Cults at ATP NJ (more by Dana (distortion) Yavin)
Cults

I was in a restaurant over the weekend that was playing some modern rock radio station as we ate. And after hearing Green Day, Muse, and Angels and Airwaves, "Go Outside" by Cults came on. I knew they'd gotten a lot bigger, but it definitely was still pretty weird. Anyway, they're still probably the only band on that list who plays venues like Webster Hall, which they'll do on January 19. Tickets for that show are still on sale.

When we first announced the show, it was one of a few other 2012 dates. They've since added way more dates for next year, stretching all the way through the end of April. The new dates include another NYC-area show happening on March 2 at Maxwell's in Hoboken, NJ. Tickets for this show go on sale Wednesday (12/14) at noon.

One of the dates on the tour is with of Montreal, who just announced a new tour, Webster Hall dates and an album.

Yeah, really weird that a modern rock station would play a song by a poppy act signed to Columbia Records. Moron....

Haven't they been on the radio for a while now? Why is this surprising?

Hey, give him credit for actually thinking (slightly) rather than just cutting and pasting a press release in exchange for guest list passes.

There is really nothing cult-ish about writing songs for iPod/ Target commercials and then signing to a major label. Ohhh, I get it....hipster irony.

just listened to their big track for the first time.. don't really see what all the hype is about. sounds like a pop animal collective knock-off with a female singer. usually with these mainstream 'indie' hits it's easy to see why (see mgmt) but this doesn't really click for me.

abducted was really good. thats ab it.

It annoys me that there is a band named "Cults" when there is already a much more superior band named "The Cult". I'm going to name my next band "Cures" or "Whos".

I read on this very site that Green Day recently played Webster Hall. What type of venues do Angels and Airwaves play?
