THERE IS A GOD

Michael Sosa would let Fiona use his mouth as a toilet.

BV announcing and covering shows = cool

BV producing shows = not cool

This entire site loses credibility once it jumps into the game of making money from producing shows. Oh well. It was good while it lasted.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2012 10:08 AM

White people are going nuts everywhere.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2012 10:08 AM

It's about time she came to BK! Can't wait!

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2012 10:27 AM

YESSSSSSSSSSSSS

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2012 10:35 AM

$40? Come ON.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2012 10:36 AM

10:08 - your argument lacks logic. this site has been making money off of advertising for years now, how is that different from making money off of producting (really great) shows?

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2012 10:37 AM

10:08(a), you are such a high minded idealist. You are like our own Che. Can I come and intern with you? I can only aspire to some day be as cool and detached as you. Come on everyone, let's have a round of applause for our visionary leader, the man of distinction, Anon 10:08(a)!

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2012 10:42 AM

Also, 10:08, BV's been hosting/producing events for years.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2012 10:49 AM

Fuck yes.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2012 10:53 AM

Thanks to capitalism, I have hummus to eat for lunch, fine threads to put on my pasty and bulbous body, and a warm room to bother my neighbors from. Thank you, Adam Smith!

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2012 10:54 AM

$40 is CHEAP for concerts these days! Especially for major acts. Go see a show at Mercury if you can't afford this. Or get a job.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2012 10:56 AM

^ now you've done it, 10:54. Crazy eyes left winger troll in 3 .... 2 ..... 1 ......

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2012 10:56 AM

Isn't she like Feist without the edge?

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2012 10:59 AM

Yes, Fiona Apple is The Godmother of Brunchwave.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2012 11:03 AM

I love Fiona Apple, I thought she was gone into the distant void of the 90s lol.

Posted by Moving On | February 21, 2012 11:09 AM

BV has been presenting shows since at least 2007.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2012 11:11 AM

lol godmother of brunchwave lol lol lol

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2012 11:18 AM

Yes, scalpers are salivating.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2012 11:21 AM

Salivating for, you guessed it, dick sauce.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2012 11:34 AM

anybody receive the presale code yet? i'm dying to get tickets before the scalpers do!

Posted by h | February 21, 2012 11:57 AM

Just breathe deep, 11:57. Go grab a chamomille tea and a finger sandwich and put on some Tori or Sarah, someone will post the pass soon enough.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2012 12:05 PM

Why is it necessarily bad to make money? You don't like money? I like money. Also producing concerts (from what I hear) is a HUGE pain in the ass relative to the amount of cash you are gonna see...

Posted by joshua sanders | February 21, 2012 12:07 PM

Wow - Pete and Pete tickets for Friday are super cheap!

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2012 12:12 PM

YESSSSSSSSSSSSS

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2012 12:13 PM

You don't produce concerts to get rich. You do it because you want to share the music. They are a huge PITA and the juice ain't worth the squeeze if you're in it just to make money.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2012 12:16 PM

Fiona Apple is better than you. Seriously.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2012 12:51 PM

Sometimes you can just tell by looking in someones eyes if they are a hummus eater, and let me tell you this much... Fiona eats that lovely tan paste a minimum of 3 times per week.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2012 12:52 PM

Now if GARBAGE would just announce an east coast date, my 90's nostalgia concert set will be complete.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2012 1:09 PM

she needs to form a band with hope sandoval

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2012 1:10 PM

i know she is crazy, but she is still hot.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2012 1:24 PM

1:10 - Agreed. I like the idea of two psycho girls in a band together.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2012 1:35 PM

10:56, I am crazy-eye-left-winger-troll, and I approve of BV's capitalist concert producing endeavors.

Posted by crazy-eye-left-winger troll | February 21, 2012 1:41 PM

12:16 - Ron Delsner and John Scher were never hurting for cash, back in the pre-Live Nation days of concert promoting.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2012 1:44 PM

109 yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yessyesys yesyseyses

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2012 1:51 PM

How is she crazy?

