Smashing Pumpkins

"This is the craziest time for The Smashing Pumpkins since the mid-'90s," says Billy Corgan over a cup of tea in his dressing room at New York's Terminal 5. "We just finished Oceania, but we don't know when it's coming out. We don't have management, and we don't have a record label. We don't know what we're doing or when we're doing it." [Music Radar]
Billy Corgan brought the latest iteration of Smashing Pumpkins to Terminal 5 in NYC on Tuesday (10/18), part of an ongoing October tour. More pictures & the setlist below...

Now I know to wear a wig when I go bald.

Posted by fat | October 20, 2011 10:59 PM

Posted by Anonymous | October 20, 2011 11:26 PM

Isn't that bass player in the Dum Dum Girls?

Posted by Anonymous | October 20, 2011 11:27 PM

Billy has always been Smashing Pumpkins. Thats what happens when you write every song

Posted by Anonymous | October 20, 2011 11:28 PM

wait...what?! $500 for an autographed poster?! pfft.

Posted by Anonymous | October 20, 2011 11:28 PM

despite all my rage i am still just a fat-pig-egomaniac-who-can't-keep-a-band-together-and-model-myself-after-axl-rose's-business-model in a cage.

however, props on the bass player. i have no idea if she can play or not, but she looks fucking fantastic.

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2011 12:16 AM

they sucked live when I was a teenager. can't imagine how bad they are now old.

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2011 12:25 AM

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2011 12:47 AM

Who are the freaks that keep buying tickets to see this shitshow?

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2011 12:51 AM

smashing pumpkins died in 2000. now they are like the who.

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2011 12:58 AM

Billy Corgan used to bone courtney love

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2011 12:59 AM

But somehow the hate is reserved for phish...this shit is just utterly sad and ridiculous

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2011 1:06 AM

SO MANY DUDES.

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2011 1:53 AM

The bass player is one of the twins from Siamese Dream. Fact.

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2011 1:58 AM

@1:58 good job at being a tool

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2011 2:54 AM

Shitty band. Shitty pictures.

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2011 2:57 AM

"The world is a chickpea ..."

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2011 7:37 AM

I am honestly more interested in seeing pics of Billy Corgan's pedalboard / rig than I am pictures of them posing or the setlist.

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2011 7:39 AM

Great great band----> So Many Dudes

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2011 7:52 AM

chub rock. this is depressing.

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2011 8:07 AM

GAY

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2011 8:37 AM

1:58 it was unconfirmed

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2011 8:37 AM

I loved them in the 90's. Now his voice gives me hives. The music didn't age well. But looking back, I think the reason I liked them because Jimmy was a kickass drummer, and he propelled them.

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2011 8:42 AM

8:37 - she claims it, and IIRC the photographer confirmed it

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2011 8:43 AM

That scum bag has been eating hummus since day one... and yeah that is a Wig Billy is wearing...

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2011 8:52 AM

jesus guys do a google search. the Siamese Dream/Bass Player thing is/was a hoax.

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2011 9:27 AM

@8:43 Wikipedia says otherwise: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siamese_Dream#Packaging

"Given Fiorentino's age at the time of the album, this would make her too old to be on the cover of the album. It was later confirmed that the information was false, and both girls has been located in 2008, though Corgan has not commented on this."

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2011 9:45 AM

Oh, Wikipedia so it's got to be true, right?
fucking sheeple!

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2011 9:51 AM

^ So that means Wikipedia is wrong about everything? Please. Wikipedia is usually pretty accurate on most of everything it lists.

So let's see what sources YOU would recommend.

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2011 10:18 AM

^^ dude, I'm just playing with you. I could really care less if it was her or not. I will say that I have observed that Wikipedia is not "pretty accurate on most everything it lists" however. There is a clear bias to the entries, and I know personally of cases where attempts to correct information on Wikipedia have been blocked in spite of cited credible evidence to the contrary.

But about Siamese Dream .... I could really give a shit :-)

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2011 10:31 AM

If you take out every song recorded after 1997, that's actually a pretty good setlist. Pissant? Frail and Bedazzled? Would've been awesome 15 years ago.

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2011 10:35 AM

Agrees with 10:35

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2011 10:44 AM

meh

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2011 10:50 AM

I didn't know Private Pyle could play keys too.

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2011 11:08 AM

Smashing Plumpkins

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2011 11:14 AM

Wow. $500 for an autographed poster. Buy it early in the show and the ass beating comes free.

-But seriously...I wouldn't have even payed for the ticket to get in.

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2011 11:22 AM

I understand that Billy Corgan is a bald man who plays guitar, and may or may not enjoy hummus. But does anyone know if the show was any good?

