Embarrassed just looking at these pictures. Headset mic? Hah.

Would you like fries with that?

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2012 11:51 PM

Had some friends there tonight.
They had a great time!
VH rules!

Posted by johnny beane | February 28, 2012 11:58 PM

still figuring out why kool n the gang are openers. they shoulda have Ratt or someone

Posted by Anonymous | February 29, 2012 12:01 AM

AWFUL.

Posted by Anonymous | February 29, 2012 12:01 AM

Nothing but some harmless fun

People need to stop taking these reunion shows so seriously it's a nostalgic romp for money but it's also a nostalgic romp for a good time

You can see your "art" bands all you want but people need to realize that this is just fun and nothing more

Posted by Rick | February 29, 2012 12:02 AM

Wolfgang sucks!

Posted by Anonymous | February 29, 2012 12:03 AM

These photos are embarrassing and shouldn't have even run. Does your photographer understand about shutter speed? What a joke.

Posted by Anonymous | February 29, 2012 12:06 AM

durrr durr shutter speed.

Posted by Anonymous | February 29, 2012 12:09 AM

This is the first site to release any info about this show, and all you dweebs do is disparage the mighty Van Halen!
May you all enternally listen to Katy Perry until your noses bleed.

Posted by you people are tools | February 29, 2012 12:12 AM

Agreed, whats up with the shutter speed? I mean, come on! What is this? Some kind of joke? Learn your shutter speed. You shouldn't post pictures taken by someone who clearly doesn't understand shutter speed unless you are trying to make some kind of joke.

Posted by Anonymous | February 29, 2012 12:18 AM

they just cursed linsnity

Posted by Anonymous | February 29, 2012 12:18 AM

I wonder if Kool and the Gang did a medley of "Celebration"/"Best of Both Worlds"...

Posted by Dane Cook | February 29, 2012 12:23 AM

I just got the joke about shutter speed

Posted by Anonymous | February 29, 2012 12:24 AM

diamond dave, oof those pants :-(

Posted by Anonymous | February 29, 2012 12:27 AM

Shutter speed? Seriously, now, F'n stop!

Posted by Anonymous | February 29, 2012 12:33 AM

You should Instagram these.

Posted by Anonymous | February 29, 2012 12:36 AM

well, they did do a lot of songs, thats pretty cool. van halen was never meant to be taken seriously, that was the mistake they made with hagar.

but seriously, shutter speed is no joke.

Posted by Anonymous | February 29, 2012 12:42 AM

White people, lol.

Posted by Anonymous | February 29, 2012 12:56 AM

Time to hang it up? "Oldies Act"

Posted by James | February 29, 2012 1:23 AM

Van Halen fucking ruled!!!! Totally killed it. Fuck you dickless hipsters too busy stroking your slits whilst listening to The Drums to realize you've never heard music with balls. Only tasted them.

Kool & the Gang were on point too.

Posted by Anonymous | February 29, 2012 1:33 AM

That was the best you could do getting pictures of Eddie? He was great, the whole show was excellent. Roth also ditched the headset mic for a handheld halfway through the set but these are only showing the first 3 songs.

Posted by Anonymous | February 29, 2012 2:06 AM

Love VH, but I just can't support them after what they did to Michael Anthony.

Posted by Anonymous | February 29, 2012 2:08 AM

I'm more confused about the golden drum and the snake/ alligator/ Lady Gaga pants. I mean, have fun all you want, but at some point you gotta realize you're at a drag show.

Posted by Doc | February 29, 2012 2:09 AM

His energy was amazing on stage! Looks like diamond Dave is still getting his daily phyto-nutrients!

Posted by Anonymous | February 29, 2012 2:14 AM

what a bunch of little fags on this site

Posted by Anonymous | February 29, 2012 2:21 AM

SHOW SUCKED.

Posted by Anonymous | February 29, 2012 2:26 AM

Really great!
Nice pictures!

Van Halen and Kool & The Gang - would have liked to see it live...

"Love VH, but I just can't support them after what they did to Michael Anthony."

What??? Dude's killin' it in Chickenfoot! What does he need with these scrubs?

