Fred Armisen

Fred Armisen, who will be out on tour with Carrie Brownstein in January, has been making other promotional appearances lately including one in the NBC Store yesterday (12/4, one day after he was hanging with the Black Keys) and one during lunch, an autograph signing, at J&R today (12/5). On Sunday, 12/11, Fred will be at Other Music with his playlist, or something like that... Just check out the description below...

Other Music says:

FRED ARMISEN'S PLAYLIST, LIVE AT OTHER MUSIC
Honestly, we don't know quite what to expect from this one, but whatever it is, you can bet it will be a ton of fun. We received a somewhat mysterious request the other day to host an in-store performance next weekend by the great comedian, musician, actor and longtime Saturday Night Live cast member Fred Armisen, for an event billed simply as "Fred Armisen's Playlist, LIVE!" We know Fred will be performing songs from perennial favorites including the Clash, Devo, the Stranglers, the Damned and Husker Du, and truly, that's all we know. If you want to know more (we do!), join us!

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 11 - 8PM
OTHER MUSIC: 15 E. 4th St., NYC

Horatio Sanz > Fred Armisen

Posted by Anonymous | December 5, 2011 11:09 PM

Cmon guys. Dont be so mean. Fred seems like a decent fellow. He seems like the type that would certainly share his hummus with you when you entered his north Williamsburg loft space.

Modern Weepers Reunion Show!!!

Posted by Anonymous | December 5, 2011 11:49 PM

Hmmmm. If I had the choice of being Fred Armisen for a day or a miserable, spiteful, shit eating BV commenter for life I wonder what I'd choose.

Posted by Anonymous | December 5, 2011 11:54 PM

this dude needs to go do something else

Posted by Anonymous | December 6, 2011 12:14 AM

^ I'd definitely choose to be the commentor. Way more comedic value. Now where are my pita triangles?

Posted by Anonymous | December 6, 2011 12:14 AM

Posted by Anonymous | December 6, 2011 12:23 AM

Posted by Anonymous | December 6, 2011 12:50 AM

How white do you have to be to think Fred Armisen is funny?

Posted by Anonymous | December 6, 2011 12:55 AM

that snarky headline must be from BBG, the guy who took pictures for some hardcore band's 7 inches. he likes their 7 inches

Posted by Anonymous | December 6, 2011 7:26 AM

bv is the worst gathering of shit heads on the Internet

Posted by Anonymous | December 6, 2011 8:20 AM

Horatio Sanz has done "Boat Trip," which is better than any of the shit Armisen has been peddling.

Posted by Anonymous | December 6, 2011 8:56 AM

lol 12:55 fred armisen race humor lol

Posted by Anonymous | December 6, 2011 9:05 AM

Fred is a great guy. He's living proof that you can make it in the music business even if you don't become a uber mega-star. - Arthur

i saw his performance on sunday and it was actually pretty good. not to mention he's hilarious. portlandia rocks!

Posted by sara | December 6, 2011 9:28 AM

12:40 is a textbook example of hipster troll logic. It goes something like this ... if you disagree with my opinion about anything, I require of you a greater breadth of knowledge and experience than that said hipster darling in order to give your opinion any credibility (although I am never expected to have the same breadth of knowledge and experience to prove the credibility of my own opinion).

Silly hipsters, logic is for adults!

Posted by Anonymous | December 6, 2011 10:14 AM

Armisen isn't funny. I'm sure he's a nice guy, but he isn't funny. I mean Jens Hannemann? pass....

Posted by Anonymous | December 6, 2011 10:21 AM

Portlandia is hilarious. If you don't think it's funny, you are probably a moron and who cares what you think.

Posted by Anonymous | December 6, 2011 10:24 AM

9:33 really nailed it

Posted by Anonymous | December 6, 2011 10:40 AM

Portlandia is exactly what all sketch comedy is - hit or miss.

Posted by Anonymous | December 6, 2011 11:23 AM

Does he do Larry King at these shows? How about that Usama joint? OK, he's got to do Prince, right?

Posted by Anonymous | December 6, 2011 11:32 AM

Not worse than Garofalo, but not good either.

Posted by Anonymous | December 6, 2011 11:46 AM

10:14 what color is your belt? STFU

Posted by Anonymous | December 6, 2011 11:49 AM

DOODY!!!

Posted by Anonymous | December 6, 2011 12:07 PM

Oh, looks like 10:14 hit the mark on SOMEONE.

Hey 11:49, you feel the sting, of the ZING!!!

Posted by Anonymous | December 6, 2011 12:20 PM

^ I don't think 10:14 could pass a remedial English class.

Posted by Anonymous | December 6, 2011 12:25 PM

Silly hipsters, logic is for adults!

Posted by Anonymous | December 6, 2011 12:31 PM

^using 'hipster' on BV. Perfect Portlandia fan :(

Can't believe this douche used to bang Sally Timms.

Posted by Smack | December 6, 2011 3:12 PM

talentless douche who thinks he's important

Posted by Anonymous | December 6, 2011 5:25 PM

People making of a comedic genius. I live in Manhattan, and wish Portland was across the East River from me, NOT Williamsburg. And you hipsters (from BK, Chicago, Iowa, wherever you hicks grew up) have nothing on PDX. Great city, cool people, and they are so much more hip than other poseurs.

Posted by Anonymous | December 6, 2011 6:00 PM

I bet he smells like moth balls

Posted by Anonymous | December 6, 2011 6:28 PM

5:25

Did you type that while you were looking at a photo of yourself?

Posted by Anonymous | December 6, 2011 8:25 PM

6:28 thinks Armisen is a "comedic genius"? WTF? Is Armisen big time enough to have a publicist? I mean it's fair game to debate whether he is funny or not, but I don't think anyone in the world really thinks he is a comic genius.

Posted by Anonymous | December 6, 2011 9:15 PM

Armisen is funny enough, but he ain't no Belushi / Murry / Gaffigan / Hedberg / Norton / Silverman / Barr / Rickels .... hell, he ain't even no Jason Alexander!

Posted by Anonymous | December 6, 2011 9:59 PM

Fred Armisen isn't even a nice guy - he's super nasty towards women he dates. uses and ditches.

Posted by anon | January 10, 2012 11:26 PM

Armisen is a dork and Portlandia ain't funny.

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2012 11:52 PM

One skit of Portlandia is funnier than any of you haters will ever be in your life time.

Posted by Yeah, I said it. | February 25, 2012 2:51 PM

I'm a year too late to post an opinion, but I'm going for it anyway. I can definitely say Portlandia is ahead of its time. More people will catch on. It has a great aspect of awkwardness, and it's super optimistic and silly. It's not cynical or dark like most forms of comedy these days. It's just really light, fun, exaggerated, and strangely relatable. I think Fred and Carrie are doing a fantastic job, it's right up my alley as far as the humor goes.

I suppose the idea of humor without a solid foundation of cynicism is probably too complex for some people to wrap their minds around. Portlandia is not for everyone.