Posted by balance | October 21, 2011 11:27 AM

Frank does bald and fat so much better than Billyhog

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2011 11:31 AM

Please god- let some horrible stage accident kill Billy Coragan, the world suffered enough in the 90's with that bald crooked toothed kiddie stuffer.A talentless hack and a dictator of a band leader,he reminds me of the Jay Leno of corporate rawk. Kids don't forget your PCP.

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2011 11:36 AM

fuck the haters. amazing setlist.

see you in philly pumpkins.

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2011 11:57 AM

even in 1991 when they were good on record they were awful live. it's twenty years later - who are the fans at this?

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2011 11:58 AM

i have a bootleg of SP from 1993... they sounded absolutely terrible.

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2011 12:15 PM

Is Jimmy Chamberlin still in the band? They ain't shit without him. The albums without him sucked.

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2011 12:25 PM

Billy combines many of the bad things about 90's rock all into one big package. It's all "me! me! me! My pain! No one understands me!"

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2011 12:28 PM

12:28 you actually listen to the words? SP were never trying to be Dylan, dumbass. It's all about the guitar sounds and the vibe. Everything else is pure shite, lyrics included. That goes for most indie rick from the 90's, actually

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2011 12:34 PM

^ yeah, indie rock too

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2011 12:35 PM

pretty good setlist though. STARLA

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2011 12:39 PM

Agrees with 10:35

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2011 12:41 PM

@11:08 FTMFW

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2011 12:48 PM

10:31: I know Wikipedia can be faulty sometimes with those bias issues you described and the fact that people can also sabotage articles fairly easily. I was simply indicating that it can still be helpful despite the fact that those issues can justifiably arouse scepticism, which is understandable.

On another note, holy shit that $500 poster is the definition of highway robbery!

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2011 12:57 PM

wow, smashing pumpkins are amazing, cant believe how many yahoos there are on BV these days. are you people just posting here to feel cool?

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2011 1:10 PM

I'm pretty sure the definition of highway robbery is when someone robs you on the highway.

Posted by Robin Hood | October 21, 2011 1:14 PM

Rammstein 4eva!

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2011 1:15 PM

TSP Killed T5!

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2011 1:19 PM

one of the three or four bands from that shit decade I credit with inventing sincerity as a gimmick in rock music

Posted by jobo | October 21, 2011 1:36 PM

Wow - he's touring with a Mellotron? That must require some serious maintenance and roadie-ing.

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2011 1:46 PM

I predict that poster will go the entire tour without being sold, and will show up on FleaBay around the spring and sell for something like $125 (after going 3 or 4 rounds without a bid).

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2011 1:52 PM

not that it's worth continuing discussion on, but the wikipedia page has a link to corgan's twitter account where he says "Just found out the weirdest news: our bass player Nicole (@xocoleyf) just admitted she is one of the girls on the cover of Siamese Dream". straight from the horse's mouth.

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2011 1:55 PM

^yeah that was the initial report but then it was confirmed later that it was not true!!

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2011 2:03 PM

$500 would be a lot to spend even on a signed lp of Gish with all the original members signatures..I would pay $5 for that. I mean if someone really wanted they could meet the band after the show and it'll cost next to nothing to get it signed.

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2011 2:04 PM

^ I mean I would pay $5 for the T5 signed poster

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2011 2:09 PM

1:14 (No, I don't care what your pseudonym is): Actually, highway robbery is when highway construction material gets stolen.

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2011 2:51 PM

2 thoughts; If Billy Corgan "is the smashing pumpkins" and the only member who matters then why does all the later material suck? Also, um, why does he look like a roadie for Korn?

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2011 3:21 PM

Show sucked. Way too much of the new stuff that hasn't even been released yet. It just sapped the energy from the room. The crowd was completely out of it for 90% of the show.

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2011 3:50 PM

Bill Corgan looks like a cabbage patch doll.

Posted by Really | October 21, 2011 4:56 PM

@12:34 Wow. I'm a dumbass because I actually listen to lyrics when I listen to music. What world do you live in, where you are stupid for being an active listener?

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2011 5:13 PM

I remember seeing the Smashing PKINS at The tibet freedom cncrt at Randals Island around 1997, Billy flipped put on stage at some guy with a wife beater and facial hair that he did not agree with. Billy what was up with that. PS I am glad you are back play some hits for the fans of Gish.

Posted by WOWezowie | October 21, 2011 6:48 PM

@6:48 The Pumpkins were not at that show. Maybe you're thinking of the '94 Lollapalooza show there?

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2011 6:53 PM

I am honestly more interested in seeing pics of Billy Corgan's pedalboard / rig than I am pictures of them posing or the setlist.

Yes, me too for sure...!

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2011 6:58 PM

smashing pumpkins is straight up amazing

Posted by jordon | August 12, 2013 8:26 PM
