white people = music
black people = moronic bragging and rhymes set to samples of white people's music
Posted by Anonymous | March 30, 2012 4:58 PM
No!

I didn't listen to the song, but let me guess: it sounds like a goat bleating?

black people: sample white musicians who ripped off their culture

@5:05 i am white! crazy world huh?
Posted by Anonymous | March 30, 2012 5:17 PM
not crazy. just unfortunate.
Posted by Anonymous | March 30, 2012 5:56 PM
Has that smoother sound like the whale EP...Reminds me of EC's Trust a little in terms of color and complexity...
Posted by Russell Crowe | March 30, 2012 5:58 PM
Do the blacks like the Grimes?
Posted by Anonymous | March 30, 2012 6:33 PM
If I decide that this shit sucks, does my Bedford Avenue pass get revoked?
Posted by Anonymous | March 30, 2012 7:07 PM
you people are ridiculous. all 5 of you or whatever
Posted by Anonymous | March 30, 2012 7:18 PM
Oh, you love me, 7:18.
Posted by Anonymous | March 30, 2012 7:24 PM
Here's the black and white on this band: they blow chunks and I'm baffled as to why they get so much attention and press. I tried to give them a fair shake but their songs are so filled with nothing that I couldn't lend my ears to that shit any longer. Permanent ear plugs, please. I like sincerity in the music I listen to.

One of the best bands out there period. Black or white or whatever. It's awesome music.
Posted by Anonymous | March 30, 2012 8:06 PM
too many beautiful girls in this band. but it doesn't make up how horrible this song is...what happened?
Posted by Anonymous | March 30, 2012 11:24 PM
LINSANITY LIVES
Posted by Sam | March 31, 2012 1:17 AM
black and white people should be able to hate this horrible band together.
Posted by Anonymous | March 31, 2012 2:33 AM
I like the brand .

Posted by Anonymous | March 31, 2012 8:05 AM
this sounds like tha roots
and the blonde girl looks constipated
not sure if im into the M3 to m3 in the melody... its whatever
Posted by Anonymous | March 31, 2012 9:15 AM
If hating the Dirty Projectors is wrong, I don't want to be right.
Posted by Anonymous | March 31, 2012 11:00 AM
sounds a lot like what longstreth was doing before really putting a band together; meandering melody that never really lands anywhere. the whole things kinda floats to nowhere, feels uninspired
and this comes from a huge fan, for the record

This is the prototype of what a hipster band is. If a marketing MBA was tasked to put together a band that appeals to the 20something hipster demographic, this is what he/she would come up with.

11:09 - you're reading a HIPSTER BLOG, who are you anyway
Posted by Anonymous | March 31, 2012 11:11 AM
11:11, I'm "Anonymous", nice to meet you.

I read a real top notch Mojo article on Little Feat one or two years ago...It totally brought to mind this band in some ways...You know you don't see enough exceptional writing on music these days...I'd like to thank Mojo mag for being so good to me through the years and I hope the magazine continues to thrive...

All the members of this band come from very wealthy families.
Longstreth's dad is a CFO of a huge petroleum corporation
Baldwin's dad is a hedge fund bigwig
Ambers parents are corporate power lawyers in DC
Etc etc etc
The rich kids run this town. We only get to comment on it.
Posted by Anonymous | March 31, 2012 12:34 PM
It must be nice, 12:34.
I don't like this band, but there are other instances where rich hipster kids made great music/art. Beastie Boys and Moby are perfect examples of that. But this shit sucks.
Posted by Anonymous | March 31, 2012 2:13 PM
i remember when the band was touring canada and someone passed a tub of hummus to the driver and he flipped the van
Posted by Anonymous | March 31, 2012 3:02 PM
@ 12:34 you're a fucking liar. i know this band...
Dave's parents are nature conservationists and birders.
Amber's Dad is from a tiny little farm town in TX and now works for the EPA
Nat's dad is a gigging saxophone player, and so is Angel's Dad
Haley's Dad is a truck driver
Everyone's parents in this band are working class Americans. Fuck you and your stupid made up fucking lies

stank crust
Posted by Anonymous | March 31, 2012 7:06 PM

even if their parents are rich who cares? rich people, poor people.. all capable of making art and forging their own paths. this stupid argument shows up all the time on BV. the strokes were rich kids and their first two records are really good pop records. ian mackaye grew up in georgetown (one of the richest neighborhoods in dc).
