JAMC at Webster Hall (more here)
The Jesus & Mary Chain

Its been five years since the brothers Reid have made their way around the US as The Jesus & Mary Chain. Now it looks like the band will be back on our shores to play a select set of dates in and around SXSW including the 35 Denton Festival. "Underpinning the Reid brothers' three-chord assault on these 2012 dates will be (sometimes drummer and guitarist from Pyschocandy line up) John Moore on guitar, Phil King on bass and a drummer to be announced." Full tour dates, which do not currently include NYC, are listed below. It's unclear if any more will be added.

The J&MC shows are in celebration of the band's upcoming slate of reissues which include additional bonus tracks and bonus DVD content. Head to the band's site for more info.

35 Denton also recently announced Atlas Sound and many more bands on its lineup.

All J&MC dates and some video below.

Wellmont?

Posted by Anonymous | February 7, 2012 3:29 PM

Just heard these guys recently. Seems like they owe a pretty heavy debt to the "Williamsburg Sound", no?

Posted by Anonymous | February 7, 2012 3:37 PM

saw them in '07 at webster hall and they were great!

Posted by Anonymous | February 7, 2012 3:38 PM

Wellmont is a nice enough place, but I wouldn't want to have to go all the way out there to see them.

Yes! I'm so there.

Check out my recent interview with Jim Reid - which also links to a live recap to their 2007 tour (the NY shows).

Last time there wasn't a hooligan in sight, the sound was barely audible, and the crowd was a bunch of Chatty Kathys. I walked the fuck out.

Posted by Anonymous | February 7, 2012 4:11 PM

Agreed that they were unusually quiet on the last tour.

Posted by Anonymous | February 7, 2012 4:14 PM

PLEASE GOD NOT T5

Posted by Anonymous | February 7, 2012 4:30 PM

why would they be so quiet? blasphemy.

this will be at T5 by the way.

I assume this is just typical BV trolling:

But if it isn't do more research on them and you will get your answer.

Posted by Anonymous | February 7, 2012 4:49 PM

JAMC played a handful of west coast dates in the summer of '08. Just sayin.

Someone has to say it: the Webster Shows were a terrible disappointment. No way to describe it than to say it just didn't have the JAMC sound, energy, intensity, vocals, you name it.

Posted by Anonymous | February 7, 2012 8:30 PM

I have to agree with 8:30--I went to the 2nd Webster Hall night and was stunned at how quiet the sound was and how much the band lacked energy. They got going about 45 minutes into it. I'm hoping for better this time around. Come on lads!

Asobi Seksu's cover of "Never Understand" smokes the original.

Posted by Anonymous | February 7, 2012 11:39 PM

It's past your bedtime, 11:39.

I saw them both nights at Webster and also a couple times in the early 90's. Completely different experience. The shows used to be a sonic and visual assault but at Webster they were quiet. People's obnoxious chatter was clearly audible when it would normally be drowned out. The songs are still there but the power was gone.

Someone has to say it - 8:30 eats asshole and doesn't know how to read comments, since nearly every other post in this thread said exactly the same thing as his "someone has to say it" self important dribble

swoon--- kids today only wish that they'd look as effortlessly cool as they did... everyone tries so hard nowadays with terrible results.

93millionmilesfromthesun cover of "never understand" smokes asobi's

Posted by Anonymous | February 8, 2012 3:46 PM

Any cover of a Jesus And Mary Chain song is weak by comparison.
