Gotye

Australia's Gotye is pretty big over in his home country due to his super catchy single, "Somebody That I Used to Know." The song is on his album, Making Mirrors, which came out in Australia this past August and is set for a US release on January 31 via Samples'n'Seconds/Fairfax Recordings/Universal Republic. I'm still not completely sold on the whole album, but I've spun "Somebody That I Used to Know" quite a few times. It's got a So-era Peter Gabriel feel to it, with xylophones and a duet with Kimbra that also make it pretty fitting for the Garden State soundtrack. Check out the video for the song below.

Gotye was in NYC for CMJ in October and is going on a North American tour in 2012 in support of the album. That hits NYC on February 6 at Bowery Ballroom and March 27 at Webster Hall. The Bowery Ballroom show is sold out but tickets are still available for the Webster Hall show.

"Fitting for the garden state soundtrack?" What does that even meancaVan we please stop pretending this movie was some sort of cultural zeitgeist? It came out like ten fucking years ago, for Christ sakes.
