Bjork in Queens (photo by Julieta Cervantes)
Bjork

Bjork has extended her NYC residency by one more show, in part to make up for the show she had to cancel, though the new show is at Roseland and the cancelled one was at the New York Hall of Science.

In appreciation of her fans' support Björk is adding one final show at Roseland Ballroom on March 5. Individuals who purchased tickets for the February 9 show will be offered these tickets first in a pre-sale to begin tomorrow, Tuesday, February 14th at 10 A.M. Tickets will be available to the public at 10 A.M. Wednesday February 15.
The next Bjork show is 2/15 New York Hall of Science. All shows are listed with more information below...

BJÖRK BIOPHILIA NEW YORK RESIDENCY

Björk is currently in the middle of six performances at the New York Hall of Science, New York City's only hands-on science and technology museum (located just across the Grand Central Parkway from Arthur Ashe Stadium and Citi Field in Flushing Meadows, Corona Park). Doors open at 6:30P.M. for the Biophilia integrated exhibits and the theatre at the New York Hall of Science will show Biophilia audio-visual playback at special times throughout the residency. There will also be four performances at Roseland Ballroom (239 West 52nd Street). The New York Hall of Science shows have been set to Björk's original Biophilia specifications, as audio-visual shows in an intimate setting with no audience member more than a few yards from the stage. All shows are performed in the round.

These shows worth going to if I'm not the biggest fan of Biophilia?

Could anyone who has attended any of the prior NY Hall of Science shows give some advice? What time did the performance start? With GA tickets, is there any best way to stand? How early do you recommend arriving to get a decent vantage point with GA tickets?

Thank you in advance for any responses.

Show last night started at 8:30 and ended about 10:10. 17 songs.

Sight lines were good throughout - it's not jammed full of people which is nice.

Go early to walk through the museum/exhibits - they give you a map when you get in.

It was a great show even if you are not familiar with the new record. The room is fantastic, the sound was great. It was truly a unique experience and I've been to a lot of shows.

Enjoy!

I think it's pretty Biophilia heavy but how could it not be worth it?

Posted by Anonymous | February 13, 2012 3:56 PM

wow, 3:56 nailed it. correct on all the points and make sure to walk around the museum. Very cool. If you want to get on the rope, go early. They give out colored stickers and then let people in based on what sticker they got so you don't have to hang in line all night.

BV, I just posted a lengthy, detailed overview of the logistics for the NYSCI Bjork shows. It was held for approval. Please post it!!

Posted by Anonymous | February 13, 2012 4:23 PM

Enjoy paying ticketmaster's exorbitant and non refundable fees again people

Posted by Anonymous | February 13, 2012 4:24 PM

Thanks for the kind responses regarding the shows. I can't wait for 2/18.

Seven comments in, and no trolls (yet.) Could we go for a new BV record?

Posted by Dan | February 13, 2012 4:26 PM

if i wanted to see her at roseland, i would have bought tix for that venue in the first place. this sucks.

Posted by Anonymous | February 13, 2012 4:29 PM

"I think it's pretty Biophilia heavy but how could it not be worth it?"

Well if like a lot of people you think she sucks, her voice being like nails on a chalkboard and your standards for something "mind blowing" reach much greater heights then it is not worth it. Get over yourselves Bjork loving turds.

"Seven comments in, and no trolls (yet.) Could we go for a new BV record?"

Just because someone is not a fawning idiot to this trainwreck does not make them a troll to comment and say so. Again, get over yourself.

Posted by Anonymous | February 13, 2012 4:42 PM

I disagree 4:42. If you are not a fan of Bjork, simply skip the post and move onto something a bit more spoon-fed for your narrow taste. No one reading this post wants to hear your waste of an opinion.

Posted by Dan | February 13, 2012 4:53 PM

4:40/4:42 - i'm not sure how "get over yourself/selves" is a relevant comment (insult?) in this context. no one appears to be acting selfishly, grandstanding, pompous, or otherwise, aside from yourself.

i will never understand why people feel the need to attack others for their opinions or viewpoints when it comes to something so ineffectual and trivial as music fandom. what the fuck do you care? get over YOUR self, dude. do you really have nothing better to do or are you just a miserable person?

Posted by Anonymous | February 13, 2012 4:56 PM

Thank you Dan and 4:58 for clearly illustrating the idiocy of Bjork fans. Well Done.

(Oh and 4:58, in case your feeble mind did not pick up on it, check out Dan's comment. Apparently anyone who does not like Bjork has "narrow" tastes in music. Yeah that is not being pompous or negative at all)

Posted by Anonymous | February 13, 2012 5:06 PM

Oh and I am sure you will come back with "Weill it was in response to an already negative comment" As if that makes it justified.

"if i wanted to see her at roseland, i would have bought tix for that venue in the first place. this sucks."

yup. feel bad for all the NYHS ticket holders that got the shaft

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2012 10:37 AM

presale password is biophilia for anyone who cares

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2012 10:47 AM

you + brain = roseland ticket. tix will be available for several hours, like all other roseland shows were

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2012 10:50 AM

tons of roseland tix have been and still are available on the secondary market, as well. she should have done the entire run at NYHS.

