$25 for YYY at BK Bowl is UNREAL.

So glad a good band is coming out for this cause.

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 10:33 AM

gonna bowl and watch the YYYs and cream ma panties

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 10:34 AM

Random Question: when's the last time the YYY's played a proper show? Like one that wasn't secret, private, exclusive, or at a venue much smaller than they ought to be playing?

I remember them playing Secret Project Robot, MHOW, and now BK Bowl, but can't remember the last time they played a more fitting venue ala Terminal 5.

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 10:35 AM

Bear In Heaven are listed as DJ's, so you should still support their actual live show.

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 11:12 AM

BUG MUSIC!

Posted by Javier Buchananeversonia | December 14, 2011 11:38 AM

It keeps true to Jonathan's parties. Did he ever start a party at 7pm and promptly wrap it up by 11 so you could get to bed in time?

NO.

New York Night Train is a late night thing, for late night people.

Also, this isn't a formal concert from one band, it's a party to help out a friend and fellow musician. It's more about the vibe and supporting than seeing one particular band play a long extended set.

With that being said, get there by doors, get a few drinks, and get a good spot.

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 11:39 AM

How is this not sold out yet?!

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 11:54 AM

and no pussy fighting, even though it's at the bowl. this is for a good cause.

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 11:54 AM

anyone who hasn't yet bought a ticket is a pussy. good music, good cause, good food/drink, small space, brooklyn - what else do you hipsters want?

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 12:07 PM

Pretty sure Nick DiPaolo will make a covert guest appearance. Good buddies with Mr. Toubin.

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 12:08 PM

Same night as Brooklynvegan night. Nice to see the vegan post it despite that.

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 12:13 PM

Bk vegan show has to be over by 12 if doors are 5. Might try both

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 12:17 PM

This should be at Maxwell's instead. Start time around 7 and end up 11. No reason a band should play that late.

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 12:24 PM

1124pm we know you just came from Ohio but bars/venues in NY usually close at 4am:)

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 12:28 PM

It's Friday night in New York City. Take a nap and go out, there is no rule book saying a band can't play after Midnight you granny.
Stay in NJ where your shows promptly end at 11 so you can get on the NJTransit and head back to the burbs.

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 12:28 PM

^ thanks for the advice, mom. next time i'll plan my show for you.

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 12:29 PM

waaaaaaaaaaahh!

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 12:37 PM

the fact that this isn't sold out literally boggles the mind.

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 12:54 PM

I got 20 tickets will need to put them up on stub hub immediately so I can reap the benefits.

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 1:39 PM

"the fact that this isn't sold out literally boggles the mind."

Why does it boggle your feeble mind? Forget for a second the benefit and what it is about
It is a late late show. There are a ton of other shows that night that have been announced way in advance and people have tickets for.
Heavy Trash/Stabbing Eastward/Rev Vince Anderson are not huge draws Finally except for morons above going apeshit, not many people actually get worked up about the YYY's anymore.

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 1:40 PM

i'm vewy vewy tiyud. i'm goin beddie-bye.

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 1:41 PM

1:40 feeble mind? wow, you're a prick.

YYYs playing a 600 person show, which is also a benefit show for a very worthy cause, and not selling out all $25 tickets within several hours would boggle anyone's mind who is familiar with the NYC/BK music scene.

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 1:42 PM

Actually no 1:42 and that is why your mind is feeble. You actually know nothing about or don't have your hand on the pulse of the NYC/BKmusic scene. I said forget the cause for a second which i agree is worthy but there are lots of worthy important causes out there these days.
Like i said no one really gives a shit about YYY's anymore. You apparently still do which is why your familiarity with the "scene" is way outdated

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 1:45 PM

1:41 made me LOL

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 1:46 PM

ahhahah yall funny. fighting bout charity events. who gives a shit. i hope everyone that goes has fun. im not goin cuz i cant but whatevs.

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 1:48 PM

1:45 I'm sorry of the YYY's are not "scene" enough anymore. For some of us (i.e. the majority of music-listening, concert-attending NYC and BK) great bands never go out of style. Especially ones that are considered the flesh and blood of the NYC/BK music elite ala YYY's or LCD. Jackass.

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 1:50 PM

to back the comment made by @142, the show is now sold out. all price levels, can't get a single ticket in my cart.

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 1:51 PM

hahahahahaha 145 thinks yeah yeah yeahs aren't relevant to the nyc music scene. name one band (other than james murphy's disco party) that's more relevant, ya moron.

yeah yeah yeahs are born n bred in nyc, everyone knows that. they more or less are the nyc music scene. i understand you probably moved here from idaho a few months ago, but most of us new yorkers are still into yeahyeahyeahs and consider them one of our own

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 1:54 PM

could 1:40 and 1:42 pussy it out at the bowl?

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 1:54 PM

yes!!!! it's sold out now. ok everyone go to stub hub. The ?$200 tickets with no shipping charges are mine. buy them up!!!!

