BOBBY

The Loom, who just released a free MP3 from their new album, and BOBBY, who are still on a short East Coast tour, shared a bill at Mercury Lounge in NYC on Friday night (12/3). Here are some pictures.

One day earlier, Daytrotter posted a new session with the Loom which you can check out now. More NYC show pics below...

I really don't need to smell or look at your hipster sock-clad-feet. #wearshoesyouidiot ... you are in public.

Kurt lives! And seriously, what is that girl in the first band playing? What could that possibly add to the music?

Posted by Anonymous | December 5, 2011 2:46 PM

There are two women in the Loom. One plays french horn and trumpet and the other plays keyboards.

Posted by Anonymous | December 5, 2011 3:05 PM

Any "band" comprised of two people one of whom plays French Horn is not a band at all, but rather two people that need other musicians to make anything compelling and yet don't want to pay the other musicians an equal cut of the door.

That selfish variety of class inequality has been going on since some caveperson thought it proper to charge the other cavepeople rent for sleeping in the cave that he by rights didn't really own to begin with.

The Loom has five members. Sorry to spoil your rant.

Posted by Anonymous | December 5, 2011 3:39 PM

Ah ... five members, of which two are female ....

Never mind :-)

Great photos as usual, BV.

Not one smile. Two bands, one night of music for $12 and you don't get one smile? Very. Serious. People. Very. Serious. Music. Remember when music was FUN?

One person can make compelling music with any instrument. Do you have a degree in small mindedness?  We smile, but not at hipster douchebags who have nothing better to do than anonymously post mean comments about nice people they've never met. Should we dutifully show our teeth like Louis Armstrong and bow for you too? Suck. My. Dicks.

Posted by Sarah from The Loom | December 6, 2011 4:06 PM

@4:06 wow... racism, violent mysgynistic language, prejudice, paternalistism. Armstrong smiled b/c that was his hustle, baby. That's entertainment!!! He was a CONSUMATE musician and showman. You? Not so much. I'm not a stranger, Sarah. Caught your act. Meh. Your potty mouth stage chatter was a real turn-off. Anyway, with Armstrong, there was the whole "black man in the Jim Crow South" and that "be a happy-go-lucky black man or get lynched" dynamic that he sidestepped in order to live a long, fruitful life. Kind of a miricle of talent, smarts, and tenacity, you know? Actually, you don't. But you just go ahead and be righteously indignant, Sarah from the Loom.

anyone think bands like this are the nickelback of indie? this is tired, staged backwash and posturing. bands even looked bored.

Posted by christiane | December 7, 2011 12:15 PM

It's not bored it's disaffected, and it shows the poser hipster cred. And that and $2 will get you a Grande COD at Starbucks

Posted by Anonymous | December 7, 2011 12:32 PM

drummer from the loom still looks like he's rubbing one out when playing. http://www.brooklynvegan.com/img/music/loom/mercurylounge2/24.jpg.