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2012 11:00 AM

MY Science Hall show was unbelieavable and worth it..most of the reason was the intimacy and venue...Roseland not so much!

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2012 11:03 AM

11AM roseland secondary market tix are all above 115 per ticket, so not such a great deal. granted this is all happening because she cancelled that one nyhs show; other wise every roseland show would be below face

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2012 11:33 AM

the addition of another roseland date is just going to further dilute the re-sale pricing of the remaining tix for those shows, which is actually awesome. i think there are a lot of scalpers who probably didn't do their homework on these shows and figured roseland is better b/c it's in manhattan, which is clearly not true. i hope a lot of scalpers got fucked on this run. just the idea of that warms my heart.

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2012 12:37 PM

I once heard a giant chicken wing flapping wildly and the beat it made sounded like a biophollia rhythm on acid.

Posted by The Music Sniffer! | February 14, 2012 12:55 PM

Anyone who uses the phrase "secondary market" from now on will be taken out back and flogged with dildos (the big black ones "ass to ass")

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2012 1:03 PM

1237 every ticket is above face value on the secondary market for every bjork show; no scalper lost.

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2012 1:23 PM

^^
i am quite sure that is not the case, scalper

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2012 1:25 PM

Yeah that is so not the case 1:23 and 11:23. You could easily get tix for face or less for all the Bjork shows. I did and so did other people I know.

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2012 1:52 PM

125/152 i'm talking about the present, not the past. SH prices are pretty black-and-white.

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2012 2:03 PM

2:03 again you are an idiot. The past? You mean like a few days ago schmuck? And if you are going by SH as your secondary market price look then you are an even bigger idiot than i already thought. What people on SH ask is most of the time not what they get. They remove when they don't sell and lower their prices closer to each show.

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2012 4:55 PM

SH lol. On craigslist people have been giving em away cause they are not getting what they ask for on SH

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2012 4:55 PM

schmuck lulz

if you list your tix for the lowest price on sh, you'll sell every time. shit fluctuates. just look at guns n roses tix now - they're actually worth something.

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2012 11:22 PM

^ Again the know nothing commenting. Go on Craigslist dummy. Today(and tomorrow for that matter) was a nice little G N R ticket dump. No one asking for more than face and some even less.
Keep paying inflated prices on SH stupid while the rest of us who know the game laugh at you as we get cheaper tickets and often better seats.

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2012 11:52 PM

show was amazing. no more than 500 people in the venue. I saw anthony haggarty on the 12th. show started at 830 ended around 1015. wasnt crowded at all and i got there right before she started. most intimate setting you will ever see bjork in. if anyone is going on the 18th, can they get me a poster from the show. ill gladly pay extra plus shipping, as i flew from sf to see this. thanks and enjoy the show it really was special.

Pres Hall Jazz Band > Bjork

Posted by Anonymous | February 23, 2012 1:39 AM

to dispel previous myths, i got a ticket for about $10 less than face value on sh about an hour before the show

Posted by Anonymous | February 23, 2012 2:22 AM

for roseland concerts- ticket says doors at 5:30PM - anyone know from last night what time the show ACTUALLY starts?

Posted by anonymous | February 23, 2012 9:14 PM

9:14 - ours started at 8:30 with 7:00 doors. no opening band

Posted by Anonymous | February 25, 2012 5:31 PM

Last night's show started EARLY (7pm). And 'Floor Standing' was awful. Does anyone know what the difference between 'Floor Seating' and 'Stage Seating' was?

Posted by Anonymous | February 26, 2012 10:53 AM

Floor standing was totally fine. I could see as well as I've ever been able to see at a show.

Posted by Anonymous | February 26, 2012 12:04 PM

The roseland show was almost as intimate as the museum shows. If you get a chance definitely stubhub a ticket.

Posted by Anonymous | February 26, 2012 12:07 PM

Bjork made the Roseland show so intimate by playing in the round. Get there early so you can be 5 feet away from her!

Posted by Anonymous | February 26, 2012 12:55 PM

Questlove was at the show last nite!

Posted by Anonymous | February 26, 2012 1:05 PM

I'm not big into Bjork and I enjoyed the show just fine. I was not able, however, to shoot my load onto Bjork's nose from the Mezz as I had hoped. I had a guy in front of me who was bigger than a hippopotomus, and I think he would have enjoyed the jizz hat. Other than that fat fuck blocking about 25% of the stage view, the show was quite good.

Posted by Anonymous | February 26, 2012 1:05 PM

5:31 & 10:53 - So when do the Roseland shows start? 7p or 830p? I find it weird that there could be two drastically different set times... Also, how early do you need to get there to grab a decent seat?

Posted by Anonymous | March 2, 2012 11:13 AM

I got there at 8:00, and it was about 59% full.
She started a bit after 8:30. Incredible show!