Posted by Anonymous | February 29, 2012 2:36 AM

"y'all haters got the small dicks"

Posted by Anonymous | February 29, 2012 2:36 AM

Van Halen live - pretty awesome. Sadly only in the States ;-(

Posted by Fab | February 29, 2012 3:01 AM

dear shutter speed fella,

look where chris had to shoot from: http://www.brooklynvegan.com/img/music/koolandthegang/msg/40.jpg

he's not right in front of the stage... he's waaaay back. lots of big acts only allow photography from the soundboard (or thereabouts).

Posted by Anonymous | February 29, 2012 3:17 AM

Wow, thanks for the great photos. The Van Halen Concert was very very impressive and cool like it seems.

Wished I could join such a great Van Halen Concert - but New York is much to far away from Hamburg/Germany......

Posted by Tobias | February 29, 2012 3:18 AM

Wanted to wait for the slavish morons I knew would come on here saying "killed" it etc. Now for the reality check

Went to the show tonight, bought a ticket on the floor outside the Garden for 20 dollars. No joke. Scalpers could not even give them away.
Basically for those who like myself went to the reunion tour a few years ago, this was the same show, except this was missing the excitement factor. Now it just seems like an oldies act. New songs or should i say spruced up 70's demos do not hold up live. There were moments but yeah kind of a joke now.

Posted by Anonymous | February 29, 2012 4:24 AM

Come on Sammy you don't have to post yourself as anonymous some people may still remember you.It is nice to see you posting and taking advantage of your free time ;)

Posted by sucka mc | February 29, 2012 5:16 AM

Such hate from unemployed tard trolls
So transparent, so adorable
Time to cut the cord and move out of mom's basement, fellas

VH is the dogs balls, my friends. Always has been, (snap) always will.

Posted by Anonymous | February 29, 2012 5:27 AM

Yeah the shutter complaints are unnecessary. I always enjoy Chris' shots. Plus I'm sure he was only allowed to shoot for the first 3 songs. It's the same for pretty much EVERY other venue in NYC.

Posted by Anonymous | February 29, 2012 5:41 AM

Wait, Kool and the Gang opened? What the hell is the story behind that?

Posted by anonymous | February 29, 2012 6:31 AM

Haters gonna hate! Show was awesome and those who say they suck haven't heard the new record or saw them live. Go listen to your indie pussy garbage.

Posted by PussyPumper | February 29, 2012 6:31 AM

Where is Kool & The Gang's setlist?

Posted by Anonymous | February 29, 2012 7:26 AM

Dave's outfits are as bad as his voice.
Ouch. Bring back Sam or Gary.

Posted by aa | February 29, 2012 7:31 AM

I only read the comments that had actual names attached, so it sounds like a great show! Just sold my extra seats for over face and can't wait to go Thursday!

Posted by Greg | February 29, 2012 7:38 AM

"Bring back Sam or Gary"

LOLWUT?!? No, better yet, bring in Panda Bear to do voals, er. yelping, er yodel thing oh whatever the fuck he does.

Or, Llama Del Rey.

Or some other fucktard

cause I'm a dolt

Posted by Anonymous | February 29, 2012 8:15 AM

the haters on this site are a fucking joke. hide behind no name post. you obviously don't have a life, so stop with the bullshit you morons. as far as the shutter guy, if the pics are so bad, then why don't you get your camera, get a pass and go take your own fucking pics.DLR has never been the greatset singer in the world. But this band has more talent in it then any of these so called great bands of today. rock music used in it's loosest term does not mean that anyone who gets air play is a rock band. these are selling out everywhere they go and no matter what you think of them, they sellout. it's just rock and roll! so for all of the haters, shut the fuck up and go listen to can't drive 55.

Posted by vyori | February 29, 2012 8:28 AM

Yoooooo, listen up, I am a well Respected Rapper & Poet, and I came for Kool & the Gang, brother, but Van Halen was good too.
You all need to show some respect, OK? to Kool, VH, and ME, go check me on Facebook, then go out and buy my new CD right now "Walkion On Sunshine" Brutha J

Posted by Peace Brother jerome Watkins 3 2U | February 29, 2012 8:29 AM

nice to see i'll wait and girl gone bad, don't think they played those on the last tour? would love to just hear 1984 in its entirety, to be honest. what a fucking classic, balls to the wall rock album.

