Yot

After the boat cruise on Saturday, my original plan was to hit Santos for Youth of Today but that was before I heard about the surprise show at the infinitely smaller Acheron later that night (10/22). Featuring appearances from The Last Stand (mem Inhuman) and Mouthpiece, the show sold out around 12 midnight with 150 lucky people crammed into the venue. I caught some of The Last Stand's NYHC before slipping out to catch a drink and returning in time for Youth of Today. As tight as ever, the "youth" crew played many highlights from their catalog including the entire Disengage 7", "Break Down The Walls", "Flame Still Burns", "Positive Outlook", "Take A Stand", and even a cover of "Minor Threat". Though the band was tight and well-executed, I noticed that Ray Cappo's screaming voice was gone, a fact that wasn't apparent at the Mohawk show during Chaos in Tejas. How was it at Santos? Regardless, the crowd was beyond pumped and so was I.

Pictures are on the way. Meanwhile check out the videos below...

They were awesome at Santos. Douchebag doormen need to lighten up. Retards think they're manning the door of a Oscar's red carpet party.

Losers.

im 31 now and felt like i was 14 at santos...awesome time.

Posted by Anonymous | October 24, 2011 3:23 PM

I heard about this show last week, and totally skipped that shit show at Santos. What a poorly booked show.

Goat Free Youth!

Posted by Anonymous | October 24, 2011 3:46 PM

anyone who is 31 and goes to a show like this needs to think long and hard about their life

Posted by Anonymous | October 24, 2011 3:50 PM

3:50 goes to Crystal Castles shows and thinks thats as good as it gets.

Bitch ass.

Posted by Anonymous | October 24, 2011 3:53 PM

At 19, 3:50's still trying to find himself.

Posted by Anonymous | October 24, 2011 3:56 PM

haha^you're 31 years old and go to see 40 year old dudes play a style of music aimed at naive and angry teenagers.

Hahaha.

Both audience and performers need to kill themselves

Ray's awesome in those Fast and Furious movies

Posted by Anonymous | October 24, 2011 3:59 PM

what year is it?

Posted by Anonymous | October 24, 2011 4:19 PM

Why are some of you so caught up on age???
Oh I know why, you aren't into real HC at all and are probably a Hipster Douchebag.

Posted by Anonymous | October 24, 2011 4:20 PM

...and people make fun of greatful dead fans...

Posted by nygrump | October 24, 2011 4:28 PM

4:20 I don't maybe because the lyrics, music, politics and sensibilities of HC are markedly juvenile and meant for adolescents?

Posted by Anonymous | October 24, 2011 4:31 PM

4:31 is still having a very hard time with his/her English grammar. Probably European ... Swedish?

Posted by Anonymous | October 24, 2011 4:42 PM

3:58 completely misses the point. Will end up selling insurance when he gets older.

Posted by Anonymous | October 24, 2011 4:45 PM

As a 31 year old man, I can't not even begin to try to explain to you what a point of pride it is to be GOAT FREE.

Posted by Anonymous | October 24, 2011 4:45 PM

4:45 I am older. One of my friends plays in a band with one of the guys who is in this lineup of YOT (and he is in fact 40). He was mortified that this dude was going to be playing these YOT shows and quit the band. Trust me, if you are over 21 HC is not a good look.

Posted by Anonymous | October 24, 2011 4:48 PM

4:48 too stupid and too easy to follow up. Get back to your head barista job and shut up.

Posted by Anonymous | October 24, 2011 5:08 PM

Haha old guy straight edge dudes.

Posted by Anonymous | October 24, 2011 5:19 PM

they have a name for self-described arbiters of what is and what's not a "good look." want a hint? begins with F and end in AG.

Posted by Anonymous | October 24, 2011 5:30 PM

I'm a 39yo Female and I had an amazing time at the YoT show. Brought me right back to when I was 15 and the NYHC scene. These songs are simple and about positivity and sometimes with all the shit that goes on in this world, that's just what you need to be surrounded by for a moment.
Screw you 3:50, analyze your own life. And you 3:58...go back to Ohio.

Posted by Anonymous | October 24, 2011 5:45 PM

I endorse bands prior to the shitfork marketing take over. YOT!

Posted by Anonymous | October 24, 2011 5:49 PM

I'm 35 and I eat hummus a minimum of 3 times per week. Is that acceptable?

Posted by Anonymous | October 24, 2011 5:57 PM

5:19-I'm 39 and straight edge. I also look at least ten years younger than I am and am in great shape. I could care less what others do with their lives, but I will never understand why weak little cunts get so upset when someone decides not to poison/prematurely age themselves. Enjoy your soon-to-be arriving beer gut and leather skin, you twat.

Posted by Anonymous | October 24, 2011 7:18 PM

sleeping bags.

Posted by Anonymous | October 24, 2011 8:48 PM

i'm 62 and if you threw a medicine ball at me, i would catch it and throw it back to you. not because i'm in great shape, but because it's the polite thing to do.

Posted by Anonymous | October 24, 2011 8:53 PM

Hey 62, you're a real mensch and sound like you're still thriving in those golden years. I hope when I'm you're age I will have the dignity to be so polite as well but who knows what shape I'll be in considering my cunt is weak because I've chosen to poison/prematurely age myself. I would look 10 years younger than I am but due to a non straight edge lifestyle and having sexual partners other than myself I look like Benjamin Buttons at age 8. G'ay la vie.

mic check

Posted by Anonymous | October 24, 2011 11:28 PM

9:19-1)Trying way too hard. 2) nothing you said made my previous statements untrue. Keep trying though.3) If you are going to impersonate Porcell, at least spell the name right.

awesome meltdowns here! truly the internet at its finest...

anyone who gets so caught up in what other people do with their lives that they spend all their time talking shit anonymously on BV should probably follow their own advice...

Posted by Anonymous | October 25, 2011 8:24 AM

I was completely straight edge until I finally found a hook up for pot and beer. It's not always easy when you're 14 in the suburbs.

Posted by Anonymous | October 25, 2011 9:36 AM

Santos was great! I think Ken Olden from World's Collide and Damnation AD was on bass, and the drummer was lightning fast! Vox were a little tough, but jams were tight, quick, and super energetic.

But Trash Talk was better.

Posted by Anonymous | October 25, 2011 9:38 AM

kids making fun of older dudes in bands.......that they themselves rip off.irony

Posted by Anonymous | October 25, 2011 9:54 AM

They sound great but Ray isn't singing the way he used to which is what made the band so unique..oh well..

Posted by Anonymous | October 25, 2011 10:10 AM

Why are people excited about and supportive of late 80's "reunion", "washed up" and "old" HC bands? Because many new ones SUCK, have no originality and have zero staying power.

Will YOT be rememberd and emulated in yet another 20 years? I'd say so.

Posted by Anonymous | October 25, 2011 11:32 AM

9:54 AM- Exactly

Posted by Anonymous | October 25, 2011 11:47 AM

'the entire Disengage 7"' 3 songs, how incredible.

Posted by Anonymous | October 25, 2011 2:26 PM

old friends playing songs they love for other people who also love those songs is an odd thing for anyone to be mad/opinionated about. if you dont get that, then youre probably part of the societal majority that unwittingly sends our world into an intellectual and philosophical black hole. its cool, though, keep thinking youre making a real change by ordering your free trade black coffee and wearing your scarf and fedora in august.

also, thats a goat free youth shirt hes wearing, popular in scandinavia as a backlash to all the black metal bands. jus' sayin'...