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2012 2:13 PM

Producing shows with local talent in small clubs is a losing proposition.
Producing Paul Simon at Webster, and acts like Fiona Apple is a money grab.
There's a reason that BV has now expanded to BV-Austin and BV-Chicago and why BV can produce shows in Austin, Montreal, and Europe these days. That's because he's making tons of money. Keep on commenting and clicking the links, suckers.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2012 2:25 PM

"You don't produce concerts to get rich. You do it because you want to share the music."

You can't be serious. No one produces concerts because they just want to "share music". Everyone needs to make money to survive and the concert/music industry is no different.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2012 2:29 PM

"How is she crazy?"

How can you be a Fiona fan and not know about her craziness? She has had a few on-stage/public meltdowns.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2012 2:32 PM

Props to BV for grabbing the money.
He has a popular site that he was able to grow into something much bigger, and make money from. If I can think of a way to do the same, I will too.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2012 2:35 PM

Fiona Apple is the greatest of all time. Thanks for recognizing the real. Forget the haters. That's PG like Cee-lo Green.

Posted by DocHollywoodHustle | February 21, 2012 2:38 PM

"No one produces concerts because they just want to "share music". Everyone needs to make money to survive and the concert/music industry is no different."

I'm going to assume that you are not a total fucking moron, so I'll point out your fallacy. You clearly don't see it, but you totally read into the statement. I did not say that one makes no money doing this. What I did say was it is a pain and not worth the hassle if you're just out to get rich. If you work at booking / promoting concerts you can make money, but you will expend a huge amount of mental and emotional energy in the process. Kind of like reading BV these days.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2012 2:40 PM

2:13 - Do a Google seach on "Fiona Apple meltdown", and you'll find multiple results. One instance in particular was at Roseland back in 2000.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2012 2:40 PM

2:32 - who said I was a Fiona Apple fan? you are presuming a lot.

2:40 - thanks dude, I'll do that (should have done that from the beginning)

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2012 2:41 PM

I like my music being made by crazypeople.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2012 2:46 PM

2:40,

You ever heard of Live Nation? Do you think their shareholders REALLY care about "sharing music" with others?

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2012 2:51 PM

Not for nothing, but Live Nation shareholders are not making money.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2012 3:05 PM

2:51 - do you recognize that there is a difference between working as an accountant for McDonalds and as a chef for a local restaurant? Or, are you just looking for a fight?

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2012 3:07 PM

3:07,

Yes I realize there's a difference. That being said, the #1 priority for booking talent in large venues is PROFIT not the "love of sharing new music."

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2012 3:52 PM

disgustingly skinny

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2012 3:56 PM

3:52 - The priority is the same in most small venues too. Bottom line, if you can draw people, a bar/club owner doesn't care what you sound like.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2012 4:02 PM

Just went back and listened to some of her stuff on Spotify. Wow, I didn't realize how bad this was back then. No thank you.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2012 4:03 PM

3:52 - The focus of my comment and the ensuing discussion is on the booker, not the venue size. Stay focused. Your comment once again deviates from the point of the discussion.

any idea hiw to get pre sale tix for dc?

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2012 4:38 PM

She looks so delicious. I bet she poops strawberry ice cream.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2012 6:26 PM

Do crazy people enjoy eating hummus? Because if they do, I'm stark raving MAD!

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2012 6:56 PM

10:08 wrote nothing about making money from adjacent advertising. Go ahead. Please make tons of money doing that. But being In direct competition with LiveNation, Bowery Presents, Ticketmaster etc makes all the postings here circumspect. The reader is left to wonder whether the information presented at BV is slanted to BV productions. This site is great at covering this "scene" and relaying announcements and reviews of live shows. But by being a partner in producing events makes the any posting reek of promo and false enthusiasm.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2012 6:57 PM

It's a monopoly! obama needs to break BV up.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2012 7:11 PM

i'd only pay to see her vag

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2012 9:56 PM

Posted by carmen | February 23, 2012 10:03 AM

sold out in 10 seconds? wtf?

Posted by Anonymous | February 23, 2012 10:04 AM

Why work with anyone who uses ticketmaster? Why does Bowery do that? There are lots of services that are fair to fans and don't immediately start scalping tickets.

