AMNY: When did you discover the music of the '90s?
When I was around 17, I got introduced to some really good stuff by my friends, like Lambchop, Smog, Dinosaur Jr. and Will Oldham. That had a massive significance. It's the best feeling when someone shows you something new.

Many reviews said you seemed nervous onstage during Yuck's first shows. Has that changed?
We made these songs in Max's room without any fans. We didn't even know we'd be putting a record out. Then, suddenly, we're playing in New York. I guess it's something you get used to. Music is quite a personal thing -- it's abstract, and it's sometimes difficult to understand how people are connecting with what you're doing.

What was your first visit to New York like?
We had loads of issues with visas. We played a show at Glasslands where we had to rush from the airport and go right onstage. Then, on our second visit, we heard gunshots as we were checking into our hotel. That was interesting coming from the U.K., where we don't really have guns.

Yuck played two nights at Music Hall of Williamsburg with Porcelain Raft this past week. Gross Magic was also supposed to play both shows, but cancelled. Cassie Ramone's band The Babies filled in, and play again at Bruar Falls tonight (she also recently DJed 285 Kent). Pictures from 10/13 adorn this post.

Yuck recently released a deluxe version of their self-titled LP for Fat Possum Records which includes a new song called "Soothe Me". Stream that below.

Yuck are finished with their US dates for now, excpet for a previously announced date on the Weezer Cruise in the new year. All international tour dates, that song stream, and more pictures from Music hall of Williamsburg are below.

This couldn't have been a sellout. Are we moving on to something other than grunge soon? Grunge is shit.

Is Yuck the new Jesus? Is John Maus the new Wesley Willis or the new Eric Roberts?! What's happening?!

Posted by Anonymous | October 18, 2011 3:48 AM

I like Yuck. Stop being fart faces.

Posted by Anonymous | October 18, 2011 7:31 AM

I thought they were really good....must have gotten a lot better from earlier when people here said they were bad.

Posted by Anonymous | October 18, 2011 8:06 AM

ha. anyone hating on yuck should probably give them a listen. they're actually really good.

Posted by Anonymous | October 18, 2011 8:20 AM

I also enjoy The Yuck.

The Babies have never been the same since their keyboard player went to Journey.

that dude in Yuck makes me want to piss on his jewfro

There's something about Cassie Ramone that I find very attractive. I don't know if its her dirty hair, her smokey clothes, or the ever-present bags under eyes, but there's something very alluring about her homeliness. I'm serious, by the way.

^ you probably haven't got laid in a bit.

Posted by Anonymous | October 18, 2011 10:18 AM

I'd tap that shit

Posted by Anonymous | October 18, 2011 10:33 AM

The babies are great you guys har haters. Yuck album is pretty darn good, but they just act like they are having a bad time when playing live. Porcelain raft dude is way to old to be crooning into a mic by himself on stage back by "chillwave" beats.

Posted by Anonymous | October 18, 2011 10:57 AM

Not as good as the Smiths.

Posted by Anonymous | October 18, 2011 11:21 AM

The couple of songs I heard by Yuck were pretty good, although it is not disputed that the band name is, well, yucky. The singer looks an awful lot like a young Robert Zimmerman.

Posted by Anonymous | October 18, 2011 11:24 AM

Good thing he got that Fender Jaguar to utilize all of its myriad sonic possibilities. Oh wait. He taped over all the switches. It just makes one sound now. Cool.

btw that song up there is about 2 and a half minutes too long.

To the kind soul who gave me a boost during the amazing performance of the babies, I'd like to see the pictures your friend took of me clutching on your back likely crushing your chest

Cassie's been a bad girl. She needs to be spanked until her ass cheeks turn rosey pink. And then it's time to pay your dues, young lady.

Posted by Anonymous | October 18, 2011 12:31 PM

"The singer looks an awful lot like a young Robert Zimmerman."

I have been thinking the same exact thing.

Posted by Anonymous | October 18, 2011 12:48 PM

Yea ! i Agree in they're actually really, good work !
