Jim Dandy Mangrum from Black Oak Arkansas?
Posted by Anonymous | October 29, 2011 6:46 PM
I'm really happy I always keep a spare thing of hummus in my fridge. This inclement weather would have been a drag to walk to mamouns in.

Is it possible that the top secret government HAARP system (which controls weather) was utilized to create this freak storm to cause a thinning out of the OWS protestors? Hmmm...

Mangum highlights: Pree/Grow, Oh Comely, Two Headed Boy (1 & 2), Gardenhead, Naomi. He seemed really into it the whole time. Crowd were idiots as per usual for NYC, some douche yelling out "What's your favorite book?" A great show... hoped for a longer set but oh well. Worth the hype nevertheless.
Posted by Anonymous | October 30, 2011 2:03 AM
I thought the crowd wasn't too bad. Jeff was encouraging the crowd to sing and shout stuff at him. The favorite book comment wasn't that bad, better than the obligatory cry of "I love you." Quite a standing ovation too, almost thought he was gonna come out for a second encore. Set-list was same as you'd expect with a Roky Erickson cover that he's been doing lately.

I think the only people interested in Jeff Mangum are those that are too young to have gone to NMH shows in the '90s. Sorry that your generation has shitty music and you have to hype has-beens that never really were.

anyone go see the Obits show? Had a ticket but I blew it off after slushing around all day and night. I'm sure if I got there they would have blown the cobwebs away..

Fuck this, MOAR DANZIG COMMENTS PLEEZ!
To hell with all the Mangum ones, don't let it get MOAR than theeee Danzig ones! Hoo hah!

NOBODY was listening to Jeff Mangum in the '90s
Posted by Anonymous | October 30, 2011 12:37 PM
Obits were good. They performed as Dr. Simpsons and the Disorderlies. Good set with the new drummer. One new song (to me at least).
Office of Future Plans were good. Typical J Robbin sound. One members played cello/viola for half the set. They were selling a 7" single, album out soon.