Posted by anon | February 23, 2012 10:04 AM

I really hate Ticketmaster

Posted by dan | February 23, 2012 10:04 AM

That doesn't make sense. I kept refreshing until the ticket screen showed up and in less than 30 seconds did a ticket search with them all gone. Can we say Scalpers???????????

Posted by Annoyed | February 23, 2012 10:05 AM

the usual Ticketmaster bullshit. what can ya do? fucking assholes.

Posted by Anonymous | February 23, 2012 10:05 AM

Posted by dan | February 23, 2012 10:06 AM

Really Ticketmaster? Terrible.

Posted by Anonymous | February 23, 2012 10:06 AM

looks like the presale was rigged. I tried at 10am exactly and many times since and it said no tickets are available for both shows.

Posted by mike | February 23, 2012 10:06 AM

it sold out in 3 seconds? I call BULLSHIT

Posted by Diamond Prince of Persisa | February 23, 2012 10:06 AM

FUCK TICKETMASTER

Posted by Anonymous | February 23, 2012 10:07 AM

FUCK there's something wrong with this system. OCCUPY TICKETMASTER.

Posted by Anonymous | February 23, 2012 10:07 AM

What'd they have like 30 tix for pre-sale??? So glad I woke up at 7am on my vacation in Cali...

Posted by Anonymous | February 23, 2012 10:07 AM

KEEP TRYING! We JUST got them. I was working 2 computers and my fiance just nailed it.

Posted by The Littlest Winslow | February 23, 2012 10:08 AM

yeah there are 61 tickets for the Williamsburg and Bowery show on stub hub wtf

Posted by carmen | February 23, 2012 10:08 AM

Seriously BV. How many fix did you have for each show? 12? Be upfront.

Posted by adam | February 23, 2012 10:08 AM

I logged in to ticket master at EXACTLY 10AM. There are NO tickets up. Fucking ridiculous shit.

Posted by Sarah | February 23, 2012 10:09 AM

Ticketmaster is so fucked up. Sold out as soon as they go on sale? Bullshit. There are already $75+ tickets on StubHub! This kind of price gouging and scalping is ridiculous.

Posted by cflgh2 | February 23, 2012 10:10 AM

what a joke why have a presale if no ticekts are available????

Posted by jen | February 23, 2012 10:12 AM

Yup, I was on TM as soon as it refreshed with ticket purchase option and nada. Doesn't seem like anyone got tix - not cool.

Posted by laura | February 23, 2012 10:12 AM

There are over 30 tix already listed to stubhub... it's 10:13am. HOW IS THIS FUCKING POSSIBLE>??!?!?!?!

Posted by JV | February 23, 2012 10:13 AM

so did anyone legitimate get tickets?

Posted by geri | February 23, 2012 10:13 AM

No tickets here either. What is this? So tempted to just buy from StubHub right now but I'll see how tomorrow goes.

Posted by Anonymous | February 23, 2012 10:13 AM

i got one ticket after refreshing and re-entering info about a million times.
happened at 10:04. but before that it said no tickets available. maybe they release them a few at a time?

Posted by ss | February 23, 2012 10:14 AM

Tried to get ONE effing ticket and no luck.

Posted by Mary | February 23, 2012 10:14 AM

NO ONE BUY THE STUBHUB TICKETS. FUCK THEM. I BET TICKETMASTER EMPLOYEES ARE THE SCALPERS.

Posted by Anonymous | February 23, 2012 10:14 AM

Calm down hipsters. Much as you'd like to blame ticket master, the more likely situation is that BV had a VERY small number of presage tickets, maybe even 50, and they overhyped this event in order to drive more traffic to their site. You won't catch them admitting how many fix they actually had. You Williamsburgers are quick to say "FUCK TICKETMASTER" but it's BV who's being sneaky and cashing in on your desperation.

Posted by adam | February 23, 2012 10:16 AM

i almost always get tix at bowery/mhow but nothing this time. did they really release any tix?

