Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds

"As Oasis' guitarist and chief songwriter, he spent a decade at the helm of Britain's biggest band. Last month, he celebrated his solo album debuting at No. 1 on the UK charts. Brother Liam's new band, Beady Eye, only managed No. 3.

But Noel Gallagher -- whose band High Flying Birds [is on tour now] -- isn't strutting.

"The only thing I was certain of with this album was that (mellow tune) 'The Death of You and Me' be the first single," he said from London. "I just thought now wasn't the time for grandstanding. I thought it was time to be a little more cool and calm."

You could read between the lines and guess there will be no Oasis reunion. Fans have buzzed about the band touring for the 20th anniversary of 1995 blockbuster "(What's the Story) Morning Glory?"

Gallagher told me it won't happen. [Boston Herald]

Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds began their two night run at the Beacon Theatre last night (11/14) and conclude their visit to NYC with a show TONIGHT (11/15). Tickets are still available. Though Gallagher has launched this new band with a new album, he wasn't afraid to dip his toes into classic Oasis material like "Wonderwall" and "Supersonic". The full setlist is below, under the rest of the pictures and two videos from the Monday night show.

Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds have announced another set of East Coast dates for March 2012, though none in NYC (yet?). The updated tour schedule, video, setlist and more pictures are below...

Great show. This band shits all over Beady Eye.

Posted by Anonymous | November 15, 2011 4:05 PM

Songs are great and Noel sounds great but, damn, is he ever lifeless on stage.

Posted by Anonymous | November 15, 2011 4:07 PM

Great show! New songs are great live and the Oasis songs are still magical. I loved the acoustic Supersonic and the rocking Talk Tonight.

Posted by Loop | November 15, 2011 4:07 PM

wankers. wait, is that a good or bad word?

Posted by Jojo (!) | November 15, 2011 4:09 PM

Sounds like Dido.

Posted by Anonymous | November 15, 2011 4:10 PM

Yup, great gig. Sounded great. Noel vibed it. Deep middle aged male crowd. Loved it.

Posted by Anonymous | November 15, 2011 4:12 PM

Great show, its obvious which is the more talented of the Gallagher Bros. On a side note, loved all the horrible British haircuts in the audience.

Posted by Anonymous | November 15, 2011 4:14 PM

4:14- YES.

Laughed so hard at some of the ridiculous haircuts I saw.

Posted by Anonymous | November 15, 2011 4:16 PM

He looks really sad. Kinda like all the lil' feeding-off-parents-Billyburger-eatin'-kids who got kicked out of their downtown NYC playground today. Awww. Time to grow up, pups.

I thought Liam was the one who sang Don't Look Back in Anger/Wonderwall/Supersonic/Idle? Strange Noel didn't pick the songs where he's on vocals.

Posted by Anonymous | November 15, 2011 4:26 PM

Are the haircuts worse than the teeth?

NOEL GALLAGHER'S HIGH FLYING TURDS

Posted by Anonymous | November 15, 2011 4:30 PM

Noel sings DLBIA and Idle on record, but he's sung all of them before since he wrote them.

Posted by Anonymous | November 15, 2011 4:32 PM

Don't look Back and Idle were originally sung by Noel

Wonderwall and Supersonic by Liam

Posted by Anonymous | November 15, 2011 4:33 PM

What time did Noel come on stage at?

Posted by jables | November 15, 2011 4:39 PM

9pm exactly

Posted by Jg | November 15, 2011 4:44 PM

9pm exactly

Posted by Jg | November 15, 2011 4:45 PM

9pm sharp!

Posted by Anonymous | November 15, 2011 4:45 PM

9pm pronto!

Posted by Anonymous | November 15, 2011 4:47 PM

Need to add some more definition to the photos. Yikes.

Posted by Anonymous | November 15, 2011 4:49 PM

4:14/4:16,

I usually feel less self conscious at shows by British artists in NYC because I can rest assured I am not the most pale nor will I have the worst teeth at the show.

Posted by Anonymous | November 15, 2011 4:51 PM

I like this guy, he hates radiohead as much as I do.

Posted by Anonymous | November 15, 2011 5:45 PM

^ its called jalousy, bro.

Posted by Anonymous | November 15, 2011 5:59 PM

*jealousy.

Posted by Anonymous | November 15, 2011 6:00 PM

5:45 Yeah he called them "students". Lulz, Noel is cool.

Posted by Anonymous | November 15, 2011 6:13 PM

Noel's definitely the better songwriter but his songs (even the new ones) pretty much beg for Liam's vocals. And Beady Eye has that familar Liam voice but the songs suck. Too bad they couldn't just work it out with Oasis.

Posted by Anonymous | November 15, 2011 7:25 PM

@5:45

Except he doesn't hate Radiohead, as he said recently in an interview.

Posted by Anonymous | November 15, 2011 8:02 PM

If the damn show wasn't show expensive, I would have gone too.

Posted by Anonymous | November 15, 2011 8:07 PM

If he doesn't hate radiohead he's an idiot.

Posted by Anonymous | November 15, 2011 8:12 PM

I see your articles about Noel Gallagher are always wrong or lack of info.
"Noel wasn't afraid to dip his toes into classic Oasis material"... Liam just COULDN'T use his songs. It's still playing Oasis songs that is being afraid (of being unsuccessful with new songs), not moving on as Beady Eye did.
In fact, Noel receveid 20 negative reviews from music magazines, Beady Eye didn't.
"Noel No. 1 on the UK charts. Brother Liam's new band, Beady Eye, only managed No. 3."
Didn't you ask yourself why "only"? Beady Eye had Adele just released, Noel had Matt Cradle (who?). Noel reached the 2nd position in the world chart (with Adeele 1st, who released the album in January!), Beady Eye the FIRST one, 'cause they were 1st in South America and Japan, and their album went gold. Besides, their vinyl album was 2nd in the first 6 months, and it's still 3rd.

I love Noel and he is so much fun live! He's charming and witty and his voice is creamy even if he does have to scream over the crowd! It's a damn good time going to his concert. I will be in Switzerland to see him again! I love it!

Posted by Polly | November 15, 2011 9:07 PM

8:56pm is Liam Gallagher or maybe Gem Archer.

Posted by Anonymous | November 15, 2011 9:16 PM

Whiny douche sues whiny douche.

Posted by Anonymous | November 15, 2011 9:17 PM

LOL @ 9:16p... Gem is still friendly with Noel.

That said, NGHFB's presale outsold the Beady Eye presale 252%.

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2011 1:45 PM

Wonderful show, and beautiful pictures! I saw myself in some of them and it took me right back. Thanks so much for sharing!

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2011 1:50 PM

Took you right back to two nights ago?

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2011 4:24 PM

Show was just ok on Tuesday. Main set was 1:10 long, or short, and three song encore...sorry that's weak.

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2011 8:08 PM
