Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. at ACL 2011 (more by Tim Griffin)
Dale

Speaking of wacky bands playing Brooklyn Bowl, all-metal tribute to the Bee Gees, Tragedy, complete their February residency at the club this Friday (2/24). A more serious Led Zeppelin tribute band (Zoso) plays there one night later.

Definitely lands in the top ten 'worst band names ever' category.

^ yeah kinda renders the whole discussion in the teenage Cool Kids thread obsolete

pretty decent live show though

these dudes look like clowns. it's pretty rare that I'll be into a band described as "wacky"

Posted by Anonymous | February 23, 2012 11:50 AM

"wacky" is a great word.

"A wacky, wild ride!"

11;43...Agreed. Teenage Cool Kids is an awful name but sounds brilliant compared to this. Not sure which is worse though...Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. or Windsor for the Derby?

few bands sing harmonies as well as DE JJ. they play in austin on 3/9 but requires an rsvp.

that coat is a tragedy in itself... its a shame because DEJJ have a few decent songs.. even if they dropped the live schtick they still have that dumb name.. thats the kind of name you think of when you are high but you don't actually go through with it !

we were promised jetpacks=best name

Add I Wrestled a Bear Once to that list.

I vote for Shirley Temple of Doom as a contender.

12:37...That's just terrible, though it's inspired me to start a band called Lou Diamond Phillips Head Screwdriver.

This band is awesome, live and on record.

About the name.... As my pal Bill Shakespeare said, "Whats in a name?". Who cares.

I'd rather them have this tongue-in-cheek name than some "indie sounding" name.

sausage clown shit. dude looks like that infomercial guy with the dollar signs on his suit. you sausages are so unaware..

1:46...The problem with the tongue in cheek names is that they're never as clever as the band thinks they are, which adds to the irritation. That's not letting the indie bands off with their atrocious names...they're just as bad, if not worse, since they actually think their names have some kind of profound meaning; like that douche in high school who wrote terrible poetry or made shitty paintings in art class and tried to pass it off as "deep".

"Sausage clown shit"

Don't forget the dick sauce! Wait for the shake ......

My band "Free Beer" packs 'em in wherever we play.

I'm sure I don't have to write it this time - but I will. Linsanity > this piece of trash.

Posted by Anonymous | February 23, 2012 3:12 PM

Linsanity is over. Long live Junior, Jr.

This band is great and I love the name. They are from the Motor City, making fun of Nascar and hillbilly names. Duh.