Posted by Anonymous | February 29, 2012 8:53 AM

Roth in back in the 70s-80s was awesome.
Lets face it, he sucks now.
He can't sing for shit & he looks like a circus clown on stage with a McDonalds Head-set. LAME !!

Posted by Anonymous | February 29, 2012 8:59 AM

Id bet a weeks pay no one paid $20 for a floor ticket. Not an empty seat in the house and no one was disappointed. I guarantee the strokes wont be holding a reunion tour 30+ years after their inception.

Posted by jd | February 29, 2012 9:03 AM

What's with Uncle Hymie wearing the scarf the whole show? Come on, Dave, we know you're an old man, you don't have to cover up your waddles...

Posted by Van Halen News Desk fag | February 29, 2012 9:03 AM

JUST WAIT until all the bald-spot-and-a-ponytail guys show up and start spamming this place with their pre-written "You don't know anything about rock" type comments. There's a pack of a few dozen Van Halen fans who scour the internet IN FORCE to shout down any negative reviews.

Posted by Dave | February 29, 2012 9:06 AM

What's up with the fat kid on bass? Was he in that movie Heavyweights from the 90's?

Cool head mic dude. You and The Edge should hang out. Also, pretty hilarious that the various Van Halen rednecks are coming on this board and resorting to the only insults they know surrounding "small dicks" and what not.

Posted by Anonymous | February 29, 2012 9:06 AM

Last night Van Halen put on one of the BEST live shows I've ever seen.

For those in the peanut gallery above who write "oldies act" -- you clearly weren't at the show.

There's a difference between James Brown dancing like a man possessed until the day he died and two of the Beach Boys singing "Kokomo," or Jimmy Buffett. All are technically old, but James Brown wasn't "oldies." Like Van Halen, James Brown was classic, funky, and real. There's real soul in Van Halen -- it's why they're one of the only rock bands that lots of black folks, like myself, appreciate.

Kool and the Gang brought it too! Van Halen/Kool might seem 'off' on paper, but live it makes when you hear it.

Van Halen's new album "A Different Kind of Truth" is the best rock album I've heard in a long while.

Wish I could go again tonight!

Posted by Julian | February 29, 2012 9:06 AM

Kool & The Gang played the whole Fair Warning & 1884 albums - Awesome !!!!

Posted by Anonymous | February 29, 2012 9:06 AM

And I don't think it was shutter speed. Im pretty sure his F stop was all wrong. He should be ashamed of himself and stick to shooting stills.

Posted by jd | February 29, 2012 9:07 AM

Roth and ALL of VH are getting older. If you don't like it - don't go and don't waste the (negative) energy hating on them online. Get a life...!

McDonalds headset - yeah - but he's not on a McDonalds salary is he? Are you?...

Posted by Pablo66 | February 29, 2012 9:14 AM

Thank God fat Sammy and his screeching, shrill pussy vocals and lame as f*ck lyrics are now erased from the band history for good. No wonder Roth era VH has sold well over twice as many albums and 10x as many concert tickets. It's easy to see.

Posted by Truth | February 29, 2012 9:15 AM

1:33 nailed it. Its funny to read the subtle comments from people acting like they weren't offended and this comment wasn't about them.

Posted by Anonymous | February 29, 2012 9:20 AM

Just go and enjoy the show. Stop over thinking this and comparing them to what they were in the 70's and 80's.

Time marches on...

Posted by JimC | February 29, 2012 9:21 AM

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
I was the person who posted at 4:24. Just laughing at the slavish troll morons and i will address a few of them personally

Pussy Pumper-Probably the only pussy you are pumping is the fake doll you have by your bedside.Truthers gonna truth you fucking twit. Show was not great and the new album is just eh.Stop sucking Eddie's dick loser

Greg-Oh well since you put Greg as your name you are so much better then the Anon's. I mean posting the name Greg is so brave and revealing. And BS you sold over face.It is a fucking fire sale on the net.No one is getting over face.

