Interesting combo there. Then again Tool usually some intriguing openers.

Tool >>>>> you and any indie flavor-of-the-month band you listen too

Most unexpected headline ever of the day.

Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2011 12:20 PM

wow i dont like tool but i would go to this to see yob. very surprising choice.

Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2011 12:22 PM

That's insane. What about Intronaut?

Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2011 12:30 PM

12:19....classic sausage

Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2011 12:31 PM

The best part about Tool is hearing a bunch of dudes cream their pants when their tour dates are released.

Arena shows..Great for YOB..not for me..

Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2011 1:02 PM

I don't know a thing about this band, but damn that is one sweet axe in the pic.

Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2011 1:07 PM

I like Tool because their fans wear things that say "Tool". It makes it easier for me to walk around and know which people are tools and which aren't. They're proud of being tools and I can respect that.

^this is a very strong comment

Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2011 1:20 PM

Tool
yup, that about says it 1:10
you, I mean

I love how people say they don't like Tool. Stop being to cool for yourself. I like Yob, but come on people. Tool is definitely an amazing band. Just because a lot of people that like them have never heard of Yob or anything interesting or underground isn't enough of a reason to say you don't like them. Tool is perhaps one of the greatest artistic metal bands of recent times.

I just hope the new Tool album recycles riffs off of Opiate this time around.

Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2011 1:51 PM

Tool is for people who don't like metal but want to say they do.

Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2011 2:03 PM

Meshuggah, Melvins, Fantomas, Tomahawk, King Crimson...now YOB.

Niiiiiiiice.

Posted by goAt | December 21, 2011 2:04 PM

Is YOB still using Dark Castle's drummer?

Posted by Dude | December 21, 2011 2:15 PM

12:57 loves hearing dudes cream their pants.

Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2011 2:23 PM

12:19: Is disappointed that Bradford Cox is asexual :)

Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2011 2:40 PM

I heard Nick DiPaolo will be the second opener. Gonna be fun!

Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2011 3:22 PM

a lot of new metal doesn't interest me in the least (these days, I prefer Tame Impala, Psychic Paramount, Woodsmen, etc), but damn is that new Yob album a killer. Mike writes some fine fine music.

Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2011 3:44 PM

People who define Tool as artistic also believe that if you just put the tip in you can't get dudes pregnant.

Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2011 3:51 PM

1:10 nailed it

Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2011 3:58 PM

I bet that guy gets tons of poon.

Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2011 5:18 PM

3:51 u sound like a hipster sausage sucker.

Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2011 7:30 PM

This bitch at the bar the other night thought she was pretty darn cool wearin' her Tool shirt, like I give a sh*t. She looks at my shirt and says "What the f*ck is the Melvins?" all snooty. I said "What the f*ck is a tool besides what you're gonna get stuck with tonight. Get back on the school bus." True Story.

Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2011 8:02 PM

^sausage daydream. Never happened.

Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2011 8:28 PM

1:35 - You are exactly who I'm talking about. I'd prefer it if you wear your "Tool" gear around so the rest of us know you're a tool without having to hear you speak.

Posted by Anonymous | December 22, 2011 11:52 AM

11:52 What exactly is your problem with Tool? Why are you checking out they're dates if you don't like them? Grow up buddy. Yob is awesome, but don't get down on Tool.

Posted by Anonymous | December 22, 2011 12:10 PM

Their**

Posted by Anonymous | December 22, 2011 12:12 PM

Damn! I was so stoked until I realized Yob isn't on the Toronto date. Oh well hopefully they come back soon and it'll be at a way smaller venue.

Posted by Anonymous | December 22, 2011 10:26 PM

Holy S H I T !!! He's ordering three sausages?!?!

That's how it's done, Q U E E R S !!!

Posted by Anonymous | December 23, 2011 6:26 PM

I love how 1:10 (and his admirers 1:20 and 3:58) think they're so brilliant with the Tool t-shirt comment, as if Tool themselves weren't in on the joke (um, it's part of the reason that's what the band was named). They have a long, long history of messing with their fans. Regardless of the percentage of meatheads and idiots in their current audience, the members of Tool themselves are intelligent, witty, and creative people who came from the underground... I'm sure it's unthinkable to the shallow "indie" poseurs of today, but back in the early 90s, most art school kids listened to Tool. Of course, this was back when being artsy and having balls (literally or figuratively) were not mutually exclusive. Zak Sally, former bassist of the excellent (and indie critic-respected) band Low, wrote an eloquent essay about the strange amount of vitriol so many intelligent music fans seem to harbor toward Tool. Like with so many other bands, it boils down to the fact that kids in the suburb like it, so regardless of the artistic merits, it sucks. Tool might have some obsessive fans that over analyze the lyrics and present a kind of willful ignorance about other kinds of music, but most of the indie community appears more motivated by being fans of perceived coolness than being fans of quality music when it comes to their hatred of Tool.

VERY NICE THANKS
