Austra at Fun Fun Fun Fest (more by Tim Griffin)
Austra

Toronto's Austra, whose past videos defintely got people talking in 2011, have released a new one to kick off 2012. The song is "Spellwork" from their BV-favorite LP Feel it Break, and the footage was shot (believe it or not) in NJ. Check that out, along with their older NSFW video for "Beat and the Pulse, and other stuff, below.

Austra - Spellwork

"Spellwork" was directed by photographer/filmmaker Yelena Yemchuk, whose impressive director credits include the Smashing Pumpkins videos "Zero" and "Thirty-Three." Shot in the forgotten woods around Egberts Lake Park, New Jersey, Yelena describes the video as a "surreal fairy tale."

"The music videos that Yelena made with the Smashing Pumpkins in the 90s are some of my favorite videos of all time. Having the chance to work with an artist with so much energy and originality was inspiring and a huge honor for me and my band!" declares Austra's Katie Stelmanis."

I camped at Egberts Lake during the 60's when it was a summer resort. Very cool place. Glad they preserved the property instead of turning it over to developers. Great setting for that video. I liked it.