Posted by Anonymous | February 29, 2012 9:31 AM

Vyon-Lol moron, it is bullshit s e l l o u t s. Scalpers buying tons of tickets. Check the usual sites.People can't give these tickets away. They are going on the cheap.

JD-where are you.I want that week's pay of yours cause i did indeed get that ticket for 20. Again, check the usual places.People begging to s e l l. And you are a fucking liar. Plenty of empty seats in the house you piece of shit.

Julian-You are pathetic. Best show you have ever seen? Ok so you have seen 2 live shows your entire life. You are king of these morons.

Posted by Anonymous | February 29, 2012 9:36 AM

the new album (you need to lsiten to the whole album, not just the radio songs) like all other dave v.h. albums kicks ass.

they do 22 songs and 2 solo's, not 1/2 the show of dave's banter.

for you 45(+)er's out there, enjoy a real rock show when you can, remember the good bands are getting old and sorry to say good new music choices are few and far between.

i will listen to vh and the other big guys until i'm gone, no rap or gaga for real rockers !!!!!!

Posted by DARRELL PAWLAK | February 29, 2012 9:39 AM

Van Halen's fans are all nitwits.

Posted by Anonymous | February 29, 2012 9:47 AM

What's with that fruity scarf on DLR? Maybe he's trying to cater to the BV demographic!

That being said, wish I coulda been there. Now I'm not sure whether I'll make it to thursday's show. :(

Posted by Anonymous | February 29, 2012 9:55 AM

Anonymous- on this site just as you are in real life- anonymous. Feel sorry for your troubles. Obviously you're not a fan, why in the world would you waste your precious time and a days pay to hang out somewhere you really didn't want to be in the first place? Going by your empty seats comment I already know you weren't actually even there. Just another loser sitting behind a keyboard trying to make himself feel involved. So sad. You should have actually gone to the show, it was good. Really.

Posted by jd | February 29, 2012 9:59 AM

Tickets for BOTH MSG shows for VH this week have been SOLD OUT for over a month.

They SOLD OUT in just a day or two of tickets going on sale.

Any troll bitch claiming to have snagged a scalper ticket for $20 is one bold faced lying MF'er.

Go try to sell that BS to some morons with just double digit IQ's, fool.

Posted by CreativeGenius | February 29, 2012 10:00 AM

i was pulling floor and 100-level seats off of TM two days, smart guy. "sold out" my ass. stubhub and craiglist have been full of people frantically trying to dump their "extras."

these shows were incorrectly priced and the market has spoken. scalpers have generally gotten hosed on these shows, which is great.

Posted by Anonymous | February 29, 2012 10:04 AM

Dummy-they sold out. Who buys them doesn't matter, they sold out. People make a living buying and selling tix on various websites. Just because people were dumping left over tix at a reduced rate means nothing. Vh fans are a small group comparatively speaking. Of course the market showed that.
And the piece of shit comment was totally uncalled for. But it did reveal your intelligence level. Thanks for that. We all appreciate the heads up.

Posted by jd | February 29, 2012 10:13 AM

who the hell picked these pictures? there's basically one and half images of eddie...

Posted by Anonymous | February 29, 2012 10:18 AM

DLR is still > LDR

Posted by Anonymous | February 29, 2012 10:25 AM

Van Halen is one of our greatest American rock bands. Eddie and Alex are still fantastic....Dave is always ever the showman (with all his flaws...he always had them)...though his voice can't scratch and reach the heights it used to. You take Dave for who he is. Understood. Still the show was entertaining and nostalgic for those of us who LIVED through the first coming of this band. Van Halen with Dave will always be Van Halen. This was my very first Van Halen show and like seeing AC/DC a few years ago....the singers just don't seem to have the longevity of the guitarists. The raw power that Eddie and Alex create is still something to behold. Brooklyn Vegan thanks for the great shots.

It would be so sick if they headlined a night at ATP NJ

Kool and the Gang opens at 7:30 until about 8:15 and they are solid professionals. Set gets increasingly funkier, all their hits Too Hot, Ladies Night, Celebration, Get Down on it, Hollywood Swingin, Jungle Boogie is what I knew and the horn players are all excellent. Michael Ray (from photos dressed in yellow) of Sun Ra Arkestra and Michael Ray and the Cosmic Krewe is in the band and plays a mean trumpet. Worth it to see this original NYC band!

