Why isn't insurance taking car of this situation? Doesn't Oregon have some sort of no-fault policy?

Sometimes friends just like to help one another out regardless of the insurance situation.

I would imagine that the liability of the Cab's insurance company will be well beyond medical damages and will extend to loss of income and pain and suffering. They'll be ok in the long run, but I have to imagine his family is taking a hit right off the bat between travel and what have you.

"I would imagine that the liability of the Cab's insurance company will be well beyond medical damages"

I would imagine that a commercial company has pretty high limits on their policy, probably mandated by law.

"the most popular, prolific, and highest-earning rock and soul DJ on the North American nightclub circuit" as it says, may have way more money than all of us combined....not saying he should have to spend it all on bills from this horrific accident, but i am curious about radio cab insurance vs immediate request for donations from your average poor joe-scenester. does he need awesome hilarious cards, gifts & delights to brighten spirits, prayers and energy for speedy healing, or actual money?

I understand the desperate desire to do something for a friend in a situation this serious and unexpected. I'm sure his family will appreciate the donations, and probably even more, all the love and support. Any update on his condition?
