APTBS at BV-CMJ 2011 (more by Chris La Putt)
A Place to Bury Strangers

A Place to Bury Strangers are set to release the Onwards to the Wall EP on February 7 via Dead Oceans. The single, "So Far Away," can be downloaded HERE. They just made a video for that song, which you can watch below. The video was made my APTBS member Oliver Ackerman with the Hipstamatic iPhone app, using a collage of photos that he himself had taken.

A Place to Bury Strangers are heading out on a North American tour in March and early April supporting The Joy Formidable. That tour hits NYC on March 28 at Terminal 5. Tickets for that show go on sale Friday (1/13) at noon with an AmEx presale starting today (1/11) at noon and there is an option to donate $1 to a number of charities, which you can choose from. The tour has no scheduled stop the day before the T5 show, so hopefully A Place to Bury Strangers will use that time to grace their hometown of NYC with a smaller, headlining show (but if not, they're sure to do so soon anyway).

In related news, ex-APTBS members will be playing as MOFO, when they open for White Hills at Mercury Lounge on January 24. Tickets for that show are still available.

I saw them play at Pianos last year. They almost sold out the show.

Yeah but I don't f--king care if Cerebral Ballzy changes their name because they f--king suck and I hope they never record another note of music EVER again. Done!

"A Place to Bury Strangers" is a reference to a book of poetry published by the great 20th Century occultist Aleister Crowley.
That makes it a cool name.

We were promised jetpacks?

I've seen the Joy Formidable play a couple of times. Mercury Lounge for sure. Maybe Bowery Ballroom. Really like them. There is no way they even come close to selling out T5... unless one of their songs was used in some teen TV show or some car commercial that I'm unaware of.

I saw Joy Formidable in the basement of my last walk-up. It was amazing. They're too big now to place any place smaller that Met Life Stadium.

A Place to Bury Strangers are the only band in NY that write great melodies. They're not just another noise band for coked up hipsters. They write great songs!
