Bjork

Bjork says:

the 10-show biophilia residency in new york is an historic musical event, with a full icelandic choir and a 4-week children's educational program. you can watch a video about the latter [below].

to help support this effort, björk is offering a limited number of vip packages designed to deliver the most intimate biophilia experience.

** please note** vip packages must be picked up at the door. you must bring your id and the credit card you used, and they must match. vip packages cannot be gifted unless the credit card owner is present at the door. presale for all tickets and packages begins january 10 at 10am EST.

Tickets to all 10 shows range from $90 - $170 (update: VIP is $1000!). Same price for New York Hall of Science and Roseland. Fan Presale (which nobody knows the password for yet) (UPDATE: password is biophilia) starts at 10am today (1/10). General sale begins Friday at 10am.

What I don't understand is that I am a member of every Bjork group I know of and yet I didn't receive word of a presale or password.

Posted by Dan | January 10, 2012 9:50 AM

@950 its bullshit, that's why. literally no one knows the pw. it's some backdoor for scalpers probably, masquerading as a fan presale. it's happened before.

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2012 9:54 AM

5 minutes till sale. if anyone gets the password, PLEASE (pretty please) post it ASAP to help the others out. thanks.

Posted by Dan | January 10, 2012 10:06 AM

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2012 10:07 AM

anyone figure out the difference between the price levels?

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2012 10:08 AM

Anyone trying to get 3/2 roseland tickets but only see vip $1,000 tixs?

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2012 10:09 AM

Please heeelp!! how you buy the tickets!?!?!

Posted by Claudia | January 10, 2012 10:09 AM

bjork roseland show capacity = 3,000+
bjork NYHS great hall show capacity = 450

google it. tough decision?

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2012 10:09 AM

I haven't figured out the different price levels, but $170 is kinda steep. I'm sure the view from the $90 seats will be sufficient (at least I hope.)

Posted by Dan | January 10, 2012 10:10 AM

"Bjork will also include an interactive exhibit in conjunction with The Creators Project at The New York Hall of Science using Biophilia songs and Biophilia apps as installations."

= worth the trek to nowhere queens

Posted by jen | January 10, 2012 10:12 AM

Yeah, can't figure the difference out for the prices, but went with the cheaper ones. this description for the queens shows sounded quite promising:

In partnership with The Creators Project and the New York Hall of Science, Björk is set to bring her live Biophilia show to NYSCI. The NYSCI shows have been set to Björk’s original Biophilia specifications, as audio-visual shows in an intimate setting with no audience member more than a few yards from the stage. All shows are performed in the round. Ages 16 and older. Two ticket limit per household. Tickets will go on sale January 13 at 10 am via Ticketmaster.
The NYSCI shows will take place at 8:30 pm in the Great Hall. The Great Hall is NYSCI's original building, which was designed by Harrison and Abramovitz Architects for the 1964/1965 World's Fair. With undulating blue Dalle de Verre glass and concrete walls, the building was designed to give the illusion of being in deep space. Doors to the Great Hall will open at 7:45 pm; NYSCI will open at 6:30 pm for ticketholders.

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2012 10:12 AM

2/28 show still has tickets. no problem pulling them up

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2012 10:12 AM

$170 to see bjork in a 450-capacity room with walls made entirely of LED lights? YES FUCKING PLEASE.

complain all you want about the price; this shit cray.

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2012 10:13 AM

Got em'. I'm gonna rub them all over my naked body and then resell them.

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2012 10:13 AM

i got 2 tix using BIOPHILIA.

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2012 10:16 AM

got tix. i set for queens and 1 set for roseland. i'm psyched. i want to thank you all. people on this site are the best. really.

Posted by richard | January 10, 2012 10:17 AM

anyone who chose roseland over nyhs is not winning. google the place and look for images of the great hall, you'll see. if bjork was destined to perform in any room, this is it!

i went with the $90 tix, hoping that's sufficiently awesome. for my money, it has to be!

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2012 10:17 AM

password is BIOPHILIA

Posted by nic | January 10, 2012 10:18 AM

3/2 tickets why 1,000 option only?!

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2012 10:19 AM

ANYONE who chose roseland over queens is a complete idiot.

-Roseland holds 3,500 people. Queens venue holds 450 people.

-Roseland has shitty sightlines and audio. The Queens venue is a custom built space designed by Harrison and Abramovitz to make you feel like you are tripping (and that's without Bjork being present).

-roseland is mixed ga seated/standing, and mezz standing. queens is all GA seating, no standing.

-roseland means you'll be waiting in a queue for 45 minutes before getting into the doors; queens means you'll be waiting for 45 seconds due to the small capacity.

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2012 10:24 AM

also i hope anyone who bought a $1,000 VIP package is really rich. otherwise that's really sad.

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2012 10:27 AM

i think we can all agree that the hall of science is way more dope, but no need to get agressive, holmes. it's all love here. seems like everyone who wanted to got tix, no need to put people on blast just b/c they didn't do their homework.