Posted by jj | February 23, 2012 10:16 AM

a) Fiona Apple has a lot of fans, b) New York is a huge fucking city, c) there are 1000 TOTAL tickets available for these 2 shows combined. Just because it sold out instantly doesn't mean Ticketmaster is bullshit.

Posted by therealworld | February 23, 2012 10:16 AM

Well with over 60 tix for each show on stubhub already it's pretty cleat what happened here... This system is ridiculous... waste of a morning...

Posted by Brooklyn Mike | February 23, 2012 10:16 AM

The modern scalping climate is only enhanced by the internet. Here's to hoping BV only had, like, 6 tickets, and better luck tomorrow!

Posted by Anonymous | February 23, 2012 10:19 AM

tickets on stub hub are selling for more than twice!!!

Posted by Anonymous | February 23, 2012 10:20 AM

Clam dip.

Posted by Nick | February 23, 2012 10:21 AM

I doubt it had much to do with the volume of people trying to buy tickets. I tried several times and my wait time was never more than, "less than a minute." Usually when an event has an absurd number of people vying for tickets, the wait time exceeds 15 minutes.

Posted by Truth | February 23, 2012 10:22 AM

Adam, then how do you account for all the tickets on StubHub?

Posted by cflgh2 | February 23, 2012 10:22 AM

Geri - I'm legitimate - got 3 of them. Keep trying guys, keep the faith. Credit cards decline, people get timed out. Good luck, you guys

Posted by The Littlest Winslow | February 23, 2012 10:23 AM

tickets were already on stub hub yesterday. Calm down.

@cflgh2: Tickets were on Stubhub yesterday, more than 80 of them. How they got there I don't know, but they were there long before this presage began.

can't believe this shit. i've been a huge fan since i was 11 years old and always dreamed of seeing fiona live. now i live 2 blocks away from the fucking music hall of williamsburg and ticketmaster/BV/crooked system is fucking shafting me up my ass. stub hub tix already triple the price. no tix available through presale. How can shit like this happen in this day and ago of open communication?

*age of open communication

I'm not positive but I believe you can list tickets for events without actually having purchased said tickets. Like, a preemptive sale, and then adjust the # according to what you got.

Also, there's no denying tickets get set aside for scalpers via Ticketmaster. Shit needs to be regulated.

saw her a few years back at jones beach... place was empty, we moved down to floor seats up front when the corporate boxes were vacated...

Posted by Anonymous | February 23, 2012 10:50 AM

they need to pass transparency laws to require ticketmaster to disclose how many tix were put on presale/sale/held back.

i smell another LCD scam.

Posted by jj | February 23, 2012 10:53 AM

why did I *just* get an email from ticketmaster that the presale starts now (when it "started" at 10am)?? still no tix. thanks for the misleading email that got my hopes up.

Sucks that there are currently 87 tix for the Bowery Ballroom show on Stubhub. The whole club only holds something like 550 so nearly 20% of the tix are already being scalped while people who want to go are praying for a shot tomorrow since the presale was gone in one minute.

:-(

ok that email from ticketmaster was just plain cruel. I spent an hour trying over and over again to get two tix this morning and now I check my inbox (2PM) and I have an email telling me to "hurry" and get "presale tickets!!!"

Are you fucking kidding me?

Posted by Diamond Prince of Persia | February 23, 2012 2:00 PM

Anyone get a ticket during the regular sale now, or the bots got them all again?

Posted by Jon | February 24, 2012 12:15 PM

No luck here and prices on Stubhub have jumped from $95 at 11 am to $199 start now. :-(

Posted by C-J. | February 24, 2012 12:33 PM

started trying at 12 on the dot for 40 minutes with no success. site is bullshit.

Posted by chris | February 24, 2012 12:59 PM

i've been trying since 12:00 and i continue to get the same bullshit response.

i'm fuming!!!

Went to the Mercury Lounge In NY to get tixs this morning. Nothing left. Damn I hope there is a ticket giveaway.

Just to be clear, the Brooklyn venue where it is being held is know to sell their tickets to the scalpers before the show even goes on sale. I am going to buy a ticket on Stub Hub and eat a hamburger center stage.
