Fiona Apple

She was added to Sunday. The June Randall's Island fest writes:

We are excited to announce the addition of Fiona Apple to Gov Ball 2012! The Grammy award-winning artist will be touring this year behind her first new album since 2005's critically acclaimed Extraordinary Machine. Machine was named by Rolling Stone Magazine as the 49th best album of the 2000s, and was nominated for multiple Grammys. This past Friday, Apple's select six-show club tour (her first live dates since 2007) was met with incredible demand, and sold out in minutes. Apple's addition to the Sunday lineup of Gov Ball will give new fans, as well as her die-hard following, one of the first opportunities to see her perform live in NYC since her sold out show at Central Park in 2006.

Its an honor to have one of the greatest, and most unique, female singer/songwriters in alternative music grace the stage at Gov Ball this year. We can't wait.

Tickets are on sale.

In other NYC festival news, Electric Daisy Carnival is coming.

So how much does Fiona Apple's PR agent pay you guys to keep posting all this shit?

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2012 10:49 AM

You idiots are paying for it by commenting and continually refreshing the page to see who has put up a new post about hummus.

Fiona Getz Multiple IMPRESSIONS

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2012 10:52 AM

But.... the fest still sucks.

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2012 11:01 AM

governors ball>bowery ballroom or mhow

most of you people will be paying/have already paid over $100 for a single fiona apple set. i'ma gonna pay $160 and not only see her but a bunch of other bands. sucks to be you.

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2012 11:03 AM

Is Fiona Apples like 45 by now?

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2012 11:05 AM

1103..sucks to be you! Have you ever seen a show at Randalls Island? It is a soccer field that holds what 40,000? On top of that it is a pain in the ass to get too. Fiona's set will probably be 60 minutes or less too...

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2012 11:11 AM

Use of the phrase "alternative music" in that press release further solidifies Governors as the 1998 of music fests.

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2012 11:12 AM

^ha ha..I actually miss 98...good year in music.

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2012 11:13 AM

No overlapping sets actually seems like a bad thing.

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2012 11:18 AM

NO OVERLAPPING SETS! OMG!!!!!!

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2012 11:18 AM

BV - that show in CP was in 07.

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2012 11:19 AM

11:18 I agree...

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2012 11:22 AM

11:03 is the guy who loves shows at Terminal 5 and MSG. He is the same guy who is gonna go see Roger Waters at Yankee Stadium, sit up in the bleacher seats and watch the show on the video screens and come on here the next day and tell everyone the show was mind blowing and killer.

Man you are one prized idiot

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2012 11:23 AM

Why isn't this thing called Randall's Ball? Governors Ball should be on Governors Island no? So stupid!

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2012 11:28 AM

@11:28 - who gives a shit. I'm just going to see the hipster chicks in their booty shorts. Have fun at Bamboozle

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2012 11:32 AM

The Wall tour is kind of meant to be seen on the big screens. Nothing about the show is meant to be intimate. The prices are insane, but it sure is quite the spectacle, whether in the upper deck or not.

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2012 11:40 AM

11:32 160 bucks is a lot of $ to pay for the chance to look at a girl in shorts.

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2012 11:41 AM

11:40 so is Cirque Du Soleil

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2012 11:46 AM

11:40,
Yeah that is why I will wait for the The Wall tour show to come out on Blu Ray. Watch it on my 70 inch with better views and sound then most of the people paying to see it at Yankee Stadium

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2012 11:50 AM

^Yeah but the blueray will be $20 and tickets for Roger at Yankee will be $5 or less day of.

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2012 11:54 AM

Well, it's official. Not going to this now.

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2012 12:04 PM

^Thanks I was waiting to hear from you before I bought my tickets :)

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2012 12:05 PM

"No overlapping sets actually seems like a bad thing."

Agreed. That's the one thing that makes festivals like Coachella bearable. While all the asshats are watching Tiesto or some shit on the main stage, I can go see a good band on a smaller stage in peace.

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2012 12:07 PM

Just thinking about this makes me miss the pool parties.

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2012 12:09 PM

my girlfriend paid $200 to see Fiona at a club in march. Maybe I can rub it in her face by going to this fest. Half the price, 13 times as many bands

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2012 12:14 PM

$200/2 is $100

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2012 12:26 PM

Bowery holds 500..divided that by 40,000..so the venue is 80 times bigger...also her set will be 50% in length of Bowery..

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2012 12:27 PM

I saw Fiona play Central Park like 5 years ago. 75 minute set. I bet her festival set is nearly as long.

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2012 12:33 PM

Capacity at Bowery is actually 600 but yes you are correct in everything else 12:27. Although i think those people above are just troll baiting. No one in their right mind would think seeing her at Gov's Ball is better than at Bowery.

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2012 12:34 PM

I saw Fiona at Nokia Theater in 2005..she played 90 min plus..

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2012 12:47 PM

Seeing Fiona Apple in 2k12 is like seeing Lauryn Hill in 2k12. You expect a big payoff, but in the end you're gonna be let down.

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2012 12:56 PM

^Lauryn Hill has no talent though...

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2012 12:59 PM

fiona will not last this long, she will go psycho a couple of shows into the tour.

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2012 1:08 PM

When was her last breakdown 2005? Do you still do (behaviorwise) the same things you do today that you did in 2005?

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2012 1:29 PM

11:28 - thank you, I had no clue it was on Randall's island - 100% agree that it's really stupid to hold the festival at randall's island and use the name of another island a few miles away that also hold's music festivals - that's just asking for mass confusion

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2012 2:12 PM

Mass confusion? Its called google/the internet. !

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2012 2:49 PM

Capacity at these Randalls Island shows is limited to 25k people.

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2012 2:49 PM

^ohh so much better! I think they will have to cap it at 5,000 though as this thing is not going to sell well at almost $200 for a 2 day pass with few marquee acts.

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2012 2:52 PM

Hi Robert!

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2012 2:52 PM

Yeah 2:49 that just makes a world of difference. Dumb idiot

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2012 2:54 PM

25,000 people seeing Fiona at Randall's If it were at MSG capacity would be 18,000! MSG for the win!

Posted by Czar Casim | February 28, 2012 2:56 PM

NO OVERLAPPING SETS!

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2012 3:05 PM

So Over Napping Lets

I'm so over festivals. Ugh.

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2012 3:41 PM

I'm rich and live in the Edge and already got my tickets for both days. I'm happy that I won't have to deal with poor people on Randall's Island for 2 days!

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2012 3:42 PM

Awesome lineup! Don't get points for creativity though. Basically the Sasquatch! Festival, but in an urban setting...

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2012 4:02 PM

Fiona is a vegan. Boo ya.

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2012 4:17 PM

^ Is that why she has that creepy bug-eyed look?

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2012 4:27 PM

No. That bug-eyed look is attributable to Paul Thomas Anderson's friendship with Adam Sandler.

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2012 4:52 PM

i once saw fiona eating hummus at mamouns with david blaine

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2012 5:34 PM

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2012 5:58 PM