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2012 10:27 AM

SO. EXCITED. FOR. QUEENS. SHOW. AT. GREAT. HALL.

LOOK AT THIS FUCKING ROOM!!!!!

doobybrain.com/2011/11/13/the-great-hall-at-the-new-york-hall-of-science-in-queens/

NOW ADD BJORK!

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2012 10:28 AM

correction to 10:24, NYHS GA seating are $170+, GA standing ~$90

given the capacity i'm sure standing is sufficient.

Posted by jen | January 10, 2012 10:29 AM

@1024am. Going to both as Roseland will be in the round but Queens show will be very special;)

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2012 10:30 AM

seems like GA standing in queens was the smartest bet.

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2012 10:34 AM

I accidentally bought tickets to a show on a day I'll be out of town. I freaked out and immediately bought a second pair for the right day, but now have 2 extra tix to the 2/18 saturday show in Queens. If it sells out, anyone want to buy them from me? Not trying to make a profit- just the 179.50 from ticketmaster.

Posted by jenny | January 10, 2012 10:41 AM

Yup, someone was right, that first pic screams Pazuzu.

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2012 11:39 AM

Where does it say capacity is 450 for Queens? I googled it didn't find capacity...room looks great though!

Scroll down to the details for the Great Hall and you'll see the 450-person capacity. That's for all-standing too, so it'll probably be more like ~400 person show given that there are some seats.

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2012 12:23 PM

more people need to play this queens venue.

and no one cares if biophilia sucks - these shows (especially the queens ones) seem more like an event/experience than a straight up concert.

plus the second half of her set will be heavy with hits, as she has done at her other biophilia shows.

Thanks 12:23!

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2012 12:28 PM

People get over it, yes, Biophilia is arguably Bjork's worst, but as 12:25 points out, this is more about the event that she's playing these 10 shows, which are likely the only NYC (and USA?) shows she will play in the next 4 years.

I'm not looking forward to hearing the album, myself, but there's too much worth experiencing that comes with this ticket that would allow myself to huff and puff and miss the opportunity.

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2012 12:35 PM

"and no one cares if biophilia sucks - these shows (especially the queens ones) seem more like an event/experience than a straight up concert.

Thanks Mayor. Not sure when you were made the spokesperson for everyone.
An event/experience??? Pfffft don't make me laugh. She sucks plain and simple. And "hits". LOL That is a funny word to use when talking about Bjork.

If by 'bang', you mean have Bjork laugh at your baby d!ck and then make you cry in shame....yes, yes, I'm sure that is possible to arrange.

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2012 1:10 PM

1:02-Why a fool? Because you worship this piece of crap music. You are an idiot sheepdog. She is terrible plain and simple. The fool is you. Yeah when you think of Bjork you think tons of HITS.
Dude you are a fucking idiot.

12:57-You are an idiot also. Bjork is like Pitchforks Number 1 girl.

"there's too much worth experiencing that comes with this ticket that would allow myself to huff and puff and miss the opportunity."

Yeah unless you realize she sucks. Then there is plenty of worth not going to this.

Caroline Polachek commented in pitchfork about trashy brooklynvegan comment guys and their sexist comments.

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2012 1:49 PM

Saying that Bjork is a bad musician is a non-argument. It's like you are introducing yourself to the world as an ignorant music listener.

Even if you don't like her, it is still common knowledge that Bjork is a great musician. I don't like her. I am just saying this in an appeal to whatever truth there is in the world.

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2012 4:03 PM

3:53 brings up a good point...how are folks planning on getting there? i have never really been to that area, but looking at a map, my estimated route is going to be G train to the 7 train. I'm banking on 45 mins to an hour, barring any major delays on service fuck-ups.

Anyone got any other insight for getting out there? I don't have a car, obv.

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2012 4:08 PM

this show is for the 70k a year crowd

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2012 4:09 PM

4:08 - like a Mets game, getting out there is a snap (7 trains run express up to 7:00) but getting back? You better bring flares you can shoot up into the night sky for when you are nearly dead from exposure waiting for the Manhattan bound 7 train to come. I go to a Mets game, it's 45 minutes from midtown, tops. Coming back to Brooklyn it's 2 hours, on a good night.

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2012 4:13 PM

If anyone wants a ride back to NYC after the 2/18 show, I'll give rides. Have a 5-person car, 3 available seats; $20 bucks per person. Pre-arranged only.

Provide e-mail if you want.

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2012 4:20 PM

Thanks, 4:13. I kinda figured the ride home would be the shitty part. Kinda like United Palace shows, too. That shit runs local after 11 I think, and that's a lot of fucking stops from all the way up there.

Ucch. May need to do something more inventive for this trip. Cheers

in all honesty, the only way the VIP would be worth it is if they let you go onstage during the performance and play bjork's iPad/ReacTable along with her. i might pay $1,000 for that.