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 1:55 PM

Really, 1:45, you will get nowhere coming onto Brooklynvegan and claiming that Yeah Yeah Yeahs are not relevant to our music scene. That's like saying lettuce isn't relevant to a salad.

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 1:56 PM

haha @156. anyway, really glad this sold out - weheartJT! (not JT, but the other, less famous JT)

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 1:57 PM

aren't YYY from CA?

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 1:59 PM

1:54 they would, but 1:40 is apparently too 'scene' to go to this show. too cool for YYY.

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 1:59 PM

Yeah Yeah Yeahs are an American indie rock band formed in New York City in 2000. The group is composed of vocalist and pianist Karen O, guitarist and keyboardist Nick Zinner, and drummer Brian Chase.[2] They are complemented in live performances by second guitarist David Pajo, who joined as a touring member in 2009 and replaced Imaad Wasif who had previously held this role. According to an interview that aired during the ABC network's Live from Central Park SummerStage series, the band's name was taken from modern New York City vernacular.

rly guys? i need to paste this here?

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 2:00 PM

YYY haven't been relevant in Brooklyn for what, 5 years? They were never any good anyway.

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 2:02 PM

21+ AGAIN FUCKKKKKK

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 2:04 PM

Claiming that Yeah Yeah Yeahs are not relevant to our music scene is like saying chickpeas aren't relevant to our food scene.

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 2:06 PM

2:02 show your bones came out in 2005 (maps); it's blitz came out in 2008 (soft shock, skeletons, rated top 10 album of 2008 by literally every music publication at the time). so ya, no.

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 2:06 PM

relevant in brooklyn - lulz.

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 2:06 PM

I thought yeah yeah yeah was from England why are they so popular in ny

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 2:09 PM

people listen to the YYY's? They had one good song. One. Are they relevant to the Brooklyn music scene anymore? it's a fair question. I know Karen O lives in LA (which is really perfect for her). Do the little fella and the square still live in NYC?

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 2:11 PM

I hope they sing their hit song hit me with your best shot

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 2:18 PM

Yeah LULZ big time to the morons getting their little panties all in a snit cause their Precious YYY's are not that big anymore
OOOH they sold all the advance tickets to a 600 person room in 6 hours. OOOh yeah they are on fire. And this is not sold out fools. Advance tickets are sold out. There will be plenty sold at the door night of or do you not ever know how BK Bowl works., You know since you know the NYC/Bk music scene.

Also,1:54 you say most of us know. Who are you speaking for? Was there an election on BV that made you spokesperson for the "scene"

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 2:24 PM

Seriously...dude gets run over by a car while sleeping in a hotel room and you bitches complaining about this?
I fucking hate you all.

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 2:27 PM

1:54's comment especially made me crack up. This might be the same genius who made the comment the other day that the biggest and best bands in the world are Coldplay, U2 and the National.

Get a clue you out of touch fucking moron.

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 2:27 PM

2:24 is blatantly 1:40

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 2:28 PM

To be clear, you guys are arguing about whether or not YYY's and LCD are staples of the NYC music scene? Yes, they are. Now stop arguing, this is a benefit show.

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 2:30 PM

2:27 part 2 also blatantly 1:40. Syntax is a giveaway.

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 2:31 PM

To throw my hat into the mix, one thing I've definitely noticed on BV is that there is some jerkoff who constantly makes ridiculously annoying posts, and then adds a caps-locked LULZ at some point in there. I have a feeling that 2:24 is that person, and he should drown himself.

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 2:33 PM

2:28/2:31 is blatantly 1:54 and a bunch of the other comments. Syntax is a giveaway. He is fuming and livid

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 2:33 PM

geez, why are tickets so expensive. it's charity show should be like 10 bucks to start.

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 2:34 PM

Everyone knows the four main acts of the NYC music scene are THE STROKES, INTERPOL, YEAH YEAH YEAHS, and LCD SOUNDSYSTEM. Now shut up and buy the tickets so Jonathan can become a normal person again.

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 2:35 PM

@234 there were $25 and $35 tickets but they sold out

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 2:36 PM

I am 2:28 and 2:31. Yes, I am the same person. I thought that was really, really obvious, given the fact that I used essentially the same phrasing/sentence in both posts? And no, I am not 1:54.

Posted by ? | December 14, 2011 2:37 PM

yes you are

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 2:38 PM

"Everyone knows the four main acts of the NYC music scene are THE STROKES, INTERPOL, YEAH YEAH YEAHS, and LCD SOUNDSYSTEM"

LOL, just LOL

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 2:40 PM

^yeah, lool. what is it 2003?

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 2:40 PM

the four main acts of the NYC music scene are Girl Talk, Matt and Kim, Phantogram, and Animal Collective

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 2:41 PM

@241 if that's true, i'm moving.

Posted by ? | December 14, 2011 2:42 PM

it's true they are all from Brooklyn so they are what is hot.

