Dum Dum Girls @ Cake Shop - 2/6/12
Dum Dum Girls

As hinted earlier and then 100% confirmed before showtime, Dum Dum Girls & Widowspeak layed Cake Shop last night (2/6) with The Babies, and Punks on Mars. It looked like both Widowspeak and Dum Dum Girls were sporting new bass players. Here are some pictures.

Three of the four bands (sans The Babies) will play again at Music Hall of Williamsburg tonight (2/7, tickets) and at Maxwell's on 2/11 (tickets). Both NYC-area shows are part of a larger tour for Dum Dum Girls/Widowspeak. All DDG dates, including the recently-announced Sasquatch, and more pictures from Cake Shop, below...

The new(ish) Dum Dum Girls rekid is pretty good, but I've really been into a compilation somebody put together of all the early recordings. Blows the versions on the first LP away. They should release that shit on a double LP hot wax pronto.

Must be nice not have to work and go to a show like this on a Monday night.

Posted by Anonymous | February 7, 2012 11:56 AM

^I had to work this morning. Still went to this show.

Posted by Anonymous | February 7, 2012 12:06 PM

The Babies were the best band on that bill.

Posted by Anonymous | February 7, 2012 12:06 PM

Bummer. Their old bassist was really hot.

Wow I had no idea Dum Dum was playing Philly on friday. Oh because it's at Voyeur, a shady gay club that is open after hours.

Why are the Dum Dum Girls playing shows in nyc every week?

Posted by Anonymous | February 7, 2012 1:30 PM

"Must be nice not have to work and go to a show like this on a Monday night."

unless you are 50, you have no excuse to say something like this. i have to be at work at 8am every morning and i'm at shows at least three times a week. the secret is coffee.

1:32: You hit it on the head. Are people just supposed to stay home and watch cable all night when they have to work the next day?

My dad is 62, lives in NYC (outer borough, bitches), still goes to rock'n'roll shows on weekdays, and goes to his office job in the morning without whining about it.

Posted by Anonymous | February 7, 2012 1:38 PM

my dad is 72 goes to shows and fingerbangs all the coked out hipster hoes..

hes my hero.

Posted by Anonymous | February 7, 2012 1:56 PM

1:56: Your dad is Eric Clapton?

Posted by Anonymous | February 7, 2012 2:30 PM

Watch it, my mom IS a hipster hoe.

Posted by Anonymous | February 7, 2012 2:50 PM

2:50: Your mom is Chairlift Polachek?

Posted by Anonymous | February 7, 2012 3:39 PM

My dad could beat up 1:56's dad and steal his gak if he wanted to but not on Monday night.

Posted by Anonymous | February 7, 2012 4:24 PM

The new bassist also played with the Black Ryder

Posted by Anonymous | February 7, 2012 4:37 PM

all the dum dums are hot

Posted by Anonymous | February 7, 2012 4:53 PM

Looking forward to tonight's show. Wish the Babies were on the bill, but I'm glad I'm seeing the show at MHOW, which is always nice.

Posted by Anonymous | February 7, 2012 5:06 PM

The bass player also played in Marnie Stern

Your blog looks nice, on the other hand it would be greater if you can use lighter colors as well as a professional design. This will ensure that a lot more readers come to check it out.Informative post by the way!
