PM

"It's obvious that the point was that these are polar opposites - competing factions"

But Tea Party/GOP people wave posters of Obama with a hitler mustache and they call Obama Hitler. So it's not just comparing opposites.

"The mindless and creepy adulation of Obama in '08 had a mildly totalitarian vibe"

Ha, it sounds like you have one of these posters in your closet.

Posted by JL | October 4, 2011 11:34 PM

The Obama/Hitler stuff is principally Larouche nutbags, and I don't even know where those kooks fit on the political spectrum.

Posted by Anonymous | October 4, 2011 11:42 PM

im sure if a Democrat did this, you would totally defend his analogy too right? he didnt mean it literally. was it taken out of context?

Posted by Anonymous | October 4, 2011 11:55 PM

I'm not suggesting that it was taken out of context so much as I'm empathetic to the fact that he's a celebrity moron who employed a witless analogy. Likewise, I don't get particularly bent out of shape when high-school-educated imbeciles like Sean Penn and Janeane Garofalo say jaw-droppingly stupid and incendiary things.

It's really only when people who are smart enough to know better go down roads like this that it strikes me as worth being appalled.

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2011 12:05 AM

No it was taken in context on fox news.

Hank might have misspoke, but he's not alone when he compares Obama to hitler. There is a history there, where people do this.

Stupid rednecks.

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2011 5:49 AM

I am no fan of Obama, but to anyone who has compared him to Hitler, I have to ask if you really have any understanding of what Hitler did.

Maybe you should read a book on the Holocaust, one with pictures.

I'm not suggesting a picture book because I don't think you can read, which maybe you can't, but maybe the pictures will inform you of some of the true atrocities that occurred under Hitler's rule.

Posted by Learn your history, don't repeat it | October 5, 2011 6:34 AM

^Thank you!

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2011 7:27 AM

Hank, when you say "I'm sorry if I offended anyone," then that's not an apology.

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2011 8:17 AM

He didn't compare Obama to Hitler. He made used a metaphor that was about a golf match. For those too stupid to understand or too blind to see, a metaphor is used to illustrate a concept not to ascribe traits to any character.

It's no wonder the median reading comprehension scores are in the toilet these days. You twats have been cheated by a public educational system that is more concerned with preserving teachers' jobs than in educating students.

And yes, Obama does not have a plan or a clue on how to get us out of this mess that he has personally made worse by his ineptitude, but he does like to play him some golf!

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2011 8:34 AM

^^ correction: "He used a metaphor that involved a golf match"

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2011 8:35 AM

@8:34
And how would you rate Jr.'s metaphor?
Does it make any sense to you?
Please explain in the form of an essay.

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2011 9:23 AM

I'd also like someone to unpack the metaphor about a guy who's been dead for almost 70 years playing golf with the prime minister of a country that didn't even exist when he was alive.

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2011 9:36 AM

Insane Clown Pose > Jr + 8:34.

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2011 9:46 AM

Big surprise that someone like him doesn't like Obama. I'm shocked. Stick to the singing, Hank. At least your son does well.

That being said, I've been sick of all this swarming PC nonsense and forced apologies for the longest time. Just once, I would like to have someone in this county in particular go, "No, I'm not sorry. Fuck you, I'm glad I said it, and I'll say it again if I want to".

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2011 9:51 AM

^ you mean like Donald Trump? like Ron Paul? like Dick Chaney?

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2011 10:14 AM

Yeah, but those get passed under the radar so quickly it doesn't even feel like much. The "apologies" are more media-fellatable.

A sore bunghole from habanero diarrhea >>> 9:46

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2011 10:32 AM

Have not watched the video, but from reading the comments it sounds like he was saying Obama and Boehner play golf together, but are in different political parties (so they must hate each other?), that's like Adolph Hitler (who notoriously hated Jewish people) playing golf with Benjamin Netanyahu (who was Jewish, and was the prime minister of Israel, the Jewish State). While Israel did not exist at the time Adolph Hitler was alive, presumably, given his well documented disdain for the Jewish, he would not have liked Israel one bit. For that matter, Zionism was a movement/school of thought that did exist when Hitler was alive, so he may have even expressed a view on a proposed Jewish state at some point. Thanks for listening guys.

-Hank

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2011 10:32 AM

this video makes it clear that this guy doesn't put a lot of thought into his opinions. he got on fox just to say his obama/hitler thing, which he thought was super clever and wouldn't have any consequences. he looks and sounds drunk too.

fuck hank jr and his stillborn opinions. just another moron confusing passionate ignorance with critical thought.

"I am very Sorry if it Offended anyone" = NOT an apology.

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2011 10:52 AM

no apology neccesary. if you want to read offense into it, be my guest, but as a Jew I don't see him calling the president Hitler.

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2011 10:58 AM

Must suck to know your father did more in 29 years than you could do in a thousand.

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2011 11:11 AM

he should be sorry for that beard.

"I am truly sorry for offending anyone in any way. I never meant to." now that's an apology, Johnny Depp!

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2011 12:50 PM

Are you joking, 12:50? Do you actually forget the frequency of the comparisons between Bush and Hitler/Nazis?

Just off the top of my head, Janeane Garofalo called the Bush Administration the 43rd Reich on CNN and Jon Steward compared Laura Bush to Hitler's dog.

Game. Set. Match. Blow me.

Posted by Anonymous | October 6, 2011 3:32 AM

3:32 - you get the red herring of the day award! Congrats! Should we also bring up all those Democratic politicians that opposed integration and equal rights for African Americans too? How about FDR's complicit knowledge of the bombing of Pearl Harbor before it happened?

Some people should really not be permitted to play in the big boy's sandbox until they are proven as proficient in the use of logic. You, sir, are amoung this lot.

Posted by Anonymous | October 6, 2011 7:55 AM

Dixie Chicks talk smack about Bush and they get on the cover of Rolling Stone.

Hand Jr. talks smack about Oblahblah and he gets kicked off MNF.

Yup, that's about right. The liberal establishment media have no shame in throwing their weight around to manipulate you into seeing things in the manner that suits their ends.

The first step to liberation is to open your eyes.
