Mangum

Though Jeff Mangum's 1/20 Brooklyn show @ BAM was announced with an 11/11 @ noon onsale, it went on sale earlier today. Not sure if it's completely sold out yet, but a 1/21 show was just added and now both (or at least one) are on sale now.

Posted by Anonymous | November 11, 2011 11:30 AM

Balls. Wish they wouldve had tickets for sale for both shows at the same time.

Posted by Anonymous | November 11, 2011 11:30 AM

Wish they would've had a Friends of BAM presale for the 2nd date. I pay for my BAM membership, yet can only get balcony seats? I'll pass.

Posted by Anonymous | November 11, 2011 11:33 AM

I got my tix for 1/20 at 10 on the dot and the best seats left were on the balcony.

Posted by Anonymous | November 11, 2011 11:35 AM

Nothing for 15 years, now everywhere I look I see Jeff Mangum.

Posted by Anonymous | November 11, 2011 11:36 AM

@1135 I feel you. I was also there IMMEDIATELY when the saturday 1/21 show was announced/put onsale and the best I could pull was orchestra center left, row M. which isn't terrible, i'll admit, but where did all the good tix go?

Posted by Anonymous | November 11, 2011 11:37 AM

YAWN! In much more important news EMI was finally sold this morning...MUCH bigger music news than the return of the incredibly overrated Magnum!!

Posted by Anon | November 11, 2011 11:39 AM

Ya'll missed out when he played at the Loews. Don't hate. LoL

Posted by Anonymous | November 11, 2011 11:39 AM

@ 11:39, you missed out when I saw him in September in Northampton. Don't hate.

Posted by Anonymous | November 11, 2011 11:42 AM

Saw him in Jersey, that was enough. Call me when he gets the boys back together

Posted by Anonymous | November 11, 2011 11:42 AM

@Anon, who cares?

Posted by Anonymous | November 11, 2011 11:43 AM

HOLY SHIT JUST GOT TICKETS

Posted by Anonymous | November 11, 2011 11:44 AM

I saw the BAM tweet about the second show and scored front row tickets!

Posted by Anonymous | November 11, 2011 11:46 AM

@1146 what section/row were your tix?

Posted by Anonymous | November 11, 2011 11:53 AM

@1153 mezz center row N . i'm just happy to see him play for the first time.

Posted by Anonymous | November 11, 2011 11:55 AM

I hope he switches up the setlist. Town Hall and Loew's shows were magical (I personally thought Saturday night at Loew's was the best of the three), but I wouldn't mind hearing something a bit different. Yes, I'm obsessed which is why I went to all three shows.

Posted by Anonymous | November 11, 2011 11:56 AM

@1155 so front row tickets = mezzanine center row N?

Posted by Anonymous | November 11, 2011 11:56 AM

@11:53, I got Orchestra Left Center row AA

Posted by Anonymous | November 11, 2011 11:57 AM

11:44 got confused and thought he was 11:46, obv

Posted by Anonymous | November 11, 2011 11:59 AM

Has he written a song in the past 10 years?

Posted by Anonymous | November 11, 2011 11:59 AM

@11:59, have you ever written a song?

Posted by Anonymous | November 11, 2011 12:03 PM

Remember that time Weezer went away for six years and we were all excited when they were playing shows again in 2000? That really worked out well for us.

Posted by Anonymous | November 11, 2011 12:06 PM

@1157 and @1203 you are a fucking baller. no sarcasm, real talk. hope you have an incredible time at the show.

Posted by Anonymous | November 11, 2011 12:07 PM

He needs to get it over with and do an interview. I want to know where he has been and why he picked now to come back. I want answers, Mr. Mangum.

Posted by Anonymous | November 11, 2011 12:09 PM

@1206 ya i remember that. except it was three years, not six (they released/toured pinkerton in 96/97). and they returned with the green album when they came off hiatus in 2000. so it did kind of work out well.

i can't speak for anything after 2001 though.

Posted by Anonymous | November 11, 2011 12:20 PM

scalpers win. was at Town Hall show and there were at least 6 empty seats w/n first 4 rows - just near me

Posted by Anonymous | November 11, 2011 12:21 PM

I don't see how the Green Album can be viewed as anything other than a disappointment.

