Cop Problem

Across the three songs that make up Philadelphia's Cop Problem debut 7", the foursome remind us of what started the crust movement before the fashionistas sunk their claws into it, political punk rock. Political leanings aside, the band's brand of crust mirrors that of Tragedy, employing clean guitar leads to give the galloping d-beat and piercing vocals of Deb Cohen a melodic direction that you can hum along to. Stream the band's debut 7" below and pick up a copy via the band. Want one for free? I have two available for giveaway. Details are at the bottom of this post.

Look for Cop Problem on the road in the coming weeks, though no NYC shows to speak of yet (they played ABC No Rio in February). All tour dates, the EP stream, contest details and some video, below...

wouldnt tragedy be an example of good music transcending the boundaries of a particular scene? "fashionistas sinking their claws into it?"

Brooklyn Vegan sure hates those fashionistas...

Cock Problem sounds awesome.

@4:31 I literally meant the fashionista/downtown set who care not about this music. If you look around at the current fashion world, everyone from Lady Gaga on down is sporting studded jackets, Crass logos, and a zillion other things repackaged for the mass market... guys like Marc Jacobs/John Varvatos think that punk rock is cool, so they want to be a part of it... nevermind what it truly means. Same thing is happening in the metal world... metal "fashion" companies with $50 tees, etc.

This is what I mean by fashionista... someone co-opting the scene for personal gain. And no I dont think Tragedy can ever be lumped into that. They haven't done anything but grow organically as a band, stayed true to their roots and punk as fuck.

Thanks for reading!
