Liam FInn at Occupy Wall St. Veterans Day Rally (via Saint Huck)
Liam FInn

Liam Finn will kick off a residency at The Rock Shop on January 9 which will continue every Monday for the month of January. Tickets for each individual show or one ticket to get into all of them are on sale now. Each show will have a different special guest TBA. Liam recently spoke to NBC about the residency:

"Now that I am based in NY, I thought there was no better way to introduce myself formally and informally to the city than to host a series of shows that could incorporate the different facets of what I do," he said. "The Rock Shop just seemed like the perfect place, perfect size and has a nice community vibe already."

"At this point I have a lot of different fantasies lined up in my head of what could happen," he said. "I have friends I have invited to be a part of the shows and a lot will be left up to the day to figure exactly how things will run... but I will be playing half the show with my whole loop set up to attempt songs I haven't tried as a one man band as well as trusty favorites."

"I also will perform some of the show with my band I have been touring with all year and would love to also involve whoever's lurking around -- openers, drunks, friends and family -- in bringing a unique show each week to a cold Monday."

Liam, who also recently took part in the Rock Lottery at Knitting Factory (he was put in a band with Greg Saunier of Deerhoof, Kotaro Tsukada of Peelander-z, and Arone Dyer of Buke & Gass), is also one of the musicians who performed at the Occupy Wall St. Veterans Day Rally at Foley Square (11/11). You can check out two short clips from his set along with all dates below...

if you haven't heard of Liam Finn, that's why you're not getting laid these days.

Posted by Anonymous | November 28, 2011 4:42 PM

Actually, Liam's success and talent have very little to do with his father (aside from genes, perhaps).

Anonymous 3:08...it's like the opposite of you and your father when it comes time to pay rent on your Williamsburg apartment.

LOL what's your excuse 4:42? Is showering too much work for you, or is it the Tourette's that makes the women run away screaming from you?

Posted by Anonymous | November 28, 2011 5:04 PM

Anonymous 4:59 I think you meant to hit the Twin Sister thread. That's more your hipster speed - all "style", no substance. Like you.

At least Bob Marley bathed. You can let your shit grow or you can skip bathing, but you can't do both. That's just wrong.

It's pretty obvious who the anti-OWS trolls are here and who the critical thinkers are. Liam, we respect you for visiting OWS and wish great things for your career. We also respect your epic beard.

Liam's one of the hardest working dudes in rock. Difficult to understand how extraordinary talent and hustle can be confused with gimmick.

Posted by Anonymous | November 28, 2011 9:21 PM

if the son (from Australia)of the dude(also from Australia)from Crowded House perceives economic inequality in America, then OBVIOUSLY something is very wrong! #OWS

Occupy is still going on? Are there like 5 morons left? That was an effective movement.

Liam is god! Rolling stone artist to watch a few years ago and Eddie Vedder seems to be a fan. Go watch lead balloon on YouTube. I hope some troll comes to your work and rubbishes you.

Totally agree with this comment:

"Liam's one of the hardest working dudes in rock. Difficult to understand how extraordinary talent and hustle can be confused with gimmick."

Did y'all negative commenters ever see Liam perform? Probably not 'cause if you did you'd be standing there, mouth gaping wide open in awe of what you're witnessing- a combination of amazing talent, awe-inspiring energy, and a fresh brand of humor and intelligence that New Zealander's seem to possess. Get on the wave b/c NZ music's coming in like a tsunami! Liam's musical accomplishments are extraordinary! Yeah, he's very fortunate to come from a family of extraordinary musical legacy but the kid's making the most of his blessings and talents. Liam, here's to continued success and more great music from you in the future.

He's fucking great. Solid band, great songs, insanely rockin'. He's got his Beatlesy thing that he shares with his dad, but he kicks out the jams, too. Shut up, fools.
