Motorhead
Megadeth

Megadeth's Gigantour set played like most of their festival appearances of the past year- a greatest hits of their career with a few surprises peppered in. As longtime fans of Megadeth, their catalog of songs are all extremely solid live. But while the band never disappoints, we feel fortunate that Megadeth still exists at all considering all that Mustaine and the boys have been through physically and emotionally over the past decade. At around nine thirty the stage went dark and Shawn Drover's unmistakable drum beats crashed for the opener "Trust," from the 'Cryptic Writings' album. "Trust," albeit not as hard as the rest of their catalog is a perfect opener...

At one point Mustaine had Lacuna Coil's Cristina Scabbia come out on stage to sing, "À Tout le Monde (Set Me Free)" with him. It was a fantastic duet of a classic, and the first time I've ever seen Mustaine sing with a female. Besides being one of the best shredders in the business, this dude can harmonize with the best of them. Along with these rare on stage moments, fans got the red meat they wanted with staples such as, "Hanger 18″, "Wake Up Dead," and "Symphony of Destruction," all of which were played to perfection. -[Local Bozo]

Gigantour, which continues at Glens Falls Civic Center tomorrow night (2/1), rolled into NYC on Saturday (1/28) at The Theatre at Madison Square Garden with apperances from Megadeth, the legendary Motorhead, Lacuna Coil and Volbeat. Pictures/setlists from that show (sans shots of Lacuna Coil, though there are some of Cristina on stage with Dave) are in this post. More of them with some videos, the setlists and all dates, below....

Lemmy does not look 66 in that first pic. Good man.

Also, that Megadeth shirt is cool (5th photo).

sad sad night for megadeth. the sound was awful for them, felt like they were a mile away. if it wasn't for the incredible set motorhead put out, there would have been a riot.

Awesome at snowboarding too.

Posted by Anonymous | January 31, 2012 10:42 AM

Very Met-uhl.

Sound was shit for Megadeth. Motorhead did the right thing and asked the crowd if they wanted them to play louder. Smooth sailing from there. Lemmy killed it.

Also, no one knew or cared who the girl in the striped jacket was that joined Megadeth for a song.

Motorhead should be headlining this shit.

Posted by Anonymous | January 31, 2012 11:03 AM

Cristina Scabbia for A Tout le Monde?

Yeah really, how dumb can you be? You mean the singer of the band that played earlier in the night?

Posted by Anonymous | January 31, 2012 12:32 PM

10:39 - yes, but his moles do. #shudder#

Posted by Anonymous | January 31, 2012 1:03 PM

Shame he went the way of Ted Nugent, angry "conservative"

Megadeth had terrible sound settings. Whoever did their sound REALLY fucked up, the entire sitting area was pissed all night because the guitars and vocals were so low, you couldn't hear shit. Thankfully Motorhead was good despite such a short set.

Posted by Anonymous | January 31, 2012 5:52 PM

Ohhh yeah, this tour isn't coming anywhere near me and that is quite the shame. Motorhead is one of those bands I haven't got to see yet and the whole line up just sounds perfect.

Surprised to hear Megadeth had sound problems. They were nearly flawless each of three times I've seen them but I guess stuff happens.

Anyway... I'm jealous.

Lemmy is looking awesome for a man of 66.
I wonder if the other bands felt ashamed that Motorhead didn't headline?
