Radiohead @ Roseland Ballroom in 2011 (more by Bao Nguyen)
Radiohead
Coachella

Coachella which is taking place over the course of two weekends this year (April 13-15 and 20-22) revealed their 2012 lineup. Last week, Azealia Banks was the first artist confirmed, and earlier today they confirmed The Weeknd (maybe he found a band?), and before that, Jimmy Cliff, Breakbot, and Housse De Racket. The reunited Pulp then announced itself. The full lineup also includes headliners The Black Keys, Radiohead, Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg, not to mention, as predicted, the reunited At the Drive In and the reunited Mazzy Star (!), and Madness and Refused (!) and Jeff Mangum and many, many more that you can see below...

Actually a great Coachella Lineup this year. If you are from NYC though there is really no reason to venture out there. All these bands have recently or will come and play here and smaller better sounding venues. That includes At The Drive In and Pulp (cmon you know they are not coming here just for Coachella). Unless of course you have a burning desire to see Dre and Snoop.

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 7:24 PM

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 7:25 PM

Firehose. Holy Shit. I hope they tour around that.

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 7:25 PM

WOW DEATHGRIPS!?!?! I wish I had gone to rockbeach this summer! Man Jelly is so hip.

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 7:26 PM

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 7:26 PM

"i'm there for David Guetta and Justice alone bro"

Let me guess bro, you either live in Jersey or LI?

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 7:26 PM

cool, hulahoops and bright colored skirts for a whole weekend, would way rather see atdi and refused in a non 18 yr old raver festival setting.

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 7:27 PM

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 7:30 PM

I'll admit... for the first time in what feels like a long time....I can't complain. That's solid.

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 7:30 PM

I cannot believe Refused and At the Drive In are back.. They were the shape of music to come and then music got taken over by shit like the Strokes and annoying hipsters. David Guetta the only thing I'd like to see taken off

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 7:41 PM

been there; done that. get on my level coachella

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 7:42 PM

Hello Seahorse! Nohawk!

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 7:42 PM

DRE & SNOOP!!

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 7:43 PM

I think it is just James AND Alleso not James Alleso....

Posted by jackie | January 9, 2012 7:44 PM

OK, the Friday & Sunday lineup is like a 2. And the Saturday lineup is a 10!

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 7:45 PM

How the hell are Black Keys headlining? Middle tier level at best

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 7:46 PM

Black Keys are kinda huge these days

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 7:50 PM

@ 7:45- Keep in mind these aren't all the same weekend. It's TWO weekends so...

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 7:51 PM

@ 7:51. Uh, it's the exact same lineup two weekends in a row- all the same bands- so...

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 7:52 PM

The Edge is staying in my RV

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 7:53 PM

GY!BE are also playing in outdoors in Big Sur. Insane.

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 7:56 PM

no ODD FUTURE or FUCKED UP. I just smiled.

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 7:58 PM

Will the Pres Hall Jazz Band be killing it at Coachella as well?

Posted by I'm an idiot. | January 9, 2012 7:59 PM

that's what i thought @7:46. i love the keys but i wouldn't think of them as big enough to headline. interesting...

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 7:59 PM

godspeed and mangum outdoors...just sounds wrong...cant see that working well

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 8:05 PM

fIREHOSE!

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 8:11 PM

"godspeed and mangum outdoors...just sounds wrong...cant see that working well"

It would work if they were playing when it was dark, but outdoors DURING THE DAY? Explosions in the Sky might be later in the day, but GYBE under the sun just won't be the same.

GYBE in Big Sur under the redwoods? That will be amazing. Any openers?

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 8:20 PM

godspeed and mangum will definitely be at night, no question

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 8:23 PM

GYBE amongst redwoods at Big Sur? Epic
GYBE amongst naked wizards in Indio? Tragic
Think I'd rather see them at T5 than at Cochella

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 9:05 PM

This is actually a pretty good lineup. Not that I see myself venturing out there.

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 9:34 PM

firehose?! wow. walking the motherfucking cow!

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 9:51 PM

fIREHOSE tour please. Pretty please?

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 10:16 PM

The Hives? Really??

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 10:17 PM

no lana del rey? Did she break up already?

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 10:27 PM

BUZZCOCKS.

nuff said.

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 10:29 PM

fIREHOUSE and Madness! Not going to make it out this, but still, good from them! Make it out to NY if can please. Or Wellmont (Madness)

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 10:38 PM

I'm digging the enthusiasm for fIREHOSE.

Posted by RenoPhotog | January 9, 2012 10:54 PM

Wow Zed and Zed's Dead. AWKWARD

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 11:38 PM

I was curious about the hype, so I googled "firehose" only to find out they are a bunch of has-been 40 year olds. Whoop dee doo.

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2012 11:43 PM

I'm going to roofie the shit out of some hippie chicks...

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2012 12:26 AM

46 comments and not a single one of them about Radiohead. I guess I am not the only one that thought the last album is just so/so.

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2012 1:04 AM

Not gonna lie this is a legit fuckin lineup right mya

Posted by Stephen Whitfield | January 10, 2012 1:44 AM

"46 comments and not a single one of them about Radiohead. I guess I am not the only one that thought the last album is just so/so."

no i think that we all knew they were playing. it's more fun to discuss the smaller bands and reunions..atdi, firehose, company flow, refused. see you in the desert!

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2012 1:49 AM

but srsly, has to be said...

WHERES DA DAFT PUNX!?!?!?