Posted by Anonymous | February 29, 2012 10:51 AM

Can anyone who was there tell me what time VH went on? I don't need to sit through all of Kool and the Gang?

Posted by Anonymous | February 29, 2012 10:52 AM

floor seats were still available last night at 6pm on ticketmaster--for $171. haha.

Posted by Anonymous | February 29, 2012 10:52 AM

Surprised none of the ancient Van Halen fans haven't pulled out the old "you live in your parents' basement" joke yet, maybe they're just getting warmed up.

Posted by Dave | February 29, 2012 10:52 AM

^
cigarettes in 1984 = $1.25
cigarettes in 2012 = $10.50

gasoline in 1984 = $0.95
gasoline in 2012 = &4.00 and raising

what is your point, old timer? do you have one? (besides yelling at clouds)

8:45-10:40 approximately was the VH set.

Posted by Anonymous | February 29, 2012 11:11 AM

@ 11:10 ha ha, I guess I missed that one!

Posted by Dave | February 29, 2012 11:12 AM

the economics for these big arena shows really don't seem sustainable. $175 for a tired old rock band--or ANY rock band? geez. but are those prices just for big cities like NYC? for instance, how much is a floor seat in cleveland? $60? those ticketmaster *fees* obviously distort it all...

Posted by Anonymous | February 29, 2012 11:14 AM

"Surprised none of the ancient Van Halen fans haven't pulled out the old "you live in your parents' basement" joke yet, maybe they're just getting warmed up."

^ Well, we found one person who does. :)

And I'm still in my early 20s.

Posted by Anonymous | February 29, 2012 11:22 AM

Not the best show ever, but a fun time. Definitely worth the $25 I paid out front for a 25th row floor seat. Just wait till the opener goes on and the tickets go cheap out front.

Posted by Anonymous | February 29, 2012 11:26 AM

Van Halen is the shit... They need Michael Anthony though. Chickenfoot blows ass. David Lee Roth needs to not have a headset microphone...

I don't like to buy outside MSG because the cops are crawling all over the place..where do you go?

Posted by Anonymous | February 29, 2012 11:30 AM

my band 'Shutter Speed' is playing tomorrow at T5.

Posted by Anonymous | February 29, 2012 11:31 AM

^let's see what "develops". Is anyone going to "film" your show. I think your bands music "lens" well to the venue. T5 will give you great "exposure" just don't lose your "focus". If things go well you will "zoom" to the top!

Posted by Anonymous | February 29, 2012 11:39 AM

Damn 11:39 you and Shecky Green must have had them in stitches in the Catskills circa 1962

Posted by Anonymous | February 29, 2012 11:57 AM

I was at Kutschers this past weekend in Tribecca... ;0

Posted by Anonymous | February 29, 2012 12:01 PM

We had nosebleeds in section 419, and they comped everybody there down to the floor, section 102. Definitely not sold out, but they pushed everyone towards the center and filled in any empty seats.

I'm not the biggest fan but enjoyed the concert. Very good crowd energy. Eddie is a true virtuoso and Alex was very impressive as well. Roth's mic was too low most of the time. Would go again.

Posted by Anonymous | February 29, 2012 12:13 PM

I actually went last night, unlike just about all the posters here.

Kool and the Gan were fine, but I'd see them at Mohegan Sun, not here. VH was very entertaining, Dave forgot the words a few times and Eddie skipped a chorus on one tune, so what... VH was never a super tight band live anyway. Maybe some people would prefer them lip sync to the recorded version?

No empty seats as far as I could see and I looked. Played for two hours...you saw the set list.

Troll on trollers, troll on...

Wolfgang's backstage rider:

- Plate of Hostess products. Please remove all coconut from Snowballs.
- Supercuts stylist at every show.

