i'm going to the national every night... after seeing them four times already this year. softball for the anonymous haters. do your worst.

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2011 2:03 AM

seeing the National is like taking a sleeping pill

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2011 4:07 AM

I have saw them three times already this year...is like taking a sleeping pill

Posted by Carl P. Lynch | December 12, 2011 5:03 AM

They are still on tour from high violet?

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2011 5:03 AM

Taking a sleeping pill is like.....taking a sleeping pill. It makes me sleepy.

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2011 6:50 AM

I was so bored with the Nationals live show I fell asleep and couldn't even walk out like I did the Black Keys because I was sleeping.

Posted by Anonymous 2 | December 12, 2011 7:40 AM

I saw them touring behind High Violet.... in March of last year.

Posted by Venkman | December 12, 2011 8:08 AM

"Who's going every night?"

Why beat around the bush. Just pose the question as "Who's a huge fucking loser?" or "Who's got no fucking life?"

These shows are such non-events.

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2011 8:13 AM

This is going to be a very interesting week, have no patience to see what will be like!

Posted by Sam Move | December 12, 2011 8:14 AM

Billy Joel is still touring behind River of Dreams!

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2011 8:19 AM

Saw Pavement 5 times, LCD 5 times, and Godspeed 4 times!

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2011 8:24 AM

8:19 wins

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2011 8:38 AM

McCartney still touring around "I saw her standing there". Top that.

Posted by donn | December 12, 2011 8:41 AM

I'm going to two of them - can't wait. Wonder if they'll have special guests. I assume Sufjan will pop out, but I'd love if Bon Iver or Win Butler (both recent onstage collabs) came out for a show.

Posted by Paul | December 12, 2011 8:46 AM

these shows will be half full.

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2011 8:48 AM

I like really the The National but get increasingly tired of their songwriting structure. Doesn't EVERYONE realize that almost ALL of their songs are slow and then eventually end with a blow-up in instrumentation. Seriously, almost EVERY one of their tunes are composed in this manner. While the songs sound different, they almost all end the same.

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2011 8:52 AM

anyone going all nights want to donate their tickets to someone who isn't going??

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2011 9:06 AM

8:41, the genius of 8:19's comment is that River of Dreams came out in 1993 and Billy Joel hasn't put out an album since. Just so you know.

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2011 9:08 AM

Hey @8:48 - all the shows are sold out or nearly sold out already.

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2011 9:09 AM

Eh, maybe if it was the Tindersticks I'd go see them.

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2011 9:13 AM

Local indie band makes good. Even if they're not your cup of tea, show a little respect and admiration for what they've accomplished, even if grudgingly. Keep the hating to yourself please, no one really cares what you think.

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2011 9:22 AM

I'm going on Friday and I am stoked. I will not fall asleep.

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2011 9:27 AM

Godspeed 5 nights > LCD 5 nights > Yo La Tengo 8 nights > the National 6 Nights

Posted by 2011 for consecutive shows.... | December 12, 2011 9:28 AM

i don't hate, i just a wonder why

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2011 9:28 AM

Tickets available on ticketmaster for Thursday night, good seats too.

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2011 9:28 AM

My doctor told me to stop taking my lunesta and just go to these shows instead. He said that should get me back on a regular pattern.

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2011 9:29 AM

"My doctor told me to stop taking my lunesta and just go to these shows instead. He said that should get me back on a regular pattern."

You are not funny and your attempt at humor was dismal. Major FAIL!

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2011 9:33 AM

I'm going Saturday - can't wait. I understand why so many dim whited morons here think The National are for sleeping. It takes half a brain to enjoy this band. Wake up dummies.

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2011 9:33 AM

Blue Cross Blue Shield Horizon is now covering most of my National ticket expenses....I only have to pay a $10 "convenience" co-pay.

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2011 9:34 AM

"Eh, maybe if it was the Tindersticks I'd go see them.

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2011 9:13 AM"

@9:13...you rule. Let's have a beer.

