Parts & Labor

Dear friends,

This January, Parts & Labor turns 10 years old. We're planning a string of celebratory shows, in which we play selected material from all of our full length albums, leading up to a big 10th anniversary blow out on February 24th, 2012.

Following these performances, we're going to take an extended hiatus. We feel incredibly fortunate having had a decade of amazing experiences -- making records and new friends, performing with so many killer musicians and artists. But it's time for each of us to focus on personal projects for a while. We're all going to continue to make music through other endeavors.

We'd like to thank everyone who's supported us, bought our albums, seen us live, offered us a floor to sleep on. We love y'all. As a token of our esteem, we're giving away a final song called "No Nostalgia (featuring Todd Bailey and Where's The Party At)", which was recorded during the Receivers sessions, but suddenly seems all too prescient.

Dan/BJ/Joe (Parts & Labor)

Parts & Labor will spend the next three shows focusing on their previous material leading up to that big February blowout. TONIGHT at Union Pool (10/19) they'll play songs from Receivers alongside A Place to Bury Strangers (who also play the BV day party Friday), Exitmusic, Gauntlet Hair, and Porcelain Raft as part of the Jagjaguawar/Secretly Canadian/Dead Oceans CMJ Showcase. Advance tickets are sold out, but there will be tickets at the door and you can try to get in with your CMJ badge (get there early).

The next two gigs will fall a month apart and focus on Mapmaker and Stay Afraid respectively. Look for Parts & Labor at Death By Audio on 11/18 with Knyfe Hyts and Antimagic and on 12/16 at Knitting Factory with Pterodactyl.

The final (known) Parts & Labor gig will feature Oneida, Talk Normal and more TBA, and will go down on 2/24 at 285 Kent.

good, the more useless indie rock that goes away, the better. too many white ppl making music these days. you see their awful A/V cover of kanye? that's exactly what i'm talking about.

It would make sense if "hiatus" meant "We are going back to selling auto parts and fixing cars", right?

Great band. Shame they're burying them, and wish "Receivers" wasn't conflicting with CMJ.

after ten years and ten drummers, p&l is going on hiatus to search for more drummers.

4:01, is that really true? The time I saw them I was really turned off by their overplaying drummer!

A good insight and ideas.. I will use it in my article. You’ve obviously spent a lot of time on this. Congratulations!
