It was ugly and rainy outside, but that didn't stop the pretty people from heading to the W NY Downtown hotel last night (12/8) to attend a party in honor of the Mick Rock picture exhibition that will be up at the hotel between now and 12/28. Mick Rock was of course in attendance, and there was a "Symmetry Live Performance" (the name of the hotel's performance series) by Phantogram (live) and Mark Ronson (DJ). DJ Cash also provided some tunes while we were there.

We left before Mark Ronson took over, but you can see more pictures of Phantogram (who played a bunch of songs from their new album), their setlist, Mick Rock, members of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Zuccotti Park (it's right there), and more, below...

Ugh, totally jealous. One of my favorite bands of the last couple years, and yet to see them live.

looks like a fun party

"looks like a fun party"

i truly hope that you are joking. That party looks super lame. Almost as lame as the BV clowns posting about it after the RSVP was over. You know so they can go but you idiots can only read about it.And before you cry jealous, I had the invite well in advance. Would not be caught dead at that crap. If you were serious about that looking fun then i also assume you would find it great if you had Frohawk's balls on your face.

Punx not dead

Posted by Anonymous | December 8, 2011 7:18 AM

lame. take this shit to LA vegan.

Posted by Anonymous | December 8, 2011 7:58 AM

Am I the only one that thinks Karen O is nasty?

Posted by Anonymous | December 8, 2011 8:18 AM

The guy in the leopard tights needs to be euthanized.

Posted by Anonymous | December 8, 2011 8:20 AM

I. would. hit. it.

8.18 - poor photo of her. She is quite fine.

Posted by Anonymous | December 8, 2011 9:11 AM

Mick Rock picture show... please. The man can play but his crowd mug shots before / while YYYs play is not even worth mentioning let alone go and see.

Looks like a bunch of clowns sniffing their own farts. Champagne farts and caviar turds.

Posted by Anonymous | December 8, 2011 9:50 AM

fugazi wouldn't attend that party.

Posted by Anonymous | December 8, 2011 10:04 AM

was metallica there?

Posted by Anonymous | December 8, 2011 10:05 AM

this party is almost as rock & roll as that concert TV on the Radio did in front of the Sprite billboard.

Posted by Anonymous | December 8, 2011 10:11 AM

Phantogram is really, really good.

Posted by Anonymous | December 8, 2011 10:20 AM

^never heard them, but if they are, they sure run in gross circles

Posted by Anonymous | December 8, 2011 10:22 AM

Nice leopard print tights ... um, dude. Is that Karen O rockin' the long hair these days? Also, this bunch of turds is what I expect at a KEXP event. KCMU would never attract such dorks.

Posted by Anonymous | December 8, 2011 10:25 AM

they are the 1%

Posted by Anonymous | December 8, 2011 10:29 AM

horrible people

Posted by Anonymous | December 8, 2011 10:30 AM

please take this back to LA and leave us alone

Posted by Anonymous | December 8, 2011 10:30 AM

I got ten to one that the word covered up by the hood on leopard print tights bros's parka is 'downtown'.

Posted by Anonymous | December 8, 2011 10:32 AM

"fugazi wouldn't attend that party."

You'd be quite surprised. I think I spotted Guy Picotto shacking it up with some dame in a corset over there. I'll have to confirm.

When a cheesy company like W Hotels buys a bunch of advertising on BV, it's guaranteed positive coverage of its cheesy event. This site can't be trusted anymore.

Posted by Anonymous | December 8, 2011 10:35 AM

^word

Posted by Anonymous | December 8, 2011 10:42 AM

9:20, Who is this "us" and "we" you speak of? Was there some sort of election held on this site that you won? Are you "Da Mayor" of BV?

Posted by Anonymous | December 8, 2011 10:42 AM

just glad that Bloomberg cleaned up all the stinking hippies camping in Zuccotti park. The sight of the poor really sours the taste of my $500 champagne.

oh and look at these 3 pricks

Posted by Anonymous | December 8, 2011 10:50 AM

What the f does this have to do with rock?

Posted by Anonymous | December 8, 2011 11:10 AM

Zucotti Park does look quite beautiful now that it is a park again.

Posted by Anonymous | December 8, 2011 11:16 AM

That 2nd pic from the top signifies the epitome of trendiness.

Posted by Anonymous | December 8, 2011 11:51 AM

I walked out 2 songs into the opening DJs set and then defecated in Zuccotti park in honor of Karen O.

Posted by Anonymous | December 8, 2011 12:04 PM

Guy is chilling at home with Kathi and his cat because he no longer has to prove to anyone how cool he is. Thx.

Posted by Anonymous | December 8, 2011 12:53 PM

that dude(?) in the leopards would get his ass beat in 99% of the united states for walking down the street. good thing he's from the 1%.

phantogram are great though. especially live.

Posted by Anonymous | December 8, 2011 2:35 PM

Fucking losers. Get a clue

Posted by Anonymous | December 8, 2011 4:13 PM

Why is everyone surprised YYY look like that? Who cares? Karen O was always a charactature and the bandmates followed suit. As for the party? It looked like a yawn fest.

Posted by Really? | December 8, 2011 4:44 PM

now THATS a hip party in gentrified lower manhattan full of pretensious douchebags sipping champagne!

Posted by Anonymous | December 8, 2011 5:48 PM

wow, these comments are hilarious as they are more bitter and pretentious then everything being said by a bunch of wanna be too cool for school hipsters. Mick Rock is rock n' roll enough so that everyone icon he shot seems to believe it and most of you probaby have had one is his images in your record collection, on a t-shirt or on your wall at some point in your life and if not then you really have zero clue about music. Good for Mick for finally getting his due after working his ass off for over 50 years taking the most iconic images ever...post something when you all have done that in this time...that's if you are not too busy posting negative bitter ass illiterate comments.

Posted by Anonymous | December 8, 2011 6:54 PM

ooooooooooh, photos of poseurs, posing

Posted by Anonymous | December 8, 2011 6:58 PM

i don't think betsey johnson is a poseur posing...actually i don't see anyone posing for the camera at all. i just see photos of people standing around drinking free drinks and watching a band play live. is everyone harping on the event because it wasn't in brooklyn?

Posted by Daevn | December 8, 2011 8:01 PM

^no just that it's about as rock &roll as a meeting of creativas at JWT

Posted by Anonymous | December 8, 2011 8:14 PM

That little guy from yeah yeah yeahs was at the Eyehategod show on sunday

Posted by Anonymous | December 8, 2011 9:18 PM

That little fellow from the yes yea yeas was at mamouns this afternoon

Posted by Anonymous | December 8, 2011 9:43 PM

@daevn you pretty much right in your comment! I question what these people on here think rock n' roll is? i don't think they have any clue if they think Iggy Pop, David Bowie, Debbie Harry, Queen, Lou Reed, Joan Jett and a million others in this exhibtion are not "rock n' roll"!?! Also Brookyn should kiss the yeah yeah yeahs' asses for helping to put them on the music map!

Posted by Anonymous | December 8, 2011 10:17 PM

That little guy from yeah yeah yeahs walked out of the Black Keys show Monday. I heard him say on the way out, "... and when they play the Garden, I'll probably walk out too".

true story

Posted by Anonymous | December 8, 2011 10:23 PM

Not a surprise at all that YYY's are part of this phony pretentious downtown event that is what has happened when fashion commercialism meets "music arts". Thats the new NYC that those kids are happy to be apart of.

DJ Cash? Are you serious thats your name?
And Mick Rock has some pretty impressive nifty fashion plate scarves on.
