Screaming Females in the studio (more by Kirstie Shanley)
Screaming Females

After spending some time in the studio with the great Steve Albini, Screaming Females have announced the fruits of their labor, Ugly, due on April 3rd. Check out the cover art and track list below. Don Giovanni will do the honors, and you can catch the band reppin' their label at the previously discussed Don Giovanni showcase on Feb 11th at Music Hall of Williamsburg. Tickets are still available.

If you're heading to MHoW, make sure and slide by the merch table to scoop up a limited It All Means Nothing 7" available via the band. The song will act as the band's first single from the LP, and will ALSO be available at their just-announced NYC show at Generation Records the next day (2/12).

The Generation show is FREE, open to all ages, and the start of a week long record store tour that ends at Permanent Records in Chicago on 2/19. Check out all dates along with the record info, and a video of the Screamales on NPR (where they play "It All Means Nothing"), below...

Nailed it 12:45. No other comment on this post will even come close to topping that zinger.

There's a picture of Ted Leo in the post right before this one. Everything is so damn predictable abound here! Surprise me, BV!

That picture gives the wrong impression that they are a deep band.

because she looks wierd and opens her mouth wide, indie superstars. jeez, kids are fucking shallow as shit these days. fandom of this band = shallow hipster

People hating on a band doing a free tour. Amazing.

3:14 should be over in the Odd Future post where his musical knowledge (or lack thereof) is more apropos.

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2012 4:11 PM

4:11 should make their own decisions on what music they like, and not be such a sheep.

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2012 5:05 PM

are they playing record stores because no one will pay to see them anymore?

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2012 5:25 PM

I've been making my own musical choices since before you were collecting action figures, 5:05/3:14. Learn something about music, or go back to playing Guitar Hero.

can't wait for this record, don't see how anyone can hate this band.

5:38 hit a nerve huh? truth hurts. I learned to make up my own mind, not be drawn in by bangs and hype.

So stoked

This band rules!

The artwork is starting to look like Rudimentary Peni artwork..

Yeah, 6:53/5:05/3:14, you did hit a nerve - I actually LISTEN to music - recordings and live - and have little use for the press or peer pressure you base your poor decisions on.

I guess it really doesn't matter, children like yourself tend to lose interest in music soon enough, and your passionless and uninformed opinions will be of even less value in the future than they are now.

sorry lady, but I'm probably just as old as you. went to rutgers, knew marissa and the hipsters they rolled with, wanted no part of that fake ass shit. No one cared until she c_a_m_e_o_u_t, then said how hot she was (sure), then how great she sings (sure), then how "good of a guitar player" she was (sure)- everytime anyone calls this band on their bullshit, girls keep making up excuses to like them. It's called "like people for their band, not their sexuality" and I'm sure you fit the bill. Now they pay_ol_a to be on this site and its ridiculous. Now please, go wallow in that cake you're pounding into your sad face, and find some puppies to rescue or something. Better yet, go to Ikea and buy some National records, sheep.

Ooh, you went to Rutgers, 5:45/6:53/5:05/3:14? You KNEW Marissa? Who gives a flying fuck, you self-important twerp? You've not only got MY age wrong, as well as gender - yours is betrayed by your stone ignorance and misogyny (we'll leave your homophobia for later). I own and listen to the releases, and have seen them live a couple of times, that's where MY opinion comes from - not an intimate knowledge of your tiny little knee-jerk universe.

What's the name of YOUR musical project? I'd LOVE to witness your amazing skills live - at 6' 2", I'm sure I could see you from the back, and would love to discuss your incredible talent in person. Fuck you, armchair warrior.
