Just three days ago there was nothing listed at Southpaw for Monday, 2/20, the rumored actual final night. As you can see above (thanks Matt), that has since changed, as has the status of this past Wednesday's event as the last hip hop show at Southpaw.

Meanwhile, you can also still head to the Park Slope club for its second-to-last night, one that will be filled with Americana, tonight (2/19).

Will they be giving away commemorative Southpaw handguns? Do we need to bring our own hollow-points?

Posted by Anonymous | February 19, 2012 7:38 PM

Who cares? Nothing to do with Linsanity.

Posted by Anonymous | February 19, 2012 7:39 PM

What a terrible finale for a venue with a decent history of shows.

Posted by Anonymous | February 19, 2012 7:44 PM

good place for a starbux or duane reade

Posted by Anonymous | February 19, 2012 8:04 PM

7:38 - Nope...just show up with that attitude and you'll be well taken care of.

Posted by Anonymous | February 19, 2012 8:21 PM

^ lulz riiiiight, like you would know. do you even know a person of color socially? and no, the guy holding the door at the atm doesn't count. fucking hipsters.

Posted by Anonymous | February 19, 2012 8:32 PM

There's more to Brooklyn than white hipsters and indie rock. Thank you Southpaw for keeping it real instead of keeping it vanilla.

"There's more to Brooklyn than white hipsters and indie rock. Thank you Southpaw for keeping it real instead of keeping it vanilla."

I agree. Everyone claimed that Southpaw did not have any good bands. Southpaw did have good bands, they just did not book bands that the brainwashed masses wanted to listen to. Yeah, another Animal Collective side project? The Impression? If they are not in Pitchfork, they don't count.

Sucks this place is closing. Played here a few times. The staff is the nicest staff I ever dealt with, best sound on stage, and super cool back area with tons of posters from cool shows that occurred there. Sad to see this place close, was really hoping to play more shows here.

Why are they closing? What's happening to the space?

Posted by Anonymous | February 19, 2012 10:57 PM

They gonna run outta Hummus

Posted by Anonymous | February 19, 2012 11:25 PM

Was there last night and pretty much every beer on tap was out. Something very depressing about the image of a bar with plastic covers over 8 of the taps.

Thanks to everyone with something positive to say about the venue & the versatile programming. All the best

Lame show. No blood, no cops called, no punk ass bitches getting a beatdown. What kind of show is that? I expect shows like that from hipsters, but from you people? I expected more. I wanted to blog about my first "black people" event, and it was totally lame. Thanks a lot.

Posted by Holden Smith | February 20, 2012 6:57 AM

Step up your game Blacks!

Posted by Anonymous | February 20, 2012 7:49 AM

Uneducated urban idiots can't even get the address right on the poster.

Posted by Anonymous | February 20, 2012 8:05 AM

Yeah, they even spelled the venue's name wrong. Should be "Soufpaw".

Posted by Anonymous | February 20, 2012 8:12 AM

^Yep...we've come a long way in terms of racial tolerance and understanding each other as human beings...giant strides.

And to 8:32 who starts off sentences with non-words like "lulz"...I'm a black guy. Yep...I know it's shocking to someone like you but non-whites read this blog too. I don't know where you bank but nobody holds atm doors open for me. Maybe you're special.

^ I call bullshit on that. You are whiter than Wonder Bread, and you are clearly from somewhere else (Chicago is my guess). Save your faux-santimony for the tourists, er, your family when they come into town.

Prove that I'm wrong.

Posted by Anonymous | February 20, 2012 10:27 AM

^This guy clearly is from Rhode Island.

Posted by Anonymous | February 20, 2012 10:41 AM

9:55 / 10:41 - you got called out. admit it and stop lying to yourself.

Posted by Anonymous | February 20, 2012 11:26 AM

10:27 is just a curmudgeonly troll who thinks he knows everything about everything. The tone and language use is very detectable, I can smell that shit stench from way off.

"Prove that I'm wrong." Confrontational, internet tough guy and armchair philosopher. I've def seen your work all over this site. Here's a free tip - no one cares, dude. Try jacking off, perhaps the endorphin rush will help.

Posted by Anonymous | February 20, 2012 11:33 AM

You white boys are all tuff behind you computer!?!?

Posted by Anonymous | February 20, 2012 11:34 AM

^ This guy is clearly not behind a computer.

Posted by Anonymous | February 20, 2012 11:52 AM

True fact: Internet trolls don't like getting called out. But, they always get called out, and always will.
True fact: Internet tough guys ALWAYS accuse those who call them out of being internet tough guys. Classic projection.

@11:33
Dude, you need therapy and medication. Go get treatment.

lol tuff lol pass the dutchie lol lol

Posted by Anonymous | February 20, 2012 1:31 PM

I love it when angry trolls get exposed then they totally go quiet. It's like when Marshall McLuhan tells that guy he's a blowhard in Annie Hall. Great New York moments, that hipsters usually find themselves on the wrong side of.

Posted by Anonymous | February 20, 2012 1:40 PM

^you're a fucking nerd. Prove that I'm wrong.

Posted by Anonymous | February 20, 2012 1:45 PM

Poke the troll and watch him snap like a turtle
Prolly looks like that dude Turtle on Entourage too, only no doubt fatter and without friends
Lulz!!!!

so did anyone go to this? curious to hear what went down, besides the ship, hahaa

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2012 9:21 AM

No beers left, the toilets were gone, and the only women left were a couple of white hags in their 50s with gravely voices and a few missing teeth. Even the blacks left them alone. Oh, speaking of which, the same mutha-this and sucka-that from those people. A sad goodbye I think.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2012 9:39 AM

Say what you want either way about whether the club went downhill or not but did you see that article in the New Yorker Online that portrayed the club as a happening, trendy Williamsburg-style club and that its closure is representative of the "recent" change of Park Slope from a Williamsburg-style hipster neighborhood to a place for Bobo parenting.

...I thought the article was a joke but then I saw it was from the New Yorker and nearly barfed. So will you.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2012 9:53 AM

9:53 reads New Yorker. THAT is hilarious.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2012 10:29 AM

That's so funny that the New Yorker thinks 2011 is the year Park Slope was gentrified. We were saying that 15+ years ago.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2012 11:34 AM

You know who reads The New Yorker? People that are not from New York. You know ... Posers.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2012 11:50 AM

You're such a tool, 11:50. I've been here in New York for 5 years, and I read The New Yorker. I bet you can't even afford to live here. You're probably in some shack in the Maryland woods. Sucks to be you, and it's fabulous to be here.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2012 12:11 PM

12:11-gentrifying douchebag

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2012 4:01 PM

I priced 4:01's mom out of her neighborhood!

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2012 4:12 PM

you do realize that 11:50 and 12:11 are the same person, right? "not from New York" ... "for 5 years". If you can't spot that, you need a stint in troll re-education camp.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2012 4:20 PM

^sweet work Sherlock. Everyone who isn't a complete moron knows that every 98% of the comments on this board are written by one person. That's right dopey, ONE person.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2012 4:34 PM

9:39 - What was truly sad is that not even one of "those people" as you so ignorantly put it would touch your nasty 50 year old toothless mother and her bestie.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2012 4:48 PM

4:12-no, but you priced many others out who would love to beat the shit out of you. yes, really.
