Thumbs down Internet! (more by Dana (distortion) Yavin)
Megadeth

We didn't personally use the word "endorse" anywhere in our post earlier today, and neither did Dave Mustaine in the interview where he said, "I'm hoping that if it does come down to it, we'll see a Republican in the White House... and that it's Rick Santorum." But this thing has been around the internet and back again today, and some peeps may have used the word "endorse", which maybe makes it sound too official and stuff, and so the Megadeth frontman is not happy about that and he issued the following statement:

"Contrary to how some people have interpreted my words, I have not endorsed any presidential candidate. What I did say was that I hope to see a Republican in the White House. I've seen good qualities in all the candidates but by no means have made my choice yet. I respect the fact that Santorum took time off from his campaign to be with his sick daughter, but I never used the word 'endorse.'"
So there you have it.

In unrelated news, Iron Maiden and Alice Cooper just announced a tour!

I don't like it anymore than you guys do, but Obama's second term is pretty much sealed at this point and time. The GOP lineup is an embarrassing slurry of ultra right wing extremism that is more concerned with spiting the liberal agenda (and might I add, in a socially relevant manner, i.e. abortion and gay marriage). Any serious attempt at correcting debt issues is going to take a back seat.

The only exception to this may be Romney, but I don't think most Republican hopefuls understand that not much at all will change under his administration.

Posted by Anonymous | February 16, 2012 10:38 AM

8:06, explain this to me. And this is a completely serious question (not trying to antagonize - just want to understand). Because maybe I have been lead to believe differently..
I was always under the impression that during the Bush years, we accumulated 10 trillion in debt, and that under Obama we accumulated an additional 5 trillion, much of which accounts for things we were already committed to spending (i.e. 2 wars, prescription drug benefit) and the lack of revenue coming in because of job losses. Is that wrong?

Posted by Anonymous | February 16, 2012 10:51 AM

i also want to understand why people can blame obama for anything with the economy considering 4 years is not even close to long enough to see any effect (positive or negative) from his policies.

change is gradual.

Posted by Anonymous | February 16, 2012 1:59 PM

Oh, derr.

Posted by Anonymous | February 16, 2012 2:01 PM

1:28 - fucktard, it's not a "fact" just because you think it is. This isn't MSLSD.

These, however, are facts, from the NY Times & US Gov ~~
FACT: debt incurred by Bush 43 over 8 years = $6.1T, including the recession that he inherited from Clinton and the Dot Com bubble (2001); summary sources = Tax cuts, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, economic downturn in 2001 and recession starting in 2007
FACT: debt incurred by Obama over 3 years = $2.4T, including the recession/stimulus inherited / co-owned with Bush (2 diff. stimuli); summary sources = stimulus spending, tax cuts, and the effects of 2007-9 recession in lost revenues and automatic spending like unemployment compensation

$6T/8yr = $760B/yr
$2.4T/3yr = $800B/yr (not counting the tax burden of Obamacare, which was purposely deferred until after the 2012 election)

Who did the spending? Congress (which no libutard on here has acknowledged the fact of yet)
Under Bush = Senate & House nearly even split
Under Obama = Senate & House in super majority for first session, Rep house for 2nd session

I'd say that the data says that the problem is institutional Washington.

Apparently English is not your first language.
You maybe learned to speak from Michael Weiner Savage. Bush (Im the decider) ignored democrats who were against the war or any republican for that matter that had questions about oversight & how it was to be paid for. Good ol executive privilege. Rumsfeld plowed his way through also with his way or the highway ideology towards criticism.

Cheney's cronie company Halliburton made out pretty well with their contracts as soldiers noted along with many journalists while they were struggling for clean water and proper armor Cheney so patriotically forget to include.

I will say that I remain amazed by liberals who get apoplectic over how Bush awarded no-bid contracts to Halliburton, but fail to see how Obama's policies have been the worst type of corrupt crony capitalism, enacting policies that directly and preferentially benefit Buffett, GE, Solyndra, GM, Goldman Sachs, and other donors.

Posted by Anonymous | February 17, 2012 9:41 AM

So we're not paying for 2 expensive wars?

Posted by Anonymous | February 17, 2012 12:05 PM

2) We're still paying for 2 expensive wars

Oh, and..
3) Bush sucked.

If you think that's intelligent, you can go have an "intelligent conversation" at the zoo with the other irrational chimps. And, the crazy eye left winger still has not addressed how Obama would do anything other than what he's done so far - preferentially line the pockets of his backers, decrease the transparency with the Executive branch, exorbitantly increase entitlement spending when even his cabinet warns that this is catastrophic, and increase the accumulation of national debt instead of "cutting it in half" as he promised. No, crazy eye left winger, you have not answered any of that and are not capable of having an "intelligent conversation", so your trolling will be unrequited.