Posted by stephen Whitfield | January 10, 2012 4:19 AM

"WHERES DA DAFT PUNX!?!?!?"

later addition!

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2012 8:49 AM

Anyone who thinks Refused and At The Drive In were "the shape of music to come" should go back to "the shape of music that came" just a few years before them and listen to all the bands they ripped off.

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2012 9:09 AM

So it's the exact same lineup twice?

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2012 9:27 AM

so how bout NOW an atp announcement...that is WHAT IM REALLY looking forward to

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2012 9:49 AM

Im still shocked they were able to convince godspeed and mangum for this...I mean didnt they see that horrible youtube video of the bros all "E" out hugging during the national...it seems to go against what both acts are all about. will mangum cry on stage when he starts getting harassed by the bros? At least godspeed can drown them out. reminds me when My Bloody Valentine played All Points West before Tool and all the TOOL fans giving them the finger

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2012 9:51 AM

^^^i was embarrassed to call myself a Tool fan that night

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2012 10:20 AM

DAWES should be in bigger print.

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2012 10:26 AM

fIREHOSE! Hot damn! Play at Maxwell's you guys!

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2012 10:36 AM

9:51,

I'm sure it will all be fine, relax.

Posted by Awesome Dude | January 10, 2012 10:46 AM

When will the All Points West lineup be announced?

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2012 11:39 AM

When will the All Points West lineup be announced?

..you'll need a time machine for that

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2012 11:55 AM

so pumped for APW 2012!

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2012 12:06 PM

lol @ 10:46

SO ITS SETTLED. WE'RE GOING TO APW 2012.

Posted by Stephen Whitfield | January 10, 2012 12:16 PM

Also, this is A LOT of effin house\techno. Don't get me wrong, I love me some techno. Not complainin about it, just more than I expected, perhaps a tiny bit much? If I were trying to see all that techno I'd probably go to Ultra or EDC even. Whatevs, will be a party. Seems like the surplus of techno comes at the price of hip hop this year (though Dre & Snoop headlining a night is PIMPPPP), and unusually, not one jam band this year. Yeah, it's not a jam festival obviously, but there's always at least a few.

HOUSE MUZAK BE TAKIN OVA THA WORLD YO.

Posted by Stephen Whitfield | January 10, 2012 12:20 PM

Happy about this lineup.

Seriously ...if you can't make up your own mind about what you like or dislike and/or feel the need to convince others about what they think is beautiful art.... You're throwing energy out the window (of your soul)

And I am spending (wasting? Maybe) energy expressing this thought. My first sentence was a breeze though.

Posted by Burg | January 10, 2012 12:32 PM

azelia banks (whos song isn't bad) has a higher billing than Squeeze...hahaha

Its one days worth of good music with 2 days worth of garbage techno

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2012 1:27 PM

Great picture of Radiohead:

He's adjusting his pedal to the "boring" setting.

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2012 1:34 PM

Caroline Polachek commented in pitchfork today about trashy brooklynvegan comment guys and their sexist comments.

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2012 1:50 PM

I don't think that calling Radiohead boring is sexist, because I'm pretty sure they're dudes, but you never know with Brits.

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2012 2:00 PM

You should always be embarrassed to be a Tool fan.

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2012 2:03 PM

I tried to post Caroline Polachek's comments about BrooklynVegan's comments, but BrooklynVegan censored it. Irony?

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2012 2:12 PM

For the person arguing a few weeks ago about what's wrong with being a Tool fan, please check 9:51. 99.9% of Tool fans are complete fucking tools.

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2012 2:18 PM

She seems like a gnarly broad

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2012 2:34 PM

FIREHOSE. YES!!! Would have liked Firehouse also. But I will take Firehose. LOVE OF A LIFETIME!

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2012 4:19 PM

This lineup is tremendous. It's like reading the menu at mamouns. I read it over and over and over.

Posted by Anonymous | January 11, 2012 2:49 AM

i only like the bands that are listed in font size 7 or less

Posted by Anonymous | January 11, 2012 9:24 AM

that really is a pretty sick and well rounded lineup, i must say

Posted by Anonymous | January 11, 2012 9:46 AM

fuck all this shitty house. god. fuck.

Posted by Anonymous | January 12, 2012 2:42 PM

"if it sounds like noise, then you're too old"

Posted by Anonymous | January 12, 2012 3:31 PM

Darn Looks like the Inflatable Children are not playing!

Bummer.

Posted by Anonymous | January 12, 2012 4:24 PM

buying tickets doesnt seem to be something coachella's site wants to let anyone do...

Posted by Anonymous | January 13, 2012 1:31 PM

weekend 1 is sold out. i'm getting a message in standby room that says "You will NOT have the ability to purchase passes for Weekend 1."

Weekend 2 still up for grabs, although if you didn't get in the standby room by ~1:01pm then you're probably SOL

Posted by Anonymous | January 13, 2012 1:52 PM

i hesitated and got in at 102..getting worried

can't believe this fest is so popular now..

Posted by Anonymous | January 13, 2012 2:02 PM

weekend 2 is crashing, saying CC info is invalid when it isn't.

Posted by Anonymous | January 13, 2012 2:33 PM

I don't see much techno in this lineup besides modeselektor, i don't get the comments

Posted by Anonymous | January 13, 2012 9:30 PM

How the hell are Black Keys headlining? Middle tier level at best

Posted by baron | January 15, 2012 10:51 PM
