Does anyone know where I can get one of those "I Love Jethro Tull" t-shirts?

Posted by Anonymous | December 19, 2011 11:06 AM

Nick Zinner is my favorite part about YYYs...

ps hopefully their next lp will be better than their last one...

Posted by Anonymous | December 19, 2011 11:06 AM

nick zinner is my least favorite. brian is clearly the strongest link in that band, in terms of musical talent at least.

Posted by Anonymous | December 19, 2011 11:14 AM

I <3 John Travolta

Posted by Anonymous | December 19, 2011 11:17 AM

11:06,

Nick Zinner actually goes to my gym (the NYSP on Mercer). That dude is the only guy I've ever seen who can maintain an apathetic face while lifting weights.

Posted by Anonymous | December 19, 2011 11:20 AM

great pictures

Posted by Anonymous | December 19, 2011 11:22 AM

so much fun, the brevity of the set was surprisingly part of what made it so strong

Posted by Anonymous | December 19, 2011 11:23 AM

YYY setlist?

Posted by Anonymous | December 19, 2011 11:27 AM

no way that fucking guy lifts.

Posted by Anonymous | December 19, 2011 11:44 AM

11:44, I would think the same thing but I've seen him there (albeit only a few times).

I love the Yeah yeah yeahs. Hopefully will see them live one of these days. I think the best thing about this post is the photography, pics are awesome!

Posted by Bigd | December 19, 2011 12:17 PM

Get well soon JT!

Posted by Anonymous | December 19, 2011 12:19 PM

It wasn't a new song man, it was a cover of Human Fly by The Cramps

Posted by Anonymous | December 19, 2011 12:25 PM

Is that the same guy with the "new song?" setlist from the other YYY post? Jeez, I wouldn't think that song is all that obscure

Posted by Dave | December 19, 2011 12:33 PM

i like women singers who fellate their microphone

Posted by Anonymous | December 19, 2011 12:33 PM

"It wasn't a new song man, it was a cover of Human Fly by The Cramps"

Wow, someone didn't recognize "Human Fly"? It's only 35 years old.

Posted by Anonymous | December 19, 2011 12:42 PM

most people have no idea what Human Fly by The Cramps is

Posted by Anonymous | December 19, 2011 12:47 PM

it took me longer to look at the pictures than the length of YYY's set.

Posted by anonymous | December 19, 2011 1:14 PM

Agree. James Taylor rules!

Posted by Anonymous | December 19, 2011 1:24 PM

"most people have no idea what Human Fly by The Cramps is"

What "most people" do or do not know is not an excuse for not being familiar with something, especially something considered by "most people" to be an important influence in the history of the punk/indie/alternative/whatever music that "most people" who read this blog are "mostly" into.

Posted by Anonymous | December 19, 2011 1:28 PM

So a band called 'the cramps' wrote a song called 'human fly' and that song was played at this event by a different band. Am I understanding this right?

Posted by Anonymous | December 19, 2011 1:37 PM

"most people have no idea what Human Fly by The Cramps is"

And suddenly it becomes clear why the world is so full of mediocre bands now.

Posted by Anonymous | December 19, 2011 1:37 PM

Ha, love Karen O's Santa suit.

Posted by Anonymous | December 19, 2011 1:48 PM

YYY's rule.

Posted by Anonymous | December 19, 2011 1:49 PM

Every one of these photos is brilliant, and it is official... I'm never gonna let go of my crush on Karen O. It's just not gonna happen.

Posted by Joey Pangilinan | December 19, 2011 1:54 PM

Karen rocks! Nick rocks! Brian rocks!

Anyone feeling otherwise, kick rocks!

Posted by Anonymous | December 19, 2011 1:59 PM

You guys are all so lame not one mention of the other awesome musicians and dj's that played. The night was great! Get well Jonathan!!!!

Posted by Bunny G | December 19, 2011 2:16 PM

Plus, "Human Fly" has been covered and recorded by a bunch of other bands (Halo of Flies, for instance). It's not just some obscure b-side, there's been plenty of chances for someone to be aware of it.

Posted by Dave | December 19, 2011 2:17 PM

Relax Dave and others so bothered by this. It should not shock you that the fools who still worship YYY's would not know the song was Human Fly. Makes perfect sense to me. Just sit back and laugh at those comments such as the ones made by 11:23, 1:49 and 1:59. Dumb idiots, get a clue.

Posted by Anonymous | December 19, 2011 2:26 PM

i still dont wish she was my girlfriend/wife

Posted by Anonymous | December 19, 2011 2:29 PM

@1:28....you are an enormous douche.

