a new Julian Lynch track, EP & live show

Julian Lynch

Julian Lynch‘s impressive LP, Terra, which came out this past Spring, was filled with different sounds; gently reverby acoustic guitars, airy jazz sax, eastern percussion, and some bright keyboards, to name a few of them. But one thing it definitely didn’t have was abrasive sludge guitar. For anyone wishing it did, you’re in luck, because “Roads,” the first track Julian revealed off his “New EP” which, according to bandcamp, will be released on January 1 (update: we are told there is no set release date for this), is a head-nodding stoner sludgefest. There don’t seem to be anymore details about this, except for a post on his tumblr with a teaser video and the words “New album in 2012.” You can watch that video and stream the new track, “Roads,” below.

UPDATE: the new song has been removed from Julian’s bandcamp. Apparently it was accidentally posted early. Stay tuned for its reappearance (hopefully).

Julian has a NYC show coming up before the year ends, taking place at Glasslands on December 29 with Amy Klein and the Blue Star Band, SoftSpot, and Backwords. Tickets for this show are on sale now. It appears to be his only date scheduled at the moment.

You can also catch Amy Klein, who isn’t in Titus Andronicus anymore, in NYC this week, when she plays as a member of Hilly Eye at Shea Stadium on Friday (12/9) with Dan Friel, Headless Horseman, Doldrums, GDFX, and Dinowalrus.

Though Amy won’t be playing with them, Titus Andronicus will play Brooklyn Bazaar on December 17 with The Hold Steady, Wakey Wakey and W/O. Tickets are still available. The Hold Steady’s Craig Finn also just annonced another solo show.