Posted by Anonymous | November 11, 2011 12:24 PM

I thought the Green Album was good. Not as good as the Blue or Pinkerton albums.

Posted by Anonymous | November 11, 2011 12:25 PM

I agree with 12:25.

Posted by Anonymous | November 11, 2011 12:30 PM

The Green Album was a disappointment compared to "Summer Songs 2K"

Posted by Anonymous | November 11, 2011 12:36 PM

scalpers win. was at Town Hall show and there were at least 6 empty seats w/n first 4 rows - just near me

.. you mean the night of the freak snowstorm in NYC ? sure there were a few no shows " I know a few people who couldn't go.

BAM tickets are will call only..

Posted by Anonymous | November 11, 2011 12:37 PM

Maladroit > Green Album

Posted by Anonymous | November 11, 2011 12:38 PM

"BAM tickets are will call only.."

But tickets can be picked up at 5 p.m. day of show. There will still be a physical product to scalp outside the venue.

Mango 2012

Posted by Anonymous | November 11, 2011 1:08 PM

Summer Songs 2K got me very excited when I heard them at Irving & Stone Pony. Incredible shows. It's a shame what happened to that band though.

ENOUGH WITH ALL THE FUCKING JEFF MANGUMMY BEARS NEWS FOR FUCK'S SAKE. WE GET IT!!!

Posted by Anonymous | November 11, 2011 1:24 PM

mad kow.

*jacuzzi*boys* will shoot some MAN CUM in your face

Posted by Anonymous | November 11, 2011 1:41 PM

Speaking of "Jeff Mangummy Bears," has anyone seen the recent news about Boozy Bears? Apparently, people are taking gummy bears (or any other gummy product) and soaking them in vodka.

I've gotta try some boozy bears.

Posted by Dan | November 11, 2011 1:49 PM

Boozy Bears are for high schoolers.

Posted by Anonymous | November 11, 2011 1:56 PM

the black sabbath clock has finished counting down, but no news!
this 9-9-9 keeps getting weirder

Posted by Anonymous | November 11, 2011 2:04 PM

I really, really hope 1:49 is being sarcastic. Did you just hear about Four Loko last week? Are you going planking this weekend? Did you just find out that you can save more on car insurance by switching to GEICO?

Posted by Anonymous | November 11, 2011 2:18 PM

Why is the concept of soaking gummy bears in alcohol breaking news? People have literally been doing this for decades. Has the Associated Press never been to college?

Posted by Anonymous | November 11, 2011 2:22 PM

how is the front row of the balcony for a view at BAM?

Posted by kunt | November 11, 2011 2:43 PM

I love how all over the place this thread is. Did you guys see that Rick Perry gaffe??

Posted by Anonymous | November 11, 2011 2:52 PM

"how is the front row of the balcony for a view at BAM?"

Better than any seat in the orchestra. the view, the sound... FLAWLESS. Good get!

Posted by Anonymous | November 11, 2011 2:53 PM

@2:53 really? i'll sell my orchestra center right row BB tickets then and try to score some balcony seats.

Posted by Anonymous | November 11, 2011 3:01 PM

Hahahahahaha 2:53, c'mon guy. C'mon. Front row balcony at BAM is pretty great, but to say they're "better than any orchestra seat" is foolish.

C'mon.

Posted by Dave L | November 11, 2011 3:09 PM

im psyched...row A balcony.
sound may not be as good as orchestra...but the view overhead must be nice.

Posted by kunt | November 11, 2011 4:46 PM

wasn't able to get tickets again :(

Posted by Anonymous | November 11, 2011 6:59 PM

are black people allowed to come?

Posted by kunt | November 12, 2011 3:20 AM

Meh, i'd rather be brunching

Posted by Anonymous | November 12, 2011 8:11 AM

That Heavens we are living in a post-LCD world.

Posted by Anonymous | November 12, 2011 8:43 AM

I don't get this Jeff Mangum mania. He put out a pretty good record in 1998 that's inexplicably grown into a classic in his absence. Now he's playing those same old songs without his band, and it's the hottest thing in NYC?

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy that he's replenishing his savings by fleecing you Brooklyn assholes, but I can't believe that this is the hottest thing going.