Posted by Anonymous | December 19, 2011 2:33 PM

I would totally take 1:28 over 2:33. You sound like a moron.

Posted by Anonymous | December 19, 2011 2:43 PM

Awesome show all night long. Thank you everyone.

Posted by Anonymous | December 19, 2011 2:59 PM

I guess we should give every clueless Midwesterner who moves to Williamsburg a copy of music that made this famous as soon as they board that United Airlines flight.

Posted by Anonymous | December 19, 2011 3:02 PM

"most people have no idea what Human Fly by The Cramps is"

With Google in the world, there's absolutely no excuse for the intellectually incurious today.

Posted by Crosseyed Sniper | December 19, 2011 3:40 PM

Karen is the epitome of hipster douche. This is way past its prime and hugely embarrassing to all involved.
Shame on that taxi driver for starting the snowball that led to this.

Posted by Anonymous | December 19, 2011 3:40 PM

FUCK DO I CARE ABOUT THIS LAME SHIT

1:28 [citiation needed]

Posted by Anonymous | December 19, 2011 6:03 PM

There is no fucking way anyone who goes to this site does not know about Human Fly.

Posted by Anonymous | December 19, 2011 7:42 PM

Nice nod to the Cramps by the YYY's, tho I would have preferred TV Set or Uranium Rock instead. Cramps put on an insane live show back in the day-
complete pandemonium- and had a sound uniquely their own.

Posted by Anonymous | December 19, 2011 9:14 PM

You ain't no punk you punk/

Wanna talk about the real junk?

Posted by Anonymous | December 19, 2011 10:30 PM

A lot of people may not know human fly by the cramps, but I would bet that 99% of you know what a pita triangle is used for.

Posted by Anonymous | December 19, 2011 10:52 PM

who has the set list you stupid mother fuckers piece of shit fucking asshole dick lick cock sucking fucks?

Posted by Anonymous | December 19, 2011 11:49 PM

MEH squared

Posted by Anonymous | December 20, 2011 1:00 AM

Haters are hilarious. YYY's and The Strokes are the only bands to come out of NYC in the last 10 years that anyone will remember years from now.

Posted by Anonymous | December 20, 2011 3:58 AM

They played Human Fly a few years ago at the Santos show in homage to Lux who had just died.

Posted by Anonymous | December 20, 2011 9:12 AM

@358 lcd clownsystem

Posted by Anonymous | December 20, 2011 9:27 AM

^ Which points out another reason why not recognizing Human Fly is a little bit shameful. There's people rushing in here to say how much they like YYY's, yet THIS BAND THAT YOU CLAIM IS YOUR FAVORITE is pointing to this other band (The Cramps) and saying, "Hey, this is one of our influences"... yet you still haven't bothered to check them out and get familiar with them. What other incentive are you waiting for? This is how you learn stuff.

Posted by Anonymous | December 20, 2011 9:31 AM

Takes time, man, takes time...ease up, friends.

Posted by Anonymous | December 20, 2011 11:50 AM

You finger-pointing, self-righteous shits are the biggest idiots of all, cos human fly was covered by the cramps. If you don't know who did it before them, then go kill yourselves.

Posted by Anonymous | December 20, 2011 3:09 PM

No idea who did it before the Cramps. But the point is that someone thinks Human Fly is a new Yeah Yeah Yeahs song, and not anything else.

Posted by Anonymous | December 20, 2011 3:34 PM

^^^^ 3;09 above, you are a fucking dummy. While The Cramps covered lots of songs and incorporated many older songs into their tunes, Human Fly was actually theirs. Written by Lux and Poison.

Posted by Anonymous | December 20, 2011 3:35 PM

"I can't hardly stand it" all this ignorant views of the crammps! They are the best zombie band ever!

Posted by Anonymous | December 20, 2011 3:54 PM

why do you people even bother arguing. it is clearly an original Cramps song:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_Fly_(song)

Posted by Anonymous | December 20, 2011 4:19 PM

@ 3:54 The Zombies were the greatest zombie band ever.

She's Not There might be one of the greatest rock songs ever.

Love Potion # 9 a close second.

@11:20 - nans, no way that dude lifts weights. ever.

Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2011 1:09 PM

I tried to get to this show, but couldn't catch a cab. Apparently, they were all busy running over shitty DJs...

Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2011 1:53 PM

Does anyone know what time YYY's went on?

Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2011 5:20 PM

130

Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2011 9:56 PM

How anyone can think that Karen O is anything but nasty is beyond me.

I took my first personal loans when I was 25 and it supported me a lot. Nevertheless, I require the consolidation loans over again.
