At The Drive-In

"ATTENTION! To whom it may concern: AT THE DRIVE-IN will be breaking their 11 year silence THIS STATION IS ...NOW...OPERATIONAL"
That news was posted on a new official At The Drive-In website and has been confirmed by the band. No word on what exactly it means (dates, record, other projects, etc), but there have been reports of a show scheduled in Russia, and any way you slice it, excellent news! - BBG .

I'm sorry, but this band just sucked. Seriously. I could never understand why my friends in high school listened to this pretentious, emo shit. Punk died and all we got were these gap-ad rejects?

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 2:24 PM

Saw them at Bowery with Blue Tip and Murder City Devils. Awesome show. Unfortunately, they will probably play T5 if they do a NYC show.

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 2:24 PM

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 2:27 PM

I hope they play lots of shows in NYC. They should also play ATP NJ.

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 2:28 PM

roseland or t5 are their only options.

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 2:28 PM

Sparta>Mars Volta

Saw Sparta @ CBGB's - they killed it. Only positive part of seeing Mars Volta was seeing Saul Williams & RyeCo open up.

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 2:28 PM

@2:18 go hang yourself

Yes i am 2:27 and i believe i said wrong on so many counts not all.
No Doubt, Mangum,,Justice are probably the only ones you got right.

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 3:03 PM

I liked Sparta. Also dug Sleepercar and a lot of the Jim Ward stuff. I def took the Jim Ward fork in the road. Never got into Mars...

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 3:06 PM

this will be at MSG, huh? If Black Keys can sell it out, then I don't see why ATDI couldnt. Just make sure youre on the floor.

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 3:07 PM

2:18- 1)Punk didn't die. You just stopped pretending to pay attention to it. It carried on without you. You weren't that important.
2)At the Drive In were not emo.

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 3:17 PM

GET AYYWAYY, GET AYYWAYY

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 3:23 PM

At the Drive-In at MSG? Come on now. It will almost definitely be at Terminal 5 or Roseland, maybe 2 nights.

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 3:23 PM

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 3:25 PM

This reunion marks the first time ATDI have done something that Fugazi didn't already do.

YES.. they were emo. The black eye-liner mopey shit that's called "emo" these days, is NOT emo.

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 3:58 PM

God, stop complaining. You fucks will never be happy.

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 3:59 PM

I saw Fugazi when you were still watching Rugrats.

I might be old, but you SUCK....and will also be old soon!

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 4:23 PM

The Giants Stadium gig was supposed to be the Beastie Boys, Iggy Pop, and ATDI.

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 4:24 PM

Fugazi reuniting is reason to get excited. This band is not.

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 4:24 PM

this band had some good songs, but i don't think a reunion is necessary.

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 4:28 PM

shit band. fuck do i care

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 4:29 PM

Your mom's my reason to get excited. None of these bands are.

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 4:30 PM

"Fugazi reuniting is reason to get excited."

Even if Fugazi did reunite, they still will not play NYC. They passed the city during the last couple of tours.

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 4:36 PM

3:58- No, bands like Marginal Man, Endpoint, etc, were Emo (i.e. emotional hardcore). ATDI didn't really fit in with that category either. The use of the word "emo" now has a completely different connotation. I strongly doubt that 2:18 was comparing ATDI to the aforementioned (truly) emo bands.

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 4:54 PM

4:36- Don't imply that Fugazi has something against NYC. I saw them play here at least half a dozen times.

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 4:55 PM

everyone who hates this band obviously has no real taste for decent music. They are one of the last bands that really had heart in their performance and craft. And if you don't agree then fuck you! come at me bro!

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 5:06 PM

WHO CARES

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 5:07 PM

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 5:07 PM

fugazi is reuniting with joe lally and 3 other dudes.

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 5:10 PM

How many times did Fugazi play NYC? Besides the NYU shows that the general public could not attend. Not many that I can think of.

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 5:15 PM

I heard they're playing at a drive-in.

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 5:16 PM

I remember seeing this band open for rage against the machine in 1999 and following this band from that point and bring heart broken when they split. Can't wait to see them live again

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 7:19 PM

Cool to see them reunite, but y'all are delusional if you think they can fill MSG. This is either T5, Hammerstein, or Roseland.

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 8:23 PM

5:15, Fugazi played public shows in NYC a fair amount. Poke around the Fugazi Live Series site and you'll see.

Posted by Eggs1234 | January 9, 2012 10:02 PM

Looks like Fugazi played NYC about 10 times. One more time than Atlanta. Considering how packed their shows were (last times anyways), I am surprised they didn't play more.

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 10:22 PM

One of the WACKEST and GAYEST is back.
No thanks Team Afro Hipster Douchebags.

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 11:42 PM

Volta's first album was arguably the best prog rock record of all time up to this point. Sparta's porcelain was great and put a slightly unique twist on all of the other sh*t coming out at the time. ATDI has and will continue to inlfluence countless bands in the future, if u dont agree u are misinformed. All of that said "the shape of punk to come" was well ahead of its time....

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2012 9:09 AM

Music is fun to hear

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2012 9:36 AM

"Volta's first album was arguably the best prog rock record of all time up to this point."

I would agree that it was the best prog rock album of the year it was released. But "of all time"?! You're joking? Right? Do you realize that King Crimson, Yes, Rush, etc. are prog rock bands?

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2012 9:44 AM

@944 not to mention radiohead and pixies.

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2012 9:50 AM

^^apologies-meaning prog/post punk -i shudda clarified that even though this is an ATDI thread-king crimson and rush whom i both love arent in the same genre.

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2012 10:22 AM

They should pay Garden Variety all the money they make on these reunion shows.

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2012 2:02 PM

As much as I love Fugazi, I haven't even given a moment's thought as to them reuniting, much less playing NYC.

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2012 2:12 PM

9:44 - I love reading the comments on BV. It's amazing how misinformed some people are.