Posted by Anonymous | February 29, 2012 12:22 PM

Kool and the Gang's "Wild and Peaceful" has some of the greatest funk music ever recorded. I have a red vinyl promo EP of Van Halen's first album with "You Really Got Me", "Explosion", and "Janie's Crying" on it that I clipped from my newspaper job at the time--EVH's guitar playing blew everyone's mind at the time. Yeah, OK, I'm old, so what? Both bands sold out in the most horrific manner since, so I had less than zero interest in seeing them, but for $20, I might check it out. $21+ and I'll get some Korean BBQ instead. Not that you should care, but it's certainly bizarre that I just got back from Cabo to find Van Halen is here. Thanks for sharing.

Posted by Anonymous | February 29, 2012 12:27 PM

@10:54

Your logic:
cigarettes $10.50
gasoline &4.00+

If using "Inflation" of ticket price:
cigarettes $14.13
gasoline $10.74

Pay more attention in math class tomorrow, kid.

Posted by Anonymous | February 29, 2012 2:37 PM

man, i thought they did a pretty damn good job last night. A lot of energy in the place. People were def pumped up and the band was vibing with that. Shit, if i could get a floor seat for tmro night at $20 bucks i'm there!!

lastly, i don't know any other bands at this age putting down like this, seriously. Gotta give them props as musicians and performers for sure. they really did sound fucking awesome. Eddie sober, is ON FIRE!

hey, where's the merch table shot?

Posted by Anonymous | February 29, 2012 5:48 PM

Power and finesse....Eddie's guitar playing has the raw power of Angus and the finesse of a Tom Morello combined. He is a master.

The show was amazing. Every one of the members carries there own weight, synergy of this line up is unreal. Ed shows total command of his guitar and the depth of notes/sounds he makes are so tasteful. Wolf on bass is a great compliment to the band. Kool and the gang warmed the night up nicely ! Great band.

"Every one of the members carries there own weight"

And in Wolfie's case, even more.

I attended the concert here in Auburn Hills Michigan last week. VH was as strong sounding as they were back in 1979. Although, DLR slowed down some. I was hoping for kicks. I wonder what he would look like in long hair again?? I do not like his outfits too much. I think Wolfgang needs to grow his hair out too, Like Eddie. I might be 47, but they made me feel like 17 again! I hope to personally meet Eddie one day. I am a huge fan of his. Although he may feel funny, since I was told I resemble Valerie Bertinelli!! Please, keep all your bad comments to yourself. Know one really cares what you haters says anyway. If you were in High School back in 1979, you would know that Van Halen and Kool and the Gang were the shit!!!!

What a bunch of posers I see on here. I was at this show and I still have major ringing in my ears. This was the easily the greatest Rock band in the world last night. Nobody can touch VH

MORE PICS OF EDDIE AND LESS DIAMOND DAVE!

Eddie Van Halen, I LOVE YOU!!!!
You are the best!!
Keep rockin' and make sure that you come back to Detroit again, soon!
I read that Van Halen was at the "CLUB WHA?" in New York City in January 2012. Any chance of seeing Van Halen in a local bar in Michigan??

I went to the show in Auburn Hills. Took a 30 year old she was not to familar with VH..she loved it...came out a huge VH fan...and asked me how that Eddie guy was so fast...I laughed we've been wondering that for the past 30 years. Also went with a big Metallica fan...He had never seen VH with Roth...When he came out he said best concert he had ever attended and was not disapointed, and this guy is hard to please...comon he's a metalica fan they are hard. I was more impressed with this show than back in 07..it seemed more fresh and had a good vibe. To all the haters, VH could careless, VH is a attitude..a good time attitude. You are all just jelous...If you like a good time and enjoy good rock check Van Halen...they hit the ground running in Aubrun Hills and never stopped...A+

I have to wonder what sort of morons expect a 57 yr old man to do splits and high kicks. I keep seeing fans saying that. Dipshits, could you EVER jump like that, even in your 20s? Get real.

David Lee Roth looks like Steve Martin.

I think it's funny, I said that VH/Kool was one of the best shows I've seen and someone on this blog says, "no it wasn't!"

That's the internet in sum -- where you say shit to people you'd never say to their faces.

