Ooh my, Fishbone.

the counting room is a waste of money. go to gutter.

A sturdy fish bone can serve as a wonderful substitute for pita triangles in a pinch. It's truly an ital vehicle for delivering hummus to your mouth.

FISHBONE:

yet another band that wasn't even popular on an indie level in their "prime" (in fact, they were the epitome of major label poseurs)... yet now have "returned"/"reunited" and people buy into it.

they sucked and had not even one worthwhile tune.

The book said "Truth And Soul" was the one to get, so we did...It really worked out...

Moldy Peaches are playing at Knitting Factory tonight.
Kimya is playing solo, and Berth Control has 2 ex-peaches in the band.
Also, i saw them all enter a rehearsal studio in w'burg.
Go early!

3:16, unless you're trying to post something idiotic and patently false for the sake of (bad) humor, you are so out of touch with reality it's astonishing.

if you're serious, you know absolutely nothing about fishbone and are either too young or too stupid to try to convince otherwise.

oh yeah, have a great day!

Posted by Anonymous | November 13, 2011 4:38 PM

It's ok. 3:16 was just intentionally aiming for the obligatory trendy loser comment that seems to be the routine on Sundays. And, oh yeah...

FISHBONE IS RED HOT!!!

Posted by Anonymous | November 13, 2011 4:44 PM

the publicity team behind Fishbone speaks!

Posted by Anonymous | November 13, 2011 4:48 PM

it's all anybody's talking about!

all my friends are like, did you hear FISHBONE is coming??

did you get those FISHBONE tickets yet?

FIIIIISHBOOOOOONE!!!!

I doubt that Fishbone - or any other shows tonight - will be nearly as fun as watching Occupy Portland get 99% flattened.

Posted by Anonymous | November 13, 2011 5:21 PM

as a vegan i boycott any band with the name fish in it

Posted by Anonymous | November 13, 2011 6:31 PM

does anyone else think that the quality of bands playing nyc lately is really low?

Posted by Anonymous | November 13, 2011 8:15 PM

^ the quality of bands playing in NYC is always lightyears ahead of any other city. Why don't you move down to Philly or better yet las Vegas and mail me a telegram with your findings.

Posted by Anonymous | November 13, 2011 8:44 PM

^ I would also like to mention that NYC hummus is also "lightyears" ahead of every other major city in the continental united states. I've heard rumors about an ancient Lebanese recipe though that is popular in Portland. Can anyone confirm?

Posted by Anonymous | November 13, 2011 8:46 PM

^dude Rip City kepps it's hummus weird. You bros pay too much in rent to really aproach the various chickpea styles we got going on. Put it this way....Malkmus had to move to Berlin cuz he couldn't hang.

Posted by Anonymous | November 13, 2011 9:11 PM

Detroit hummus kicks NYC hummus's ass and then blows it up with a bomb vest.

Posted by Anonymous | November 13, 2011 9:12 PM

^Detroit has hummus now? I guess that makes sense. When rents are low, quality hummus follows. Can anyone give me a Baltimore hummus scene report?

Posted by Anonymous | November 13, 2011 9:29 PM

Baltimore hummus scene is hella lame. Sure, John Waters has a hummus factory in downtown, but there's no decent pita for miles. NYC has that rich, delecant hummus taste like the mashed chick peas my grandma used to make. She gone.

Posted by Anonymous | November 13, 2011 10:07 PM

The hummus down here in Baltimore ain't bad, sometimes it's a bit dry and salty, but it's definetely better then what they got in D.C.
(D.C. hummus is more like elmers glue with a dash of lemon)

Posted by Anonymous | November 13, 2011 10:08 PM

Thanks. The Brooklyn hummus scene is almost dead. I'm researching alternatives.

Posted by Anonymous | November 13, 2011 10:45 PM

Spin Red Hot LCD Doctors Peppers.

Posted by Anonymous | November 13, 2011 11:19 PM

Brooklyn hummus may have changed a bit as the years pass by, but I still think it's supurb.
Though I do sometimes yearn and reminisce about the sweet sweet hummus of 94.

Posted by Anonymous | November 13, 2011 11:26 PM

The problem with Brooklyn hummus these days is that the Occupy Wall Streeters/food prep monkeys are shaking off a lot of head lice into the batches. Never happened in days of yore when Brooklyn was on top of its hummus game.

Posted by Anonymous | November 13, 2011 11:34 PM

The Brooklyn hummus scene died when TV On The Radio made that Heineken commercial.

Posted by Anonymous | November 13, 2011 11:57 PM

how is the hummus in hoboken?

