Mayhem @ Gramercy Theater
Mayhem

Believe it or not, Mayhem actually did play (and didn't cancel) the "pre-game" for the Metal Suckfest at Gramercy Theater on 11/3. They hit the NYC venue with tourmates Woe, Keep of Kalessin, Abigail Williams, & Hate as part of their string of dates together. No word on if Necrobutcher's recent exorcism affected his on-stage ability, but judging from the below video of "Deathcrush", I doubt it.

That same night, across town, a member of Mayhem (Rune Eriksen) was providing an original recorded soundtrack to artwork at Saint Vitus as part of "Of Stardust", a exhibition/concert at the venue. How was that?

Pictures & video from Mayhem @ Gramercy are in this post (the actual Metal Suckfest pics coming soon!). They continue, setlist included, below...

were Mayhem threatening to cancel? I don't understand the text. Show was fun but the whole production was a bit more minimal than I expected from them.

I think that's the first time I've seen a curfew listed on the Gramercy set page there.

This show looks like it was thrilling. Wish I could've been there.

Mayhem in 2011 is a joke, sorry.

Posted by Anonymous | November 8, 2011 3:16 PM

Still waiting for the best comment on that first pic.

Posted by Anonymous | November 8, 2011 3:17 PM

Haven't Mayhem cancelled a shit ton of shows in the past few years? Probably what the article was referring to.

you could cut the self-loathing with a knife at this show

Posted by Anonymous | November 8, 2011 3:48 PM

3:24 you're thinking of WASP.

Posted by Anonymous | November 8, 2011 3:54 PM

3:48: On the contrary, most people at shows like these are pretty happy with themselves. You're probably thinking of those Wavves/Yo La Tengo/The Drums shows.

The dude to the left of Attila in the group portrait shots is artist Banks Violette. His work has been displayed at MoMA, Guggenheim and The Whitney amongst others. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Banks_Violette

This band that dresses like this well after Halloween are probably the same people that leave their Xmas lights up well into January.
