Oberhofer @ 4Knots (more by Amanda Hatfield)
Oberhofer

Oberhofer, whose official upcoming tour has him/them headlining Bowery Ballroom in March, has been playing some suprise local show lately. The next, though not exactly a secret, happens tonight (2/14) at 285 Kent and tickets are on sale. Slowdance, Night Manager, and Bear Ceuse are also on the bill.

Alternatively, if you're 21+, you can head to Pianos to see a free show by Devin and others.

i've tried, can't get into this band. sorry.

When I saw them two years ago, they reminded me of Foals. I wonder what they sound like now...

Saw him at Glasslands on Friday and he threw a temper tantrum and stormed off stage because his guitar was coming out of the wrong monitor. Was also a huge dick to the sound guy. It was embarrassing.

^^ but that's how you're supposed to behave towards soundguys nowadays, right? music folks today are spoiled brats. these BK pussies wouldn't last one show in 1990's NYC

10:04 -- did that really happen? that's horrible. especially at Glasslands... it's not like you're playing Roseland dude.

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2012 10:27 AM

yeah, that happened. i was there too. it was odd. a band with a glockenspiel AND a whiny diva frontman? that was just too much to take.

this kids tantrum on friday at Glasslands was HILARIOUS. He cleared out half the room. There are better ways to communicate you need more vocal in your monitor.

Yeah-- in the 90s musicians weren't ever dicks in NYC. Oberhofer will be playing big shows very very soon. Good for him that he doesn't settle for some crap sound guy fucking up his show. Attitude comes with the territory. There's only 1 Ted Leo.

^^^ so glad you could add your 2 cents mr. oberhofer

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2012 10:51 AM

what is that photo of, a peter frampton cover band?

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2012 10:56 AM

he may be playing big shows very soon, but when you piss off all the little people on the way up, you have nowhere to go once the hype wears off.

We will have no idea who this kid is in two years. You should be endlessly thankful that people are coming to your shows. He will get his. Karma, as we say, is a bitch.

If you look at Oberhofer's Facebook page you'll see that he publicly apologized to his sound guy immediately after the show. But I'm sure none of you have ever lost your temper before, right?!!

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2012 3:16 PM

it wasn't just a temper tantrum. it was full blown little kid stomping both feet and yelling as loud as he could into his microphone for 10 minutes straight. this happened before they started playing and again after song 2 when he started yelling again. lame.

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2012 4:18 PM

was he crying?

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2012 4:36 PM

@2:28pm- Nope. John Pena of BK's finest aka Heavenly Beat.

Your blog looks nice, on the other hand it would be greater if you can use lighter colors as well as a professional design. This will ensure that a lot more readers come to check it out.Informative post by the way!
