Metallica's longtime manager, Cliff Burnstein, is accelerating the band's tour plans to avoid getting sucked into Europe's debt troubles. With the gloom among investors spreading to richer countries such as France, Mr. Burnstein is worried that the euro will tank, making it harder for concert promoters in the 17 countries that use the currency to pay Metallica's fees.

Instead of playing Europe in 2013, as originally envisaged, Metallica will take a "European Summer Vacation" next year, including gigs at Germany's Rock Im Park and Rock Am Ring festivals in early June--where the top-grossing thrash band will play its chart-topping 1991 record known as "The Black Album" in its entirety--before heading to Britain and Austria.

"Look, I'm not an economist, but I have a degree, so it helps," Mr. Burnstein said one afternoon, sitting in the back room of his midtown Manhattan office in jeans and a red Economist magazine T-shirt with "Think Responsibly" printed on it. "You have to ask yourself, what's the best time to be doing what, when and where." -[Wall Street Journal]

In other news, Darren Aronofsky (The Wrestler, Requiem for a Dream, Black Swan, etc) made a video for "The View" from Metallica and Lou Reed's popular new album Lulu. Check that out with all dates below...

Really? Do they really need that much more money? I can see making sure that you aren't running a massive tour like that in debt, but come on, you can make it on a down Euro kids.
BTW, Fuck Metallica!!!

Posted by Anonymous | December 5, 2011 10:39 PM

Posted by Anonymous | December 5, 2011 10:39 PM

listneed to metallica recently on a road trip for the first time since high school basically (I'm 23). had the epiphany that lars is an awful drummer. there were a bunch of live tracks on the playlist and he couldnt even play in time consistently. these guys are such clowns. conceptually/intellectually they're still like high schoolers except they're really good at their instruments.

Posted by Anonymous | December 5, 2011 10:39 PM

But you have sucked all your life ^

Posted by Anonymous | December 5, 2011 10:40 PM

I hope Lars sues Facebook

Posted by Anonymous | December 5, 2011 10:41 PM

He's not a douche 10:39. He's hard working. He did the best detailing on my car I've seen in at least a year. He even cleaned the radiator front.

That Hetfield pic is fucking hilarious.
All I can think of is that scene in Some Kind Of Monster where Ulrich looses it and starts yelling in James' face "FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK". LOL that was so classic.

Posted by Anonymous | December 5, 2011 11:08 PM

Counting Aronofsky films without a mention of Pi ?

Posted by ME | December 5, 2011 11:44 PM

Fact: Lou Reed could care less about how this album does.

Fact: Metallica will need years of intensive therapy in order to navigate the wound on their ego

Posted by Anonymous | December 5, 2011 11:55 PM

Some Kind Of Assholes

They always get a pass, because their best work was so damn good, and because they still put on a great live show. But man, he looks like a tool.

Posted by Anonymous | December 6, 2011 8:05 AM

These guys are hilarious!

Posted by Anonymous | December 6, 2011 8:36 AM

Metallica is playing fine in these songs.LOU REED just flat out sucks and has no fucking talent.

Posted by Anonymous | December 6, 2011 11:12 AM

Reed hasn't been good since Berlin.

Posted by Anonymous | December 6, 2011 12:05 PM

I love how in that picture the new dude has to go shopping with Hetfield.

New bass dude: Let's take some bong hits and jam today.

Hetfield. No, we're going shopping. Big sale on board shorts at Armani.

New bass dude: OK.

Posted by Anonymous | December 6, 2011 1:30 PM

You're a fool 12:05. You post that same shit every Lou Reed thread, and you are so obviously wrong.

But not regarding Lulu. We can all agree that just plain blows dead donkey dicks

Posted by Anonymous | December 6, 2011 1:55 PM

Why is Donkey Show censored?

Posted by Anonymous | December 6, 2011 1:55 PM

Lou Reed is the type that would call the cops on you if he was your neighbor and you were having a party. And I'm sure you can all agree with that.

Posted by Anonymous | December 6, 2011 2:33 PM

"Metallica is playing fine in these songs.LOU REED just flat out sucks and has no fucking talent."

I agree. The problem with Lou is that he has no vocal range and Metallica pretty much only play in E flat. He normally sings out of key, but it is really noticeable in these songs.

Posted by Anonymous | December 6, 2011 3:05 PM

loutallica >>> velvet underground

Posted by Anonymous | December 6, 2011 3:20 PM

metallica should of hung it up 15 years ago. as long as their is ass loads of money waiting for them they will be around.

Posted by Anonymous | December 6, 2011 5:20 PM

Hetfield with the Armani bag is hilarious!

Posted by Anonymous | December 6, 2011 5:27 PM

Lou Reed looks like Frankenstein in the first scene in the video.

Posted by Anonymous | December 6, 2011 8:04 PM

you're all a bunch of homo hipster assholes. Go listen to your faggot Black Keys music and shut the fuck up. Jerkoffs

Posted by Anonymous | December 8, 2011 3:07 AM

Rich Metalheads can do what they want IMO.

I don't care about "LuLu"...

I still love Metallica for the first 4 and the last one "Death Magnetic", which is awesome.

Posted by Anonymous | December 8, 2011 2:06 PM

We all know the world's money has been sucked by the banks but I don't see how this can stop Metallica fans from going to their concert. I've been to their concert in eastern europe once. People there were POOR and the stadium was still full!