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2011 9:45 AM

"My doctor told me to stop taking my lunesta and just go to these shows instead. He said that should get me back on a regular pattern."

LOL! Awesome, keep 'em coming!

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2011 9:50 AM

Anyone going more than one night who isn't getting paid to be there must be very very "special."

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2011 9:54 AM

I can't see a band for more than one night in a row. Don't you people have better things to do with your time?

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2011 9:55 AM

"My doctor told me to stop taking my lunesta and just go to these shows instead. He said that should get me back on a regular pattern."

LOL! Awesome, keep 'em coming!

^^ Apparently the same person. More intolerable than liking your own status.

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2011 9:55 AM

955 apparently didn't see godspeed for multiple nights.....yea it was special.

ps they're playing coachella 2012 with radiohead/coldplay as headliners.

Posted by Takk | December 12, 2011 10:06 AM

What time does Yo Lo Twango go on?

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2011 10:06 AM

"Apparently the same person. More intolerable than liking your own status."

How do you even know that for sure? For one thing, I'm not that funny so I wouldn't have come up with something like that anyway.

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2011 10:10 AM

If KCMU was still around, they would play The National on the radio for five days straight to honor this show. Not like those chumps over at KEXP. They're too busy playing what the 'fork tells them too.

I noticed that BV Chicago's comment section has a facebook login option, but still allows anonymous commenting, and BV austin has "sign in with Disqus"....Are you trying different options out?
Are we finally going to end the obnoxious anon comments here?

Yours Truly, peace and hummus,

What I'm really wondering about is if Batman is going to be killed at the end of The Dark Knight Rises. Thoughts?

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2011 11:06 AM

Just going 1 night, no need to go all six (not like the setlist will vary THAT much).

Also...

"Why beat around the bush. Just pose the question as "Who's a huge fucking loser?" or "Who's got no fucking life?"

These shows are such non-events. "

How are these non-events any more or less than any other show posted about?

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2011 11:23 AM

I have only heard one The National song and it reminded me of The Hives and The Vines. I'm tired of all of these "The" bands trying to take over the scene.

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2011 11:28 AM

who the hell is going 6 nights? don't they have like 2 albums?

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2011 11:40 AM

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2011 12:39 PM

Don't know which one of these comments I like more:

"I have only heard one The National song and it reminded me of The Hives and The Vines. I'm tired of all of these "The" bands trying to take over the scene."

or

"who the hell is going 6 nights? don't they have like 2 albums?"

Posted by Paul | December 12, 2011 12:50 PM

how different are the setlists really going to be?

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2011 12:51 PM

Dream Theater, now THERE'S a band that knows how to change up their setlists!

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2011 1:07 PM

12:39 the prerequisite is that you have a vagina? ZING!

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2011 1:14 PM

If King Krule opens for Yo La Tengo I'm going to be so fucking disgusted I might leave.

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2011 1:18 PM

No mention of the just announced 5-night O.A.R. stand at Bowery?

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2011 1:20 PM

1:20 please stop.

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2011 1:34 PM

Going to all 5 Moscow shows = 140%

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2011 1:40 PM

Going to all 5 OAR shows = 1%

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2011 2:26 PM

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2011 2:55 PM

Went to see The National when Clap Your Hands opened for them...walked out when Clap your Hands was finished.

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2011 3:19 PM

Will The National finish touring High Violet before the Pixies finish touring Doolittle?

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2011 4:28 PM

They're Montreal Canadiens fans?

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2011 4:47 PM

SUCH AN OVERRATED BAND!

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2011 4:49 PM

National is a brand of guitar picks I like.

And hummus is a spread of delight.

Combined, The National take stage to put every pretentious vegan to sleep!

*Awesome humor all around in this thread btw, Lol at LCD / Pavement / Godspeed 5 times.

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2011 6:48 PM

Does anyone have godsmack tickets?

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2011 6:58 PM

Please do not mention a band that will be gone within 2 years time, while putting Wilco in parentheses.
