Jessica Lea Mayfield

Jessica Lea Mayfield, who is opening for Ryan Adams at Carnegie Hall on 12/6, toured through NYC earlier this month when she hit Glasslands on 11/17 with local Daniel Wayne and Ri¢hie...

"This was the most packed I've seen Glasslands on a Thursday in ages, and it's not hard to see why. Mayfield's latest record, the Dan Auerbach-produced Tell Me, moves Mayfield beyond her neo-country confines and continues her tradition of strong songwriting - see for example "Run Myself Into the Ground", which maintains a hint of twang but backs it with some solidly rock guitar work. That came courtesy of Nashville's Richie Kirkpatrick, whose band Ri¢hie has also served as Mayfield's rhythm section at several recent shows. This was my first introduction to Jessica live, and I was extremely pleased with both the show and the crowd. The only thing that could have made the night better would have been her performing her new cover of Nirvana's "Lounge Act"!" [NYC Taper]
NYC Taper has a recording of the show. We have some pictures, and they continue below...

Jessica is really cute. Ri¢hie though ... haha, get it? The cent symbol is used as a 'c' 'cause his name is Richie. Funny! Aww man. Sheeeeit. I bet those Billyburger eatin' fools lost their mind when that dude hit the stage. Priceless.

Andrako rules the earth. That last picture of Richie is so ridiculously good.

what is hanging above the stage?... looks like tissue paper flowers... is that always at Glasslands, or just for this show... it looks HIGHLY FLAMMABLE!!.. doesn't anyone remember the Whitesnake fire?

That thing floating over the stage is hubris.

But wait - is dude in the third or fourth photo from the top wearing a digital watch?

Okay. Time to throw somebody into the East River.

Great show from start to finish. Daniel Wayne got some pipes like a motherfucker. Richie rocked, and Jessica went down like great wine.

I used to think that she was poke-able, but after checking out these pics I've totally list my wood.

Daniel Wayne has been showing up on all these bills across NYC and Brooklyn, and you never know what he is going to bring to the show... I've seen him as solo, duo, trio and quartet, and every show is something different, and always great. Just because Pitchfork doesn't give it the time of day doesn't mean it isn't worth listening to... be truly ironic, like something intentionally, with passion, because YOU like it, don't listen to others.

I liked her presentation

super talented girl. instead of hanging around drink beers and go to the shows like all hipster do, she's actually a good songwriter.

Wasn't sure what to expect - tagged along w/ a friend. Not one to usually write posts - had to say that Daniel Wayne left quite the impression. His voice cut through the room - actually left it silent. Pretty cool bluesy sound and his lyrics were soulful. Definitely worth checking out again.

Maybe someone needs to tell her to take some vocal lessons... can't she hear how tone deaf she is?? Ughhhh
She cannot sing nor carry a note.

It drives me up the walls!