I'll say it again: GREAT SHOW!! I loved every minute and my girl did too, and that's one of the few times that's happened.

It is what it is - and in this case the "is" is Van Halen. It's not Sufjan Stevens or Kurt Vile, Vegans. It's one of the progenitors of Sunset Boulevard glam metal and they're all in their late 50's now. This is not some band that's going to play the Rock Shop or Bowery Ballroom or the Bellhouse. And be glad that they are rid of Sammy Hagar. You get Diamond Dave, the one and only monster ego.

If you don't like Van Halen, that's fine. But relax - you don't have to disparage anything that doesn't measure up to indie rock circa 2012. Chill out. It's only rock 'n roll.

Cindy from Michigan, I love your enthusiasm but you do realize Roth is gay and Eddie is only married to his meth now? Regardless, great show at Garden. Must have been an honor for VH to stand where James Murphy plodded.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2012 1:35 PM

VH rocked the house 2/28/12.
Eddie was phenomenal, Alex is a beast, Wolfie held his own, and Dave sounded great, especially when his headset crapped out and he had to go old school with the mike.
for those of you complaining/curious to why Kool and the gang opened, you aren't getting the VH concept of opening acts. It was like walking into a house party. VH'S opening acts have always been about selling merch and having a good vibe.
My kids loved the show!
IMHO,is wolfie Michael Anthony? No he's not, nor will He ever be. But the kid can play and sing great in his own right. Stop comparing. There is no comparison. Its been this way since 2007. And will continue this way moving forward.

ADKOT is awesome, and gets better with each listen. Can't wait for the next album.

From Cindy in Michigan, reply to an annonymous comment, Eddie is not married to Meth! - He looks pretty clean and happy to me. And as for David lee Roth, if you say he is gay, and he really is, ( I don't know that) - OH WELL, he is still talented. I think all the negative comments need to stop now - keep them to yourself. Besides, opinions are like assholes, everyone has one. As far as I am concerned, VAN HALEN is and always has been the best talented rock and roll band ever. Any bad comments here after, I will just consider you to be bored with your life and jealous of their talent!!
TO VAN HALEN, IF YOUR ARE READING THIS, PLEASE NOTE: EVERYONE LOVES YOU HERE IN MICHIGAN!!!!! Have a nice day all!!

Wailin' Halen
Haters can suck it

Van Halen's new album is great. I haven't like any new rock in a while. I was critical of the 2007 tour in reguards to EVH's playing. So let me give credit now. His playing is stellar, and it's because he's sober. Dave's singing is what it is. But Alex is amazing, and Wolfie is a great bass player. Better than MA, and his vocals are adequate.

Cindy from Michigan, I love your enthusiasm but you do realize Roth is gay

I am going to the show in Sunrise tonite....planning just to go and enjoy the music but based on some of the past VH shows I've seen I am expecting a train wreck. VH brings back good times and EVH is as talented as they come but also just as fucked up as can be. Roth is a talentless joke, but nevertheless he is entertaining..Never sure to be laughing with him or at him..No doubt VH was at their musical best with Sammy and Mike, but thi$ renunion with Roth was bound to happen..So I'll just be happy if they make it through the show this time..and I'll sit back and enjoy watching with fond memories of VH turned up to 11 on a boom box in the school park..Welcome to South Florida guys...the bar is that way (and Dave the wig shop is across the street)...If you Listen closely..woooooo woooo...You can hear the train coming already.

I wanted to love it; however, the show was a a B- at best. Crowd was great ,but the band was not. David's headphone mic was horrible. He switched over to a hand held cordless, that sucked as well. I paid 175.00 per ticket. I guess that didn't include a sound check. I found it very unproffessional. David's voice often cracked and was sometimes inaudible. The 4 songs from the new album failed to add excitement. To make room for the new songs they cut concert classics like "Mean Streets" and "Little Dreamer". How do you play NYC and not play "Mean Streets?" I agree Eddie is awesome, but he seemed uninspired. Wolfgang is not Michael Anthony, nuff said. Alex was strong, but I wasn't as impressed with him as much as I was in 1988 and 2007. It just felt like they were collecting a pay check and nothing more. This hurts me to say:(
