Deer Tick @ SXSW 2011 (more by Dominick Mastrangelo)
Deer Tick

Another NYC New Year's Eve option: Deer Tick, J. Roddy Walston and the Business, Dead Confederate, and Virgin Forest are taking over Brooklyn Bowl on December 31, 2011. $45 tickets are on sale now for what is sure to be a very drunken welcome to 2012. For $15 more you can also get a ticket to see Lucero who plays one night earlier at the same venue.

Meanwhile, as previously mentioned, Virgin Forest and Deer Tick's Ian O'Neil play a show at Glasslands this Wednesday night (12/7). Deer Tick only have one other show scheduled and it's in Albany.

Deer Tick also just released a new video for "Main Street" today, full of explosions and urination (which you won't find in the censored version). You can watch it in all its uncensored glory below.

Diamond Rugs, the Deer Tick related project that John McCauley also sings for, and which contains a member of Los Lobos (who are also playing New Year's Eve in NYC), released their first track today too - the Christmas song that maybe you heard Deer Tick perform live at Death By Audio. Download that above. Stream it below...

You fucking idiot lemmings, Pitchfork slams Deer Tick and now you don't like them.
Still one of the best bands around.

^^^ FULLY AGREE

Posted by Anonymous | December 5, 2011 6:03 PM

clearly they've gain more fans in the past five years than they've lost, and the ones they've lost spend their happy hour commenting on brooklyn vegan - i call that a win-win, no?

Posted by Anonymous | December 5, 2011 6:28 PM

gained* seeing that there are more grammar nazis here than astute music fans.

Posted by Anonymous | December 5, 2011 7:54 PM

one of the fun-nest live bands out there, period. The pitchfork review was pretentious and lame, hail deer tick, middle brother, diamond rugs, or any other project these guys get involved in. Keep it up!

Everyone who is dissing Deer Tick is fucking STUPID! I've seen videos of John Mccauely dressed as a school girl walking drunkenly around the crowd singing "All You Need Is Love".. these guys didn't just destroy the set and piss in their music video to look cool.. they were just having a good time. These guys are nuts. They are awesome live performers (seriously - best show I've ever been to), real musicians, and have real talent. I'd prefer to listen to these guys over A LOT of artists who are either taken over by the techno/club sound or slowly allowed themselves to fall into pop-rock or indie bands who constantly reproduce the same sound over and over again making their lyrics as lucrative and nonsensical as possible in order to gain a fan base. I mean anyone who hates Deer Tick... go for it... because I assure you this group doesn't give a FUCKKKKK. Justttt the way I (and the rest of the quickly growing and very passionate fan base) like them.

I agree with Anonymous (12/9/11, 1:50pm). The rest of you bitches probably listen to Ben Kweller or Grouplove or some indie rock pussy shit made by pathetic turds (and their girlfriends who learned the ukelele or the xylophone and sing harmonies with them in their pathetic little inspiration of a band)... You probably cling desperately to Beirut records and extol the virtues of "gypsy" music but never listened to Django... Pitchfork plagiarists without any opinion of your own... Because you have never Listened to music - to you it is the background noise you pair to your mood. Fuck you.

And for the record, I am not a member of this band.

Deer Tick is best band ever & all those who think otherwise are just stupid or confused

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2011 9:02 PM

332- awesome statement (but please stay away from Kweller).

And yes, where is the open bar BK bowl?!