Posted by Anonymous | November 14, 2011 12:14 AM

does buffalo have hummus?

Posted by Anonymous | November 14, 2011 12:15 AM

Hoboken has a Mamoun's as well as other purveyors of the chickpea arts. I wouldn't cross the river for their hummus if I had to swim to get there, but it's worth a visit by mass transit or hot air balloon.

Posted by Anonymous | November 14, 2011 12:22 AM

Mamoun's started in new haven

Posted by Anonymous | November 14, 2011 12:27 AM

beach fossils played a surprise set @ oasis on north 7th..god damn that shit went off!!! cant wait for the new lp

Posted by Anonymous | November 14, 2011 12:51 AM

FORGET MAMOUNS, CHEEPS AROUND THE CORNER IS BETTER! EITHER WAY, DONT FORGET MEATLESS MONDAY IS TOMORROW!

Posted by frustrated with haters | November 14, 2011 12:56 AM

The hummus scene is blowing up in Austin, but they haven't perfected it yet. The chickpeas are numerous but something is up with their tahini.

Posted by Anonymous | November 14, 2011 12:58 AM

9:29, Of course Detroit has high-quality hummus! Dearborn is right nearby, and has one of the highest populations of Middle Eastern heritage in the country.
3:16, You're an asshat. Fishbone is the real deal.

Posted by Anonymous | November 14, 2011 7:21 AM

^Dr. Thick (Fishbone fan)

Posted by Anonymous | November 14, 2011 8:03 AM

I put the bone in the fish, baby

Posted by Anonymous | November 14, 2011 8:36 AM

"highest populations of Middle Eastern heritage"

posting live from OWS

OMG I hate political correctness. You little twats need to learn how to be normal.

Posted by Anonymous | November 14, 2011 8:37 AM

Is anyone else furious over the induction of "Gluten Free" hummus to the Sabra brand? That stuff tastes like White-Out. Now when choosing my hummus from the robust selection at the local market I am forced to sift through the entire stack to find one that doesn't have that diabolical red "Gluten Free" tag.

That shit is mom hummus, to be eaten with PRETZELS (and not pita) while listening to Kings of Leon.

Posted by Anonymous | November 14, 2011 8:45 AM

8:37 - How should I have phrased it to be "normal"?

Posted by Anonymous | November 14, 2011 9:21 AM

Gluten Free is not for me, but they know their customer base. Let's face it, hummus is a vital taste sensation among the swarthy folk who originated it, but is otherwise largely the province of the "Stuff white people like" set. They drive Priuses and don't let their sons play football like men. They also fear the Gluten.

This is bad for the mighty hummus in its quest for global phytonutrient dominance, but we shall overcome.

Posted by Anonymous | November 14, 2011 9:25 AM

3:16 - "not even popular on an indie level"....
You know not what you are talking about. Were you even alive in the '80's when Fishbone was around? If they were not popular, the thousands of people who packed in The Academy, the Paladium, The Ritz, CBGB's, weren't told. And on an indie level, their friends in the indie bands (Bad Brains, Minutemen, Black Flag) didn't seem to care that they were on a major label.
Great live band. If you missed them, you missed out.

Posted by Anonymous | November 14, 2011 9:31 AM

Fishbone was like a 3 on my Give-A-Fuck meter in the 80's, but I had lots of friends who loved them. Odd that they were all stoners who had decent if not exactly underground taste in music. UB40 was popular among them as well.

Posted by Anonymous | November 14, 2011 9:49 AM

HR came out last night, though I'm sure he was actually doing anything. That guy is fried, what a mess.

Anyway, show was fun, cool set with lots of old nuggets. Angelo is a mad man, I'd forgotten how much energy that dude has. My head hurts.

Posted by Anonymous | November 14, 2011 10:09 AM

^
oops, meant to say "not" sure. he was plugged in, but didn't look like he was playing anything, just fucking around and making weird facial gestures. strange.

Posted by Anonymous | November 14, 2011 10:10 AM

I don't know how you can listen to "U.G.L.Y." and say you don't like Fishbone, but okay!

Posted by Anonymous | November 14, 2011 10:11 AM

cholly make me feel good, cholly

Posted by Anonymous | November 14, 2011 10:28 AM

Posted by Anonymous | November 14, 2011 12:58 PM

3:16 you should hide behind your glasses.

Posted by Anonymous | November 14, 2011 1:12 PM

As was expected, Fishbone was indeed RED HOT the other day. Glad to not bump into any of you jive turkeys there.
