The Black Angels

"We got our name from the Velvet Underground song "The Black Angels Death Song." As far as touring with bands with "black" in their names- The Black Keys and Black Rebel Motercycle Club being the two off the top of my head, it was really amazing to be able to tour with those bands. We'd always been big fans of them and when the opportunity presented itself to tour with these bands for the first time, I was like "wow, awesome." Obviously with Black Mountain as well. It wasn't until our first tour was booked that I'm like "man, we keep playing with these Black bands."" - Alex Maas
No black tourmates this time around, but the The Black Angels did have a nice mix of openers over the course of their 3-day Halloween run at Music Hall of Williamsburg which came to end on Monday night (10/31). We have pictures from the second show (10/30), which was with Spindrift and Dead Meadow (other Brooklyn show openers included Exit Music, Golden Animals and Psychic Ills). Spindrift dressed up that night, but the headliners saved their costumes for Halloween.

Stupid photo gallery layout.
Load all the images at once and make me scroll for ages to read the comments . You fail at web programming BV.

What are you talking about 8:11, having all the pics on one page and being able to scroll through them without clicking a bunch of times is one of the best parts of looking at photos on BV.

these guys are terribly boring live. saw them earlier this year and the whole show was just one long muddy mess. everything blended together and it didn't sound like anything.

also spent the first 1/3 of the show thinking the drummer was a good-looking dude on lend from a hair metal cover band.

They are a little on the boring side live. I blame that less on them than on myself since I saw them sober and I don't smoke weed anymore. They're more atmospheric than a band that's gonna make a room shake.

Dead Meadow and Spindrift rocked the show. Black angels were a bore.

Anyone have the actual setlist from night 2? I know that the last pic's setlist wasn't what they played on 10/30 (telephone and the sniper were missing to name some), and I can't seem to find it anywhere online. It'd be greatly appreciated!