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 2:44 PM

2:40 and 2:40 are the same person due to time of posts. 2:41 is ridiculous. 2:35 also ridiculous, yet I can't think of any other bands to substitute on that list except other contrived, dated bands.

it's hard to say someone is a pillar of the nyc music scene when all you hipsters regard as 'cool artists' are people who have literally released 1 mixtape and are about to release their first LP and play some buzz show at MHOW or some shit. cover your hype boners and acknowledge the artists who spawned from nyc and have gained international acclaim. it's not terrible to like a band that is famous.

the comments on this thread are beyond fucking idiotic. all of them.

Posted by give me a fucking break guys | December 14, 2011 2:45 PM

THE STROKES, INTERPOL, YEAH YEAH YEAHS, and LCD SOUNDSYSTEM

these are all professional show business acts (booking agents, PR etc.) at this point. They are not a part of the music scene. They haven't been in quite some time. This is not the Brooklyn music scene:

http://www.brooklynvegan.com/archives/2011/12/phantogram_play_2.html

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 2:47 PM

2:41/2:44

Phantogram is from Saratoga Springs
Animal Collective is from Maryland
Girl Talk is from Pittsburgh
Matt and Kim are (unfortunately) from Brooklyn

Posted by give me a fucking break guys | December 14, 2011 2:47 PM

i love The Matt and Kims!

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 2:47 PM

247 - 'professional show business act' = every hipster band you love once they actually become successful at what they do.

Posted by give me a fucking break guys | December 14, 2011 2:49 PM

Posted by jonathan | December 14, 2011 2:49 PM

Hey "give me a fucking break guys" loser. Calm down man. It's going to be ok. I promise.

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 2:54 PM

i thought the big four were anthrax or something?

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 2:58 PM

2:54 but how can he calm down now that you think he's a loser? his life is over.

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 3:09 PM

Pretty much seems like he had no life to begin with.

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 3:14 PM

Brooklyn Bowl says that the show is not sold out and there will be tickets available at the door.

the fact that this isn't sold out literally boggles the mind. Yeah Yeah Yeah's are one of the most important relevant bands in the world.

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 3:20 PM

@320 the fact that you're making asshat jokes about a benefit show for a much-loved new yorker who was run over by a taxi while asleep in his hotel room says all i need to know about you as a person.

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 3:31 PM

1:40 is the one who has no life. Just look at the progression of comments in this thread. He is blatantly just a troll trying to piss people off and start some shit.

His first heavy-handed response was directed at a guy who said he was surprised that the show hasn't sold out yet, to which he replied by calling everyone in the thread morons. Troll somewhere else, you're obviously too cool/smart/in the know for all of us.

Posted by F'real though... | December 14, 2011 3:36 PM

@336 let him troll on, at least the thread is getting comments. comments >> attention >> more $ for JT.

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 3:38 PM

Give me a break guys changed his name now to F'real though.

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 3:39 PM

@339 i don't think he takes this commenting thing as seriously as you do...

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 3:41 PM

I really don't care who is playing....
It's a BENEFIT for JONATHAN !!!!!!!!!!
Come out and support a man who need our help.
Be well Jonathan and heal quickly !!!

Posted by David | December 14, 2011 3:41 PM

10:52 is a piece of human excrement.

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 3:49 PM

Reading this thread I have a serious question. Which is worse on here? Troll baiting or the dorks who get so angry that they accuse every comment they don't like as being made by the same person. I'm gonna go with the latter which of course makes me the same person making all the whatever comments you do not like.

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 3:49 PM

I don't understand @349 part 1's comment. he said "this concert is a gift for everyone involved." that's a pretty positive statement. bands win, audience members win, friends/family of JT win. care to explain?

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 3:55 PM

"Advance tickets to this event are SOLD OUT. We may have a limited amount of admissions available at the box office starting at 10:30 PM. All admissions will be a minimum donation of $35, cash, with no re entry. First come, first serve." -Ticketfly.com

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 3:57 PM

3:55...I just wrote that so I could say 3:55 is 10:52.

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 4:04 PM

Thanks 3:57 for clarifying that the event is not sold out. Only advance tickets.

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 4:08 PM

The argument here is over nothing in particular. I feel like I am with my family.

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 4:10 PM

@404 even more confused now. thanks?

Posted by 355 | December 14, 2011 4:12 PM

4:08's response to 3:57's completely objective post makes me think 4:08 hates the worldz

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 4:15 PM

^ Who cares? Nick DiPaolo's got it all solved.

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 4:18 PM

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2011 6:36 PM

the four main acts of the NYC music scene are TV On The Radio, the Rosebuds, Sleigh Bells, and Vampire Weekend. They are all most definitely from Brooklyn and NY

Posted by Anonymous | December 15, 2011 6:41 PM

"If people bail after Yeah Yeah Yeahs that'll be lame."

Why would that be lame? Stabbing Eastward are terrible and Reverend Vince Anderson, while awesome, has been doing the same show for over a decade.

Posted by Anonymous | December 15, 2011 6:57 PM

2:06 - maps isn't on show your bones. it's on fever to tell, which came out in 2003.
